  1. My guess would be fat, avocadoes are high in fat and the enzyme lipase. They are also high in potassium.
  2. I ate an atkins type diet for 3 years, just meats, vegetables and fats. I didn't intentionally eat this way, I was having candida issues and all grains/starches were making me really sick, so it was out of necessity. It really messed my system up, my bowels completely stopped, I lost an alarming amount of weight, I had no energy, my heart beat really slowly...
  3. I agree eKatherine. I was going to say that I thought cravings were the body's natural way to signal deficiencies. Also I have read they can be about balance in the body, and the yin and yang of energy. For example, if you eat a lot of salt, then often you crave something sweet to balance it out (i.e. salty sunflower seeds/popcorn chased by a soda) And...
  4. Sorry, I can't be of much help, but did you try the Doctor category? Also each state usually has an organization of Psychiatric Professionals, you could probably find a list of qualified/board certified Psychiatrists in your area on the internet. I'm not exactly sure what the specific organization is called to do a search, but maybe start with "Psychiatrists...
  5. I think it's a different time frame for everyone. From reading different posts on this board it looks like it's a mixed bag. Several people are forever battling and trying to figure out their multiple food intolerances, while others cut out one or two things and they get immediate results and thrive.
  6. Very informative link, thanks for posting
  7. Turtle, I have seen Giovanni products at all of my health food stores, I haven't really looked in the main stream groceries or drug stores so I don't know. The website might have a store locator, if you can stand taking the time to visit it again Isn't it a hoot, it really should be up for at least an Academy Award or something My...
  8. Thanks everybody for the birthday wishes
  9. Thanks Patti for verifying Giovanni haircare is gluten-free. This gluten-free business gets confusing sometimes You have to be up for viewing the website, believe me, it's quite the production, and a little annoying when you are just trying to get some quick info But if you do have time to waste it is beautifully done. You just click on the...
  10. I finally got on to the gma site, here is what they sat about Sara's appearance (on first glance I don't notice any mention of anything gluten-free): July 11, 2006 — Every year, "Good Morning America's" food editor Sara Moulton navigates her way through aisle after aisle at the Fancy Food Show. At this year's 52nd Summer Fancy Food Show, 160,000 f...
  11. Thanks Berneses, I LOVE your new pic too It seems to me also, that pretty much everything has lectins in it. I recall looking over the list thinking, what would one eat? Practically everything would have to be eliminated. We are all suppose to eat sardines, but I can't bring myself to. Just can't do it
  12. Thanks Andrea I'll look at that thread, what category is it in? I only had the one tortilla, so I don't know...I seemd to be ok after it. I've been eating a little dairy here and there and I think I am going to have to eliminate it completely, not even for an ocasional indulgence Ever since I did my version of the gluten challenge I am so much...
  13. That doesn't sound very appetizing . Anything for the almighty dollar I guess. I tried New Zealand whey protein powder a few years ago and it gave me cyst acne around the jaw line. I guess it was a good thing it didn't agree with me.
  14. So is Hain Featherweight Baking Powder
  15. Looks like I might have to do the same, an Aubrey shampoo with a Giovanni conditioner. Either that or all Giovanni. The Giovanni website kind of cracks me up, it's like a fortress to get in there and then the music and the bubbles and the poems, very dramatic....
  16. A banana and a tablespoon of almond butter
  17. Congratulations on your pizza success! It looks just like the real thing.
  18. Looks like a good recipe Thanks for sharing! So are Bette Hagman's mixes all about the beans? Does she have any mixes without bean flours? Or can any brand flour mix substitute here? I'm also staying away from legumes and the bean flours.
  19. I know, she is so good at that. She enjoys her food so thoroughly, makes my mouth water. It's better you don't have to suffer through that any longer. That is until Chelse gets her own show on the network and makes us all glorious gluten-free goodies ala Paula, you'll need your cable back for when that day comes. I only...
  20. Ampulla of vater, what a lovely name. How fortunate for you to be so "interesting" Donna At least you have lots of good minds looking over your case, maybe they can figure something out collectively?
  21. What exactly is whey??? Just curious
  22. Was it Sara Moulton? I didn't see it but.....I tried to do a search at gma and they are having a netwok outage Usually they will have the recipes of the foods that were shown on air on the website.
  23. RiceGuy, Ursula is also a good one to go to for info about lectins, she seems to be the expert in that department
