  1. My father and my aunt (and many cousins) are also diagnosed Celiac. With my little one, it seems like no matter what he gets tested for, no matter how many symptoms of that disease he may have, he is always negative. Therefore, you are probably right and the gluten free diet may be worth a try. Thanks again for the help. Nicole
  2. Well when Lucas was a baby, hypothyroid was the first thing everyone wanted to check. The doctors all said that the combination of his hypotonia, developmental delays (primarily gross motor), and the fact that the soft spot on his head was wide open until over 2 years all pointed to hypothyroidism. If there is no hypothyroid that I am not sure if there...
  3. I think I read on here once that Centrum Kids is gltuen free. Am I right? Nicole
  4. No he isn't gluten free. He is negative for the Celiac antibodies. But he does have the gluten senstivity genes (as does everyone else according to Dr. Fine). I am willing to explore all possibilities but the trick is getting these doctors to agree there is something wrong. Nicole
  5. Endo. doc. called this afternoon and left a message that his Free T4 is normal and if I have any further questions to call him. I am so discouraged. I thought for sure this was going to be it. So what will happen now, he will just continue to gain weight at this speed? He will be 70 pounds before he is 5. And the night sweats will just continue as well...
  6. Hi, this doctor just ruled out Cushing's based on his height. Which seemed odd to me because as we have learned through my other son with the Celiac, just because it isn't following the norm doesn't mean it isn't there. He is a pediatric endocrinologist but he looked very young (which really means nothing) but seemed to be stammering through his words....
  7. Hi, I am confused, if the range is 0.5 - 3.5, I was assuming anything within that range would be normal. I really need to my info. together. I will look into those link. Also, the endo. doc. only ran a Free T4 not a Free T3. I don't know what that means either. Thanks for your help. Nicole
  8. We just got back from the Endocrinologist. We really didn't like him too much. My husband mentioned the possibility of it still being Thyroid and then he agreed it could be so he sent us for blood. He said my son is too tall to have Cushing's. And he doesn't think anything hormonal would cause night sweats and hot flashes. So we really have no answers...
  9. Hi, I have been looking into Cushings as well along with anything enocrine that may be causing this. He is not short. He is about 45 inches tall and is 4 and a half years old. He was 10 and a half pounds at birth and 22 and a half inches long so he was always big. But as he grew his height and his weight always matched in percentile. He was in the 9...
  10. I am looking at the last blood results now. Under Thyroid I see TSH 2.966 with normal being between 0.350 - 5.500. It says no apparent thyroid disorder but goes on to say that in rare instances secondary hypothyroidism has been reported in patients with normal TSH values. Under that, I am not sure if this is thyroid related, it says, Sedimentation Rate...
  11. He has been tested for diabetes and thyroid and was negative for both. It was actually where we started 4 years ago because of his developmental delays, hypotonia, extreme thirst, and his soft spot would not close (stayed open until he was 2). They tested him as an infant and then again twice since then. My husband is hypothyroid so it made sense and his...
  12. You know I thought about this possibility. His enterolab gene test was negative for Celiac but they said he had 2 gluten sensitivity genes. When he sleeps (I still have a monitor in his room) I sometimes hear him make a noise like he is gagging or choking. But it is very brief and is always fine when I walk in to check. He doesn't actually snore but he...
  13. So would you say the error runs on the negative side? For example, if you got a negative you might question it? What about a positive? Do you think the Prometheus gene tests that are positive are accurate? Nicole
  14. My son's ped. GI did the biopsy first and then the gene testing and he is a very good doctor (not out for a buck). He ran the blood first which was positive and then he did the biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. The biopsy results were questionable so he then went for the genetic testing. He said that if Jacob had the Celiac gene(s) then it would only prove...
  15. I just received the gene testing results from Enterolab for my 4 year old son Lucas. It stated that he does not have the Celiac genes but that he has two gluten sensitivity genes, HLA DQ 3,1 (subtype 7,6). Now this will sound completely ignorant, but, obviously my husband and I are each carrying a gluten sensitivity gene. But my father and my older son...
  16. I am waiting for the Enterolab gene test for my 4 year old son. He probably does have Celiac, as his brother does, but we still need to rule out everything else. Besides constipation, he has been having huge weight gain. Since July he is now up 8 pounds and has horrible night sweats. He does not eat enough to cause weight gain (the kid asks to snack on...
  17. My son is 6 and was diagnosed Celiac 2 years ago. His main syptom was very severe constipation. Now gluten free he is much better. He still gets backed up easily but overall is ok. He takes fiber everyday and is on a stool softener (Miralax). Just a thought, after my sister delivered her son (she is not a Celiac) she was severely constipated as she was...

    ARCHIVED Wendy's

I actually called the nutrition hotline to ask about this and they said that the fries are gluten free but you have to check with each individual restaraunt to make sure if they are using a seperate frier or not. All of the ones I have checked into in my area of Jersey use seperate friers. Nicole
  19. That is very funny, I have been on this forum for about a year and have spent the whole time trying to figure it out too. I assumed dh was diagnosed husband until one person said their dh was not diagnosed and not fully supportive of the diet. Then I was confused. I actually just asked the same question last week. Welcome to the forum. Nicole
  20. Finally got to the GI office yesterday and he said that he believes that Jacob is backing himself up by refusing to poop at school. This does make sense because he was symptom free for the whole summer and he is a late morning pooper . So he suggested changing the schedule of his stool softener and fiber and having him sit on the toilet for 10 minutes...
  21. My father saw results that quickly too. Within the first week his D had stopped. My son's symptom was constipation so I took longer to see any change. I think that is a harder problem to turn around. We still have issues but my father swears he felt much better within that first week. Nicole
  22. With both my pregnancies I did not show util I was well into the 4th month (maybe closer to 5 months). I did get a little thicker before that but I was wearing my regular clothes until that point. With my second son I know for sure that I was almost 5 months because one day I woke up and looked pregnant. I went to work in a maternity outfit that day and...
  23. Just a question about this, my son just tested negative for the antibodies through a blood test. He really only eats gluten at lunch time as his brother is gluten free and therefore breakfast and dinner always are. The cookies and snack food in the house are all gluten free. So as I said, he is only eating gluten for 1 meal a day. Does that sound like...
  24. I can actually answer on both sides. My oldest son was diagnosed celiac through blood and biopsy and then we went gluten free. Even though my father has it, I was not well informed on the symptoms so since my son's did not match my dad's, celiac wasn't even a though. My youngest son has symptoms, again not the typical ones, and shows no antibodies. I...
