  1. Hi - Thanks for responding but it's not the same company. I use Earth Balance, too. Smart Beat cheese is made by the same company that makes Smart Balance margarine. I've checked the website and it says nothing about gluten. Anyone else know about it? Thanks.
  2. Does anyone know if Smart Beat lactose free cheese slices are gluten free? I can't find any information on the packaging or on their website and I haven't received an email answer from them. Thanks!
  3. Thank you for the Ore Ida list!
  4. Hi - What's your opinion on using the same cookie cutters we used prior to being gluten free? They're washed well but would you use them now or buy new ones? Thanks!
  5. Freeda brand vitamins are what we use - I've never been able to find them in a store so we order them online. They have a website - www.freedavitamins.com. They were recommended by the nutritionist.
  6. I agree - both guys are very nice. We are also dairy free in our house so the only thing we've tried is the challah and it is delicious!
  7. We have the Zojirushi, too - we love it.
  8. Here's another vote for Namaste, too! It's delicious - I made it for my daughter's birthday and everyone loved it.
  9. I know we're in the minority but we don't like Tinkayada at all - our favorite is the Orgran rice and corn pasta.
  10. Does anyone know what brands of pudding mix (cooked or instant) are gluten free? Thanks!
  11. Applesauce is the easiest thing to make. Just put sliced and peeled apples in a pot - add a bit of water - not too much - about 1" or so - simmer until you get the consistency you want. You may need to add some sugar if the apples aren't too sweet. Cinnamon is good, too. Brown sugar is also good. It's hard to mess it up, really. What about baked apples? Peel...
  12. I'd love the other recipes, thanks!
  13. Our local Chili's has something called an "allergy book." It's a three ring binder that has laminated pages in it - each page gives menu suggestions for all kinds of allergies - dairy free, gluten free, nut free, soy free, etc. I was under the impression that all Chili's had this protocol in place...
  14. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I really appreciate it!
  15. Awhile back, I remember someone posting a recipe to make ice cream with Vance's DariFree "milk." Does anyone still have it? We have an ice cream maker and would love to try it. Thanks!
  16. We went to the Bugaboo Creek in Braintree last weekend. My daughter was fine. I can't remember what she ordered except that it was some sort of dinner salad with chicken. I had seen from their website that they had a gluten free menu. When I mentioned to the server that we needed that menu, she was totally confused, had no idea what gluten was and said they...
  17. I know it seems completely overwhelming at first - at least I know that's how I felt. But, my daughter didn't starve and yours won't either. Anyway, as for bread...I couldn't find any that she liked so I invested in a bread machine (which was one of the best things we've done with respect to going gluten free) and we buy bread mixes (Pamela's is our favorite...
  18. The only two groups I know of are (1) at Children's Hospital in Boston or (2) Healthy Villi. Their website is healthyvilli.org - I think they meet in Wellesley.
  19. Great choices - my daughter's read both of them and also Number the Stars. She really liked it. She was just reading over my shoulder and said that her teacher just bought The Westing Game for the classroom. She hasn't read it yet, though.
  20. Hi - Thanks for your response. We have a house at Smugglers and I've been going up there for my entire life. Anyway, we've been up since my daughter's Celiac diagnosis but it's been difficult to eat out. A few restaurants have tried their best but it's hard. So, I was just wondering if there were any restaurants that definitely had a gluten free menu. I know...
  21. I just had a look through my girls bookshelves and had some more ideas for you (though I'm not sure you need any more ideas given how many people posted answers already!). Anyway...Though not mysteries, classics are always a good choice - Cricket in Times Square, Mr. Popper's Penguins, Trumpet of the Swan, Stuart Little or Charlotte's Web. What about the...
  22. We'll be there in a few weeks...just wondering if anyone knows of any restaurants with gluten free menus. Thanks!
  23. Here are some suggestions from my daughter, age 9, a good reader, who also likes mysteries, and is in grade four: Nancy Drew Notebook series (they've redone the books so they're more updated now), American Girl mystery series and the Sammy Keyes mystery series. There's a cute book called Mini Mysteries or Mini Mysteries 2 by American Girl. It's one book with...
  24. We make our own bread using Pamela's mix. It's our absolute favorite. I was never able to find a store bought bread that we liked. I'd love to know what the lactose free American cheese is. What is the brand and where did you find it? Thanks!
