  2. OK, so a week or so ago I made homemade corn chips only ate a few as I was going to take them to work with me, used cut up corn tortillas deep fried in canola oil.... later had all the usual suspected symptoms on a "minor" scale. But as they did not store well at all was unable to eat the rest. Bought a bag of fritos while shopping the other day and...

  5. buy lots for me, I have to travel 60 miles to locate a health food store, walmart or anything "really good", best I have is 3 small town grocery stores, a very small k-mart and a "pamida" most of my shopping is done online for gluten free stuff.... amazon .com actually has some the catchis, you have to buy a case at a time, but for stuff you use alot, its...
  6. I have simular problems, however in one direction that I work they are very familar with my "eating issues" and the "regulars" who work in that direction have made a special place for them tomake their sandwiches etc, it doesn't solve all my problems but the ones who are aware do make an effort not to make me ill, I have occationally returned to favor so...
  7. I know my local doctors are idiots, but am used to that as I have lived in small towns all my life..... I think back to the one who said "you have migraine's because when you were 16 you fought with your mother and you dont go to church on sunday" granted I did fight with my mother at 16, who didn't? And at the time I worked sunday mornings, so no I wasn...
  8. I was handed a list of foods my cousin could no longer eat, she didnt know why. My doctor didnt offer any answers he sent me away with more pills that didn't fix anything. I took "the list" to the local dietician who did a bit more research, I think she may have actually looked at it, she said that "most" of the things on my "list" contained gluten...
  9. In my dream kitchen I want it open to the rest of the house, I have being "cut off" from friends and family when I cook and they are all visiting! I want those drawers for the pots and pans mentioned above but in EVERY cabinet! Corners will be outlawed!!! I hate searching and finagling to get something out (in my last kitchen) or the "lazy susan" corners...
  10. going to try that next time I am home see how I like them, thx!
  11. I would like to see it also, my nephew is coming to visit this fall, he has egg issues, I have gluten issues, would be a nice compromise! Anyone want to hire out as my chef for the 10 days he will be here, would only have to shuffle his multiple food allergies and my gluten, lol
  12. In my "real life" I am a railroad engineer, I work the "road" meaning when my phone rings 24/7/365 I have to be at work in 90 minutes and be prepared to be gone for 12-48 hours. I know EXACTLY what you go thru with hotels, we stay in what they call a "complex" ... fancy name for a bad hotel... I travel in 4 directions from my home terminal.... West...
  13. I cant say for sure I feel or felt worse (its only been a couple months since totall gluten freeness) I did however start cutting it out of my diet well before as I suspected it was the problem, I just didnt have the knowledge I have gained in the past couple months to see it hidden in other things... I can pretty much say for the last 2 months I have...
  14. Well, I can't say "welcome back" as I haven't met you before, I am however pleased to meet you and am very glad you popped back into our little world... I have a thought on "normal" however to share with everyone... Everyones determination of normal differs, my sister did not think it was "normal" for me to want to leave my first husband, my friends...
  15. I was actually amazed today while shopping at my "local" store, I found "bob's red mill" stuff on their shelves, normally I just had avoided that aisle, who needs flour anyways right, well DUH! there it was plain as day, not any I had tried as yet, but will see.
  16. OK, so i returned with some good gluten free stuff from the local grocery store, and I am sad to say I did not get the trix, the label scared me to death, so many things listed I had no clue about, will save that for next week.... did replace my swansons beef broth however as that label scared me as well, found a nice simple one! see the cooking section...
  17. The swansons beef broth label scared me (yes I really am that new, lol), so I gave all mine away, I had a few spare minutes and it was on my mind found the following at my local "safeway" grocery store: "Kitchen Basics" natural beef flavor cooking stock (also had vegan and chicken with same basic claims and simple easy to read and say names in the ingredients...
  18. OMG say its not a dream, really me and the bunny can speak again, he's prolly so mad at me he will hide when I try to go buy some!
  19. I know what you mean, if "they" dont have a close relative they generally assume things they have no clue about... Ignorance may be bliss but not when it comes to this! One idea, however cruel, would be to print off every single side effect, false diagnosis's, the list of safe and unsafe foods, including your own personal restrictions and have...
  20. Is it a bad thing when you want to cry while your record amounts of remaining gluten soaked pasta walk out the door to go be eaten at the neighbors house and you know she will be using your favorite recipes that you sent along with it that she drooled over when she came over for supper? I know I shouldn't worry it will all just make me ill, but I still...
  21. Ursa Major..... Can I just say anytime I get to feeling sorry for myself and being on this diet just smack me! WOW can't even imagine being on your diet at all. I am however going to talk to my hubby's aunt as she was diag with fibro a couple years ago and now at the ripe age of 55ish she is living in an assisted living facilty and popping codene like...
  22. Well, I am no vet but I have owned a few cats in my time, only one lasted to the ripe old age of 14 and in my opinion if he wants onion breath by golly let him eat onions how many girlfriends does he have that will mind anyways? On a more serious note hope he gets to feeling better very soon.
  23. I found a recipe for gluten free torilla chips... gluten-free corn tortilla's deep fried in canola oil however while they were great right after cooking (other than the high oil content which I disliked and could do without) they dont store well at all... just 12 hours later and they are all "soggy" any other ideas?
  24. Ok, this prolly is no way related, but on the off chance... About 6 years ago I had surgery, and one certain spot on the incission (sp) never healed right, it would go away, then reappear, go away, reappear, dr after dr told me "its s stitch working its way out... Wonder if now that I am gluten-free it will disappear or not, never have seen that elusive...
