ttg iga weak positive?
Wheatwacked replied to DanilClent's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No. Celiac Disease is a disease of malnutrition. Doctors learn to treat diseases but almost nothing about the vitamins and minerals which we need to convert food to life energy. One example: "Choline has received considerable attention due to its inverse association with adverse health outcomes that can occur across the life cycle, including birth... -
Possible Celiac?
Wheatwacked replied to VictoriaSmith's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Although it seems odd that she would do tests for everything but Celiac Disease, your doctor is not ignoring Celiac Disease. She's cutting to the chase. Testing will not identify Non Celiac gluten sensitivity NCGS (10% of the population) and may or may not identify Celiac (1% of the population). If you improve with GFD I expect she would then have you restart... -
Are some of us over doing our Protein intake ??
Wheatwacked replied to Jackie Garrett's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Too much fat, too much protein, and not enough exercise have all been bandied about as the cause of all our ills since the sixties and yet as a population we are getting sicker. H Pylori is an infectious disease caused by poor sanitation and is not easy to get rid of. It, like Celiac Disease causes nutritional deficiencies and these deficiencies cause symptoms... -
If nothing else a new toaster will be a daily reminder. As important as GFD is the second step to living with Celiac, is adopting a diet rich in vitamins and mineral because Celiac Disease causes malabsorption. Some 20 vitamins and minerals are absorbed in the small intestine. Seven have been researched in relation to Celiac, the rest simply ignored...

Hi @LCArseneault Welcome to the Forum. I am sorry to hear of your miscarriages. Congrats on the new pregnancy. My wife had three miscarriages before our son was born in 1976. He was diagnosed with Celiac as an infant when he was weaned. You would think that 42 years later there would be progress but there is still denial. It took a few months of Nutramagen...

Are some of us over doing our Protein intake ??
Wheatwacked replied to Jackie Garrett's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
"They" want us to believe it is our choice of food that makes us sick. Distracts us thinking about wheat in canned goods like tomato soup, to addict us and buy more. Or that the omega 6:3 in our diet is as high as 20:1 instead of the optimum 2:1. The staples foods we eat have been manipulated to increase profit, far more than health while increasing inflammation... -
Am I Coeliac?
Wheatwacked replied to carlisima's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm not sure but I think the yeast infection is the goal to focus on. Every time you kill of the yeast you are killing good bacteria and back to zero. If GFD makes you feel better... Odd the timing with the diet change and all. Nutrient Deficiencies? -
Roux en' y surgery, Celiac and Me
Wheatwacked replied to Georgia Dan T's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When you next get blood drawn ask for homocysteine, vitamin D, B12 and folate. The bariatric surgery in itself can cause malnutrition. There is a pattern that high homocysteine and liver issues is an indication of low choline. The good news the minimum RDA for choline is four large eggs, or 15 ounces of steak or 10 cups of cooked broccoli every day. The maximum... -
Almost sure I have it
Wheatwacked replied to Lilyofthevaley's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome @Lilyofthevaleyto Celiac.com I am glad you are feeling better on GFD but sorry to say if you intend to pursue a diagnosis you must continue eating gluten. Read this from the Merck Manual: Celiac Disease for some background. This is the treatment for infants up until 1950. The results were good but at the time essential vitamins and... -
Given her age and health, is she on Lisinopril or a generic for it to control blood pressure? The short time I was on it I got an inguinal hernia from the persistent cough, a known and common side effect of Lisinopril. Multiple vitamin and minerals deficiencies are often found in Celiac Disease.

"Conclusively, the prevalence of H. pylori examined on antrum biopsies of celiac patients and on patients who underwent routine gastroscopy procedure were found to be lower in the celiac group, but the difference was not statistically significant... eradication of H. pylori should be considered before gluten-free diet.9 All these data and our study suggest... -
What is your homocysteine, B12, folate and vitamin D blood plasma? If your homocysteine is high, you are not getting enough choline in your diet. That is a cause of liver dysfunction. You can start that while waiting for you consultation before starting GFD. Folate Nutriture Alters Choline Status of Women and Men Fed Low Choline Diets Hepatic folate...

Problems with celiac....
Wheatwacked replied to brainy916's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi @brainy916. It can take a while to undo the damage. Six months to two years seems to be common. The Western Diet, often called the SAD or MAD diet (Standard or Modern American Diet) is terribly lacking in some minerals and vitamins. That is why breakfast cereals and other processed food are fortified. When you stop eating those fortified foods you need... -
You are suffering from malnutrition. Try googling a symptom and vitamin deficiency. For example: Thrush and choline. You will find references to vitamin D, B12, folate, iodine, choline. 95% of our cell membranes is phosphatidyl Choline. In one study they found that eating two eggs instead of a bagel at breakfast caused weight loss. Thrush and nausea...

Congratulation. If you count a trial GFD you know. You can get tested afterward. Make sure you get enough folate, choline, iodine in addition to the other B vitamins. Iodine and fertility: do we know enough? Choline-what it is, and why it's as important in pregnancy as Folate A recent study found women taking 4,000 IU of vitamin D daily had...

Positive family negative me
Wheatwacked replied to SamUK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
How much is enough choline? The RDA minimum is 550 for men. The upper tolerable limit is 3500 mg. That is between 135 to 826 grams of liver a day. Or 4 to 23 large hard boiled eggs. Or 9 to 56 cups of cooked broccoli. For less than $20 you can get a bottle and try it. Or spend much more to test, but still not know. Same with Thiamine. Choline’s role i... -

Wheatwacked replied to SamUK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Gilberts syndrome is a nice way out for the doctor. No cure, no treatment, and even if you are jaudice, yellow eyes, well, no problem. According to research from 2021, floating stools are a symptom of a malabsorption syndrome. The stool may also be greasy and large and smell foul. By the way, what color is your poo? Gilberts would be clay colored. Given... -

Have they scheduled you for a biopsy? BSG Interim Guidance: COVID-19 specific non-biopsy protocol for those with suspected coeliac disease -
Continue to eat gluten free. Because gluten is addictive, your subconscious brain will find all sorts of reasons to eat wheat, barley or rye. There is none. It does you harm. Now you need to address your specific vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

Before my infant son was diagnosed by biopsy, they told my wife it just colic and it was her anxiety making it worse. They wanted her to take Valium.

Gluten Ataxia?
Wheatwacked replied to Krystal K.'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
In the US an official medical diagnosis of Celiac Disease still requires a biopsy of the small intestine, or a skin biopsy if you have a rash that could be dermatitis herpetiformis. In the UK under COVID protocols if you are under 55 and you have symptoms consistant with Coeliac Disease and your IgA ttG test is greater than 10X the Upper Limit of Normal and... -
Welcome to this forum @NataLee. Sorry to hear your problem, it can be very frustrating to hear doctors say "we don't know, worst one ever"! Have you had any testing for Celiac Disease done? Did this happen suddenly? Are you on medication for something that could cause this as a side effect? Other symptoms? Could your symptom be caused by Celiac...

CELIAC DISEASES VS. BLOCKAGES IN SMALL INTESTINES
Wheatwacked replied to PATTYABER's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My dad had that when he was 84. He had to have a colonoscopy after because his intestines were like lace. Funny, all the research I did when my brother had a stoma from intestine to bladder fixed indicated a high success rate for the operation. Intestinal surgery has a high survival and success. So why do such a large number of people with one surgery often... -
Some vitamin deficiencies to think about: Gallbladder and liver - choline deficiency Thyroid - iodine and selenium vitamin d - a healthy lifeguard in August has a vitamin plasma of 80 ng/ml. Vitamin D has autoimmune moderating effect and mood stabilizing. I require 10,000 IU a day to maintain it. My son, an ocean lifeguard in Florida,...
