  1. Hi Amanda, Maltodextrin is safe and modified food starch in the US is generally safe. There are some products I have seen which list modified food starch and then (corn) right after it to let customers know it came from corn. It gets much easier just hang in there. This board is an untapped resource where you will learn the in's and out's of the diet...
  2. I am supposed to be planning our wedding but instead I have been dealing with this, I have become a little withdrawn and not the happy-go-lucky person I usually am. It all started about a month when I got a stomach bug....nothing was the same since. I know I have not been getting glutened....I have no other known intolerances and the only problem I really...
  3. Thank You, I spent hours the other day trying to figure it out before giving up.
  4. Good question, we alternate between the Clorox clean-up to OxyClean multipurpose spray. I never thought about this until now. We always learned for everything to bleach and it was cleanier. I wonder if it fights gluten too!
  5. I recently had a spout of a few days without a movement and man I was hell to be around. John said something that bugged me the other day and it was a yelling match within seconds, then I got frustrated and threw whatever I had in my hands at the wall. I am not a hostile person either...I never get destructive or anything so the behavior for me was very unlike...
  6. So how do you get your own title under the Avatar? yours says puppy kisses....
  7. I never realized how much more carbs our foods had, my coworkers always say well your diet is healthy, rice pasta healthy....I gained weight after I found out how good Tikyanda pasta was....for a few weeks I made it frequently.
  8. Deb- I cannot believe they are still selling spoiled milk...eww! Shouldn't there be some fine there? In PA, some stores ticket and some do not. It is interesting how laws vary state to state.
  9. Very Informative, Thank You
  10. Cross Contamination is a way people still get sick after going gluten-free without knowing it. Toasters are a big concern. You can either get one especially for you or those new toaster bags. One of my celiac friends loves them. I have not tried them yet. Cutting Boards-I cut on plates so I cannot really comment on this too much. Shampoos, conditioners...
  11. I never looked at it this way, Karen you have a very good point
  12. That's a good question and I am hoping someone has some advice, we were on vacation over the summer and there was a Hard Rock Cafe, and I wouldn't go in because I was unsure. Good Luck though.
  13. I have had people disagree with some of my posts but I don't recall ever being defensive about it. She did say we can call her doctor but what confused me (please don't get upset for me asking) was when it was stated that the doctor conducted appointments by phone. So if we contacted the doctor, would we be required to take an appointment or could we call...
  14. I am so glad you posted this. I noticed this about myself a lot. I do notice I am a much more tolerable person if I am not constipated. Like you said, you went today and feel like I have less outbursts. It is so embarressing to ask people this though. Ask my sweetie, I seem a little more at ease when I have normal movements.
  15. I too, was one of the skeptical ones, and even after all that dust settled I welcomed her and apologized for my posts, I was not outwardly mean to her. My concern was people who were very new would see those posts and get the wrong information. We are all here to help each other and we do a good job. I have learned a lot from everyone here. I try to post...
  16. The whole Kraft thing was that they(Kraft) wouldn't tell us that information...some chemical company would. So say one of us calls Kraft tomorrow and says to them about this information and how they "hide" things...that is us accusing them. I learned from everyone here Kraft is a good company, I personally trust them and have no had any problems with...
  17. I gave up hope on the Cocoa Puffs after all the changes, I just get the cocoa pebbles now.....
  18. I love the brownie mix, I even have fooled non-celiacs at work with them. They honestly taste like the real thing. Too bad I dont have a bag on hand....I am not craving them.
  19. Maybe you should give the diet a try you really have nothing to lose. There are some members here who have had negative bloodwork for celiac but have tried the diet and have feel all around better and that is all the proof they need to continue on. Hope this helps.
  20. I did a the time of my diagnosis, I have not had it drawn since, but it was elevated. I don't have the labs on me now, but I can get them tomorrow and see because I think there was another lab which was elevated.
  21. I love Wegmans! I will have to look for that next time I go there. Right now I travel to shop there but this summer one is opening where I live!!!
  22. We are not trying to not believe you or disagree with you in anyway, we are just trying to make sure the information is correct. Charmin is made by Proctor-Gamble, I have a relative who used to work for that company. My fiance's family uses cottonelle, I have never felt any powdry feeling. Kraft is a very reliable company, most people on this forum...
  23. Very interesting, they would never print that today. Can you imagine picking up your paper and reading that. Wow!
  24. I use Scott brand and have had no problems. I have no down there irratations. I have used I want to say Herbal Esscence shampoo and conditioner and it had contained wheat and I did get the scalp itching and irratations. I tried to research last night on the Kimberly-Clark website and did not find any helpful information. Hopefully darlindeb25 will get a response...
  25. I am not an Applebees fan, and this was from long before my celiac days. The service was always bad.
