  1. According to the Clan Thompson online Gluten Checker they do not have any ingredients listed that contain gluten. And they are a Kraft Co. - Kraft is very good about labeling. However read the label before eating. I looked at Ballpark ALL BEEF franks in the supermarket last week and it had "wheat gluten" in the ingredients, so I don't trust most...
  2. The Clan Thompson Smarlist shows the following margarines as gluten-free: Blue Bonnet Regular (Quarters) Fleischmans Original and Unsalted Sticks The above are made by ConAgra Also: HyVee Corn Oil Quarters and Vegetable Oil Quarters AND Bowl. There are others on the list like Denny's Liquid or Whipped Safeway/Vons/Domicks/Randalls...
  3. The following are gluten-free: Boston Bold and Spicy Maple Cured Bacon Country Style Barbeque A quote from their website: (so it's just the chili stuff that's not gluten-free). Product Info Open Original Shared Link Are any of your products gluten-free? Which ones? All of our Bush's Best products are gluten-free with the exception...
  4. Try "Udderly Smooth Udder Cream" (it comes in a jar with the black and white COW print). You can get it at Amazon, CVS, many places. I use it on my body and when I really was broken out with DH it was the only lotion/cream I could use without making me itch and break out more. It's very light and it absorbs fast and does a good job and it smells very...
  5. Plain Oil and Vinegar are always Gluten Free (assuming it's not Malt Vinegar!). I have figured out that about half are gluten-free and half are not - amongst the supermarket selections. Watch for "Modified FOOD Starch" (needs to be potato, corn or other non-glutened source). I've found several brands that are gluten-free - and my experience says...
  6. I don't know if their RATE of Celiac (per capita) is more or not. But I DO know from being there that Bread and Pasta are not as prevalent an item in their diet. And they have more "pure foods" even in restaurants (less thickeners, starch addititives, less "things" in their ingredient lists). For instance, when one goes to a restaurant ("chains" are...
  7. According to the Clan Thompson Drug Smartlist, the Advanced Chewable Tablets are gluten-free. But that's the only Imodium product listed by Clan Thompson as gluten-free...... The info was accurate as of 4/2006.
  8. Go to the web page in your browser. Right click the address in the address line of the browser. Select "copy". Go to the Forum (here). Create a post (either new topic or reply) Right click in the post's text area (the place where you type). Select "paste" and the link will be pasted into your post.
  9. Here's the link: Open Original Shared Link according to the site their 5-lb bag is gluten-free. But need to look at exactly which type you have and then the size and compare to this list.
  10. Oh my gosh - eKatherine - you are so correct! It's called developing a hypersensitivity where one was pre-disposed (by genes). MY OWN experience agrees with that!!! (and I didn't even think of that when I wrote)..... 5 years ago I was having a lot of embarassaing gas and I was IBS-like (mostly constipated). I read a book about IBS and it said...
  11. Spelt doesn't CAUSE Celiac Disease! So having the "less-gluten (reportedly) Spelt in Germany" doesn't have much to do with the inherent RATE of the population with Celiac (except maybe it's reported less because people don't react). Anyway, it would be interesting to know the things you question. One of the people on this site is a German and probably...
  12. It has been noted on this forum in the recent past that Ore-Ida Tater Tots (most/all types) are Gluten Free! I looked at the ingredients about 6 months ago and thought they weren't. Then I looked again recently and they appeared ok from the label. Clan Thompson's Smartlist (recent release) has most of Ore-Ida's products as gluten-free but does not...
  13. I understand your dilemma completely. I am very lucky to not be underweight (I have DH and no intestinal symptoms) and able to afford pretty much what I want. HOWEVER, I still have the problem with unwittingly getting gluten'd by food that looks ok by the label or by the word of someone who THINKS they know. I have discovered that eating in restaurants...
  14. Kitty says meow. She's sleeping on my arm and sort of on the keyboard as I write! And how about if the harvesting and processing of the wheat is different too? That's what some claimed in Germany - that their "process" for harvesting and processing the wheat for use "cleaned more gluten out of it" than we do here in USA! That's a thought too! ...
  15. I have DH. While in the throes of trying to get a diagnosis I had spontaneous recovery of my rash THREE TIMES - all 3 were when I spent time in Germany!! The next time I went AFTER dx I started asking questions there and was told that their "wheat" has "less gluten that is a problem for the stomach" (Germans speaking English). They said that they have...
  16. According to all the "smartlists" and databases I was able to check just now, Heinz 57 Ketchup IS gluten-free!! All Heinz Ketchups EXCEPT THE ORGANIC (which I've never seen in the store) are gluten-free. I just looked at my bottle, and the ingredients look fine. Wondering where you got that info! Below is quoted from the Heinz web site: ...
  17. I decided to write SlimFast and ask them about their shakes. (I still need to lose weight!). Here's their "legalese" response. I wonder what they are going to send me! At least they are consulting the right organization..... Dear Ms. George, Thank you for contacting us with your question about the presence of wheat gluten in Slim-Fast products...
  18. It would seem that if the toaster is new and never used before, and you make sure you always do gluten'd things on the same side and gluten-free on it's side, and they have separate crumb receptacles, and you were careful when you clean it (don't let crumbs from one side migrate to the other in the cleaning process, then you should be ok. I have been using...
  19. I'm a convert! I now buy gfbreadbasket.com breads. They can be eaten plain, no butter, not toasted! The Cinnimon Raisin and Mock Rye are GREAT no matter how you eat them. Open Original Shared Link I'm also fond of Ener-g breads: Open Original Shared Link They are NOT cheap! From $6 - 9 per 18 slice loaf (approx). And shipping can be a bit...
  20. I am an EXTREMELY picky eater! I had a gluten-free bun early on in the gluten-free diet. It was AWFUL. Gagging awful. So I was REALLY REALLY skeptical when someone on here said that the Gluten Free Breadbasket breads were really good. I had just about resigned myself to never having bread, rolls, pasta, pancakes, etc ever again in my life. BUT...
  21. That's why I buy all my vitamins and supplements from Vitamin Shoppe - via Open Original Shared Link. Their own brand is almost always gluten, yeast, wheat, dairy, soy, etc free. And they are usually much cheaper than at the stores. Generally if I buy locally, I buy Kirkland brand at Costco or Berkely Jensen at BJ's. The ones I have now are gluten...
  22. Below quoted about millet. It does not have gluten. However CC could be an issue depending on what food it's in and mfg process. My milk thistle has millet and I've not had a problem (Vitamin Shoppe brand). Open Original Shared Link "Millet is highly nutritious, non-glutinous and like buckwheat and quinoa, is not an acid forming food so...
  23. I just got my shipment today from the gluten-free Bread Basket!! Last time I got the Country Sandwich (White) and this time I got the Mock Rye, Cinnamon Raision and the white. They are EXCELLENT!! They taste like real bread - even more so if toasted. The Rye even SMELLS like rye bread (I think the smell we associate with Rye is the Caraway Seeds...
  24. I do not have any problems with touching gluten. I feed my 94-yr-old father whole wheat toast and cookies and triscuits, and Ritz and sandwiches and many other gluten'd foods. I touch them a lot to make and feed them. I also assume I "breathe" them too (but not much!). It turns out that most of my favorite lotions, soaps, shampoos, creams don't have gluten...
  25. Maltodextrin is made from Corn. It is a "saccharide" (sugar) - not anything to do with Malt as in Wheat, Barley or Rye. Do a Google search on the word on it and many sites will confirm this.
