  1. Thanks Lpellagar for that pie crust recipe!! :doing the happy dance: I just made pop-tarts, sort of! I made that crust and pushed it into little rounds w/raspberry jam inside. Threw some powdered sugar on top, yummy!! I can't wait for my dd to get home to try them!!
  2. Great news!!!
  3. I'm so happy for Tanya with the surgeons visit and am hopeful that that Tcell report is good. I'm also so sad to hear of the other baby and will pray for the mom and the rest of the family for comfort. Fiddle-Fadde ~ great posts! I think it's great that you still think of that other mom when your son celebrates a birthday and the other events....
  4. I would like to try the pie crust recipe ~ what do you think would be the best egg replacer? ITA w/Liz about the the butter vs. Crisco! Trans-fats are really, really bad for all of us! I can't use butter for my baking, but have been using Spectrum shortening, which has 0 transfats and is not hydrogenated.
  5. I'm so happy to read the last couple of updates! Fever going in the right direction and smiles!! I agree that this community is so great! I love to come here and read!
  6. Congrats to you and your dd!!
  7. Prayers for wisdom for the drs, nurses and everyone who is caring for Megan today. I pray that the fever goes down and she continues to heal and recover. I pray for Tanya, Jarod, Cole and the grandparents. I also really was sad to read about the lady there alone with her child. I pray for them also!
  8. Glad that Meg had a good day yesterday and that your parents are there! I pray that today goes smoothly with all that needs to be done today and that God gives you an extra measure of peace and some great time with both Cole and Megan. Will be on my knees tommorrow!!
  9. I agree w/what everyone has posted so far. I think you should carry something with you to offer when you need it. My dd has had food allergies all her life, and then the wheat and rice added last Fall. I suspect that they were bothering her for awhile longer, I just couldn't figure it out and the allergist was not helpful. I switched and she is feeling...
  10. Wow...that's great!
  11. Those look really good ~ I like the suggestions of quinoa flakes or coconut..mmmm! I may just have to try these myself and sub sunbutter for the pb! Will print it out for next week... we are trialing rice again right now. She ate Tinkyada pasta yesterday with no ill effects!!
  12. Glad you're doing well after donating, Vincent. Tanya, I am sure that the teething isn't helping sweet little Meg either.. Thanks for explaining about the blood. I was just curious as to how much would probably be needed. So, you also foster?!?! You are superwoman! Praying that you all have a good day today and that you get some special time...
  13. Wow, that's so great that Vincent can help with the blood donation!! And sweet to offer to go fetch them too! Tanya, is it pretty much a given that she will need a lot ofblood transfusions with her surgery? Sorry if I'm stupid about that. So many details to think of before the surgery...
  14. I'll go bookmark the caringbridge site for when Meg is having her surgery! Hoping that today was a good day!
  15. ((hugs)) ~ I'm so sorry to read what you and your little guy are going through. Go with what your gut is telling you. I was wondering, too, if you were following the gluten free diet yourself and if you were nursing him. Sounds like it could be so many different things.
  16. We don't have a 504 plan in place at our school either. I have found them very helpful and the lunch ladies all very accomodating. There was already a "peanut free lunch table" with separate bucket to wipe down the table with. They have the lines labeled as peanut-free or not and have pictures of all the kids with their allergies listed. Because of Carleigh...
  17. Well, bummer, she said that there aren't any restaurants there that are good with gluten-free/allergies. So, looks like we won't get to eat out after all. I did look at all her yummy products, but most everything had dairy in it so I won't be able to use her products either
  18. Thanks so much!! I'm going to ask Dh if we will be going near those places to stop off at. I will definitely email Julie @ Grandma Ferdons. It would be great if we could eat out at a real restaurant once during the week. I'm planning on baking enough bread, buns, cookies, etc. before we leave but would love to have a night to eat out. How cool...
  19. Sounds great! Thanks for sharing with us!
  20. ((Tanya)) ~ hoping that last night was better for your family. You and Meg are going to have such a strong testimony and will hopefully be able to use all this knowledge and experience to help someone else along the way. I'm covering you in prayer today!
  21. I also have too many pieces of printed paper so I got a 3 ring binder and those plastic sheet protectors. I figured eventually I could categorize I am not looking for anything fancy, though
  22. We were all really shocked and sad here when my daughter had to go gluten-free. It didn't take long, though, for her to realize that she felt 100% better. At 7 years old, she has only been tempted a few times to eat something that she shouldn't because she remembers the tummy aches, the vomitting etc. It's enough for her to not want those things. Hopefully...
  23. ((Tanya)) ~ thinking and praying for strength, wisdom and sleep for you! Hope that last night was a better night for Megan! I have never been in your situation, but I so know about being sleep deprived as my 7 year old did not sleep until last Fall b/c of all the itching, bleeding, oozing eczema she had.
  24. Thanks for posting this!! I am wanting to try grahams too so that my dd can have smores w/the rest of us!
  25. I'm so glad that Timothy is doing so much better! I used baby signs with all of my kids. My son was a very late talker and he used them the most!
