  1. My daughter's having a craving for saltines. Does anyone know if there are any saltine type crackers that are gluten and dairy free? The only crackers she's tried so far are nut thins and a few different brands of rice crackers and she hated all of them. Thanks!
  2. I know the Tyson whole roasted chickens are gluten and dairy free. They're in a plastic bowl type thing and vacuum packed. Does that make sense? It's in the refrigerated section of the store.
  3. Erewhon Crispy Brown Rice cereal is very very very close to the real thing!!!!!! They make a gluten free and a gluten containing version - make sure you pick up the right box - it says gluten free on the front of the box. It makes great rice krispie treats. Yummmy!
  4. Just got an email back from Tyson (if I knew how to post their response here I would but I'm just not that good with the computer). All their cooked roasted chickens are gluten and dairy free. In my store, they're in the refrigerated section in a plastic bowl type thing and vaccuum packed.
  5. I don't have a Sam's so I don't about that particular chicken. Around me, the stores either carry Boston Market brand which is gluten free but does contain milk (we're lactose free, too, so it doesn't work for us) and Perdue brand. When the chicken gets to the store from Perdue it's gluten free but, at least at my store, they have one oven and it's not cleaned...
  6. Do you happen to have a bread machine? When my daughter was first diagnosed, I couldn't find any bread that she was happy with. Now, we make our own bread and it is delicious! The favorite mix around our house is Pamela's amazing wheat free bread mix. I always make it in the machine, but I've heard people say they mix the dough and bake it in the oven. We...
  7. My daughter has it all the time and loves it - if I recall correctly, there are a couple flavors that are not gluten free (cookie pieces, etc.). There are two flavors she really likes. I think the names are Cherry Nirvana and Peanut Butter ZigZag.
  8. Do you mean the Mr. Clean magic eraser sponges? I've never used them but I know people that love them and say they work to get crayon off the walls...
  9. Hi - Do you have a bread machine? I couldn't find any premade bread that my daughter liked so I invested in a bread machine and now we make our own and it's so much better. The Pamela's amazing wheat free bread mix is our current favorite. She especially likes to make cinnamon raisin bread out of it. As for cookies, I most often just use a "normal" recipe...
  10. What I ordered was $9.99 - free shipping - 2 bags, 100 uses each. I thought it was a bit pricey - I guess I was feeling a bit pressured with time...if it makes life easier for my daughter (and me, I guess, since I'm the one worrying about it and packing), then I guess I felt it was worth it. If I had seen your offer before I bought it, I'm sure I would have...
  11. We always coat chicken in mashed potato flakes. It's delicious. I also use them to thicken soups or stews. I know we're in the minority, but we like Orgran pasta the best (the corn and rice mix or the animal shapes). I bought a new breadmaker and love it (Zojirushi) - Pamela's amazing wheat free bread mix is our current favorite. The Gluten Free Pantry brownies...
  12. What is JROTC? Is it lots of hard work? I've never tried pamela's cake mix, but Namaste's is great!!! I tried the chocolate cake and it was DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!
  13. Thanks Mamaw for the offer to send them! I went to Linens and Things and Bed, Bath and Beyond today and didn't see them. I ordered them, though, at www.nowonsale.com. I think it was $9. for 2 reusable bags - it was the least expensive place I could find them as they don't charge shipping and they're located, I think, in NY so it should get to me by the time...
  14. I've used that recipe above with the beef broth. Someone had posted it before on this board. It doesn't take exactly like soy sauce but I use it in stir frys and it's very good.
  15. The fact that people do not realize that pudding is dairy or that saltines have wheat seems ridiculous, I agree. I have run into this over and over again with all sorts of people. People do not realize what ingredients go into food. Most people just don't think about it and, if my family and I didn't have food issues, I'm not sure I'd think about it very...
  16. Thanks for the replies! Mamaw - I'll try Linens and Things today - there's one nearby. I've waited so long I don't think I have time to order them online and have them to get to me in time. Hopefully they'll have them. Also, thank you so much for the recipes! Haven't tried them yet but I will soon...
  17. Hi Ashley! That stinks that noone else is gluten-free in your grade... hey, maybe we could start a Pamela's fan club!!!!!!!!! Thanx for writing back!!!!!! Hey...just noticing ur avatar. I think the air force ROCKS and i actually take flying lessons...flying as in airplanes. Are you interested in planes?????
  18. Hi-o. I'm under my mum's account but i'm going to get my own as soon as i can figure it out. I've been gluten-free since March. I'm also lactose intolerant. I just turned 12 and no one I know has Celiac (well, except for a boy in my grade but I don't really know him and we aren't friends). One of my friends (a pen pal, really) is being tested but she doesn...
  19. We're going away in a couple weeks and I had heard, a while back, that someone makes toaster bags that let you put gluten free food in a regular toaster. The hotel we're staying at has a continental breakfast and I figure, if I can find the bags, I can bring along frozen pancakes or waffles or something and use the toaster bags and my daughter can have a...
  20. I think Moongirl meant www.healthyvilli.org I believe their meetings are held in Wellesley. I haven't been to one only because Wellesley is just too far from me. A nutritionist from Beth Israel Deaconess talks every month or so at various Whole Foods stores on shopping gluten free. I've been one of those talks and she is very helpful. Go to the Whole Foods...
  21. I had written an email to Ragu asking if the pizza sauce was gluten free. It looked fine from the label except for the vague "flavorings" and food starch. They wrote back and said that the food starch is from corn but they wouldn't not make a statement that was gluten free. She did eat it and was fine but I was just wondering if there were any available that...
  22. Hi - They do have a gluten free menu but we haven't been to Legal's since my daughter's diagnosis. We used to go a lot, though, and have always loved it. As for the gluten free food/wine pairing, I didn't go but I did see it advertised in the Boston Globe.
  23. I thought of that though I used some Orgran bars but it didn't seem to satisfy the craving. I'm just hoping someone actually has a recipe or knows of a brand of an actual fig newton. Thanks though for the suggestion!
  24. My daughter's having a craving for them - are there fig newton type cookies available that are gluten free? I saw some Newman's brand that are wheat free but they have barley and/or oat flour in them. Thanks!
  25. Does anyone know? I wrote an email to the company but haven't gotten a response. They look ok from the package but I just want to make sure. Thanks!
