ARCHIVED I Think Ian's Changed It's Nugget Recipe
mommida replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If it seems like actual chicken, I will try the cutletts. I really hated the nuggets. L. -
I wouldn't eat it. I'm pretty sensitive and could end up feeling pretty sick for three days. Donate the items to family or close friends (non-celiacs of coarse). L.

ARCHIVED Everything Fits For Celiac But The Genes
mommida replied to Jennifer Cook-Chrysos's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Take him off casein. That means milk, whey, and the whole casein list. As far as the gene testing... I supposedly don't have the known genes either, but my biological daughter has both DQ2 and DQ8. We have the same reactions to the same gluten foods. You have to follow your gut reaction on this, and someday science will catch up. L. -
ARCHIVED Tom Sawyer Flour
mommida replied to nursestherapies's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think the Tom Saywer flour is new, because I ran accrross an article last week about the new product. Post any other information you find about it or how well it works. L. -
ARCHIVED Someone Please Just Tell Me What To Do!
mommida replied to JenP's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
IMO Great doctors are the ones who listen to their patients. Go back to the doctor you feel comfortable with, if he feels you should be with a specialist pull out refferal for the new doc your friend loves. L. -
ARCHIVED Tooth Enamel Defects
mommida replied to TCA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My six year-old son has had about five cavities so far. His baby teeth came in early and so have his adult teeth. He has had sealents applied. At first the dentist gave us a full lecture on dental hygeine, and then he researched Celiac. He applied the sealent extra thick and has plans of closer monitoring. L. -
ARCHIVED Good Bread?
mommida replied to HillaryT's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You could try Chebe bread. Most gluten-free bread just doesn't do it for me. If you toast it or grill it you can barely tell the difference. L. -
ARCHIVED House Tv Show Will Feature Celiac Disease
mommida replied to irish's topic in Publications & Publicity
It's probably just a plotline inconsistency, but we are probably going to have to answer some questions about it on here soon. As I do not have enough information to give a 100% '"Your perfectly safe" answer for people, I will have to consider researching this further. L. -
ARCHIVED House Tv Show Will Feature Celiac Disease
mommida replied to irish's topic in Publications & Publicity
I'm quite rushed today, but I remember that too. If I remember right House said the drug was administered to the baby (showed scenes of Chase injecting baby) and wheat gluten was a binder in the drug. We had better double check where we stand on i.v.'s and injected medications. L. -
ARCHIVED Big Time Advice Needed. Feeling Lost....
mommida replied to ageearmywfe's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome to the board! You can get the biopsy, find out where you are at in level of damage and rule out any other problems. The number of biospy samples taken can be like searching for a needle in a haystack. It's not a 100% realiable. If you have internet service when you get to Texas, then you have this forum as your support group. Really, whatever... -

That's how it is here. We are full of TMI! Until they pull the thread. L. -
ARCHIVED Can Someone Tell Me If This Sounds Like Celiac...
mommida replied to HeatherG's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes. Those symptoms can be Celiac or gluten intolerance. Get the blood test panel done as soon as possible, while she is still eating gluten! Have the endoscopy with biopsy. If all those tests are completed and are negative, start the gluten free diet anyway. L. -
ARCHIVED House Tv Show Will Feature Celiac Disease
mommida replied to irish's topic in Publications & Publicity
"Why yes, yes I do! They are telling me to feed you gluten. Right now. L. -
ARCHIVED House Tv Show Will Feature Celiac Disease
mommida replied to irish's topic in Publications & Publicity
Maybe they told the story from too much of a doctor's perspective, because haven't we complained on here for years that the doctors we've been to keep blowing us off like we're crazy? L. -
ARCHIVED House Tv Show Will Feature Celiac Disease
mommida replied to irish's topic in Publications & Publicity
I think they worked the post pregnancy part into the story line because that is a trigger for the Celiac gene. The show will bring out the more "overlooked" symptoms to make the diagnoses fit on many levels, and to keep the audience in awe and wonder. L. -
ARCHIVED House Tv Show Will Feature Celiac Disease
mommida replied to irish's topic in Publications & Publicity
Kinda upset it makes us HOT CELIAC Chicks look totally mental, and questionable mothers. L. -
ARCHIVED House Tv Show Will Feature Celiac Disease
mommida replied to irish's topic in Publications & Publicity
That was one of the hardest things to watch. How heartbreaking. My husband said ,"thank God we didn't have to go through anything like that to get diagnosed. As for those complications... I have brain calcifications, and have bled excessively after surgery (vitamin K defiency) my breast fed infant had symptoms, but wasn't diagnosed until she was 17 months... -
ARCHIVED Pain Lower Right Side
mommida replied to Sharon K. Wolfgram's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I complained about this pain in the lower right side to a doctor. He said that is where the colon is, and pain in that area, (like I described) could be spastic colon. L. -
ARCHIVED Have Symptoms But Tested Negative?
mommida replied to Guinevere's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I went gluten free before testing because the doctor assured me that would be fine. (IDIOT doctor!!) I can't eat gluten without getting sick too. I decided the gluten challenge for testing is just not worth it. Trust your body on this. L. -
ARCHIVED Im gluten-free - Have I Messed Up Test Results?
mommida replied to sarahm19's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The testing for Celiac is looking for damage caused by your ingestion of gluten. You have definately skewed the testing. L. -
ARCHIVED A Mom Needs Help Here.....
mommida replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm checking on some products. Chebe bread mixes are a good start for different bread. You will have to watch your additions for the mixes. Keep offering all fruits and vegetables. (Not that I really consider this the best advice, but we just adopted a bunny. The kids are eating more fresh vegetables, as they prepare Esbaugh's snacks.) It is overwhelming... -
ARCHIVED Wierd Stomic Noises And Feelings
mommida replied to Lister's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms

ARCHIVED Sex, Desire And Whether Other People Can Handle This
mommida replied to eleep's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My husband and I will celebrate our 15 years of marriage this September. We have been together for nearly eighteen years. He didn't run when I was sick, he was very supportive. When we finally figured out what this was, relief it wasn't cancer or some thing out of control, and a very DEEP respect. I had to do the research and guide doctors, and the full... -
Who's Celiac Was Triggered By Gallbladder Removal?
mommida replied to shellbean's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
From articles I have read there is a 30% higher risk for Celiacs to have gall bladder problems. Some articles say that early on in Celiac that the gall bladder does not function properly (sorry I forgot the percentage of malfunction). I have been looking into this because I think I am actually having full blown gall bladder attacks. When you have the pain... -
