ARCHIVED Snapple
momandgirls replied to Kiki's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I emailed Snapple a couple days ago wondering about their drinks. They wrote back and said that everything they make is gluten free. -
ARCHIVED Welch's Juices
momandgirls posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just wondering since my daughter loves their White Grape Peach juice - is it gluten free? I emailed the company but never heard back. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Dried Spices
momandgirls replied to Ronnie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
According to McCormick, everything they manufacture is gluten free. -
ARCHIVED Gluten And Dairy Free Whipped Topping?
momandgirls posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi - I'm looking for a gluten and dairy free "cool whip" type topping. Cool Whip has milk listed in their ingredients. Anyone know of one? Thanks! -
Oops...I forgot something...I also cut off the top 1/2" to 1" of the artichoke (the pointy end). I hope you like them!!
-
My girls love artichokes. I cut off the end of the stalk and then peel the stalk - I just use a knife but you could use a veggie peeler, I think. Then I cut off the ends of the leaves (the thorn) with a kitchen scissors. Put them in a pot filled about halfway with water and simmer until a knife stuck between the stalk and the artichoke comes out easily -...

Has anyone eaten at Baja Fresh? What is gluten free? I wrote an email to the company but haven't heard back yet and we wanted to go there today for lunch. Thanks!

ARCHIVED A Hemoglobin Test?
momandgirls replied to gointribal's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hemoglobin checks the iron level in your blood. It is a simple blood test and you should have results in a couple days. Going gluten free will have no affect on the results. The test is to check for anemia. -
ARCHIVED Easter
momandgirls replied to jaimi alderson's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Jelly Belly jellybeans and Peeps are gluten and dairy free. Other than those two candies, I'm filling the Easter baskets with small toys, books, etc. -
ARCHIVED Easter Candy
momandgirls replied to DragonQueen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
When I called the company (Newborn, I think), they said that everything they make is gluten/casein free. I'm pretty sure Jelly Belly jellybeans are gluten/casein free. Don't know about any other Easter candy... -
Can anyone tell me any good recipes or mixes to make waffles and pancakes? Thanks!

ARCHIVED Annie Dressings And Ians Chicken Nuggets...
momandgirls replied to Moongirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We like the Ian's chicken nuggets. They also make fish sticks, but we haven't tried them. We haven't tried any of Annie's dressings, either - we always use oil and vinegar. -
ARCHIVED Hard Candy
momandgirls replied to momandgirls's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for your responses - does anyone know, offhand, any hard candies that are gluten and dairy free? What brands of OJ are ok for her? They have a several hour long test (standardized test) tomorrow and the teacher, I think, is just letting them each have a piece of hard candy for a treat. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Hard Candy
momandgirls posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi - Sorry, I know this is probably a silly question...my daughter has a big test coming up tomorrow and the teacher said she gives the kids hard peppermint candy and OJ during long tests (I had asked that they always inform me when they're planning on having food in the classroom). I'm thinking it's probably ok, but thought I'd ask all of you experts out... -
ARCHIVED Orgran Pasta
momandgirls posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My sister lives in Australia - where it seems that there are many more gluten free products readily available. She's visiting now and brought a bunch of mixes and things for my daughter. One of the things she brought was Orgran rice and corn pasta. It is, so far, the best pasta we've tried. I've been looking, and I can't find a place to buy it here. Has... -
ARCHIVED Casein-free Replacement For Cheese
momandgirls replied to kempy99's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I understand your concern - my daughter gets very sick with dairy. She can't tolerate any "real" dairy products - even those that say they are lactose free. She avoids all dairy with the exception of the cheese that I mentioned, which she has a minimal amount of about twice a month (pizza and tacos). Unfortunately, there is no completely dairy free cheese... -
ARCHIVED Lactulose Test
momandgirls replied to irish's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Do you mean a test for lactose intolerance? -
ARCHIVED Casein-free Replacement For Cheese
momandgirls replied to kempy99's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi - My daughter's in the same boat. However, I've found that, in very small amounts, she can handle Veggie Shreds mozzarella. It does contain casein (I just looked at the label) but, like I said, she can handle very small amounts when she definitely can't tolerate any of the "real" dairy products. -
ARCHIVED Is Pepperoni Safe To Eat?
momandgirls posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was thinking of making pizza tomorrow night - is pepperoni gluten free? is it dairy free? I would assume that it's ok but you never know...thank you! -
ARCHIVED Grocery Store Rotisserie Chicken
momandgirls replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I actually just went through this same thing this afternoon - looking for a rotisserie chicken. Boston Market chickens/turkeys are gluten free but they do contain milk, if that is an issue for you (it is for us). My other grocery store carries chickens/turkeys from Perdue. They are also gluten/dairy free but the store cooks them and they cook them alongside... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free/df Breakfast Ideas?
momandgirls replied to VydorScope's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Whole Soy and Co. makes smoothies in three flavors - strawberry, mango apricot and raspberry. They're in the refrigerated section of Whole Foods. My daughter loves them and she has one almost every day for breakfast. -
ARCHIVED Xanthan Gum
momandgirls replied to momandgirls's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We are new to the gluten free diet - only about two weeks so far - but one of the things that we really miss is baking. I haven't tried anything yet, I just noticed that all the recipes seem to call for it. I have seen some by Bobs Red Mill but I've seen here where lots of people don't seem to like that brand and have problems with it so I'm wary of buying... -
ARCHIVED Symptoms?
momandgirls replied to MomtoAlly's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I think that's what I'd do - sometimes it takes weeks to get an appointment and I'd probably get it set up as soon as I could. Good luck! -
ARCHIVED Symptoms?
momandgirls replied to MomtoAlly's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I don't have any good answers for you...but, have you taken her to a gastroenterologist? Your pediatrician should be able to give you a referral and a recommendation. Do you have a Children's Hospital nearby? They would have several GIs on staff. Just a suggestion... -
ARCHIVED Df/gluten-free Adult Complete Multi-vitamin
momandgirls replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The nutritionist gave me a sample of Freeda brand vitamins. They are dairy/gluten free. I haven't looked for them in a store so don't know how readily available they are - she said they had a website where you can order them.
