ARCHIVED Time For School....how Do I Choose One?
mommida replied to debbie-doodles's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We researched public schools in the area. We bought a house in the preffered school district, and it was a nightmare! The No Child Left behind law is a loophole nightmare. The lunchroom setting is a gluten mess. My children know what they can and can not eat and cross contamination was a major issue. Behaviour problems because of some children being... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Angel Food Cake
mommida replied to 2Boys4Me's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I use the gluten free pantry's mix. I've done sponge cakes from scratch (the kosher brand of potato starch has a great recipe on the box) Good luck with the recipe,I haven't tried it. L. You won't be able to tell the difference from gluten cake, because the egg whites give the texture to the cake. -

ARCHIVED Breast Implants And Celiac Disease
mommida replied to Mayam's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You didn't hurt my feelings. I don't believe I hurt your feelings. Just have a care when you post that things don't get taken the wrong way. I'm only disappointed your informative posts will get taken the wrong way and people will choose the ignore user option. L. -
ARCHIVED Breast Implants And Celiac Disease
mommida replied to Mayam's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
OK It wasn't "we" It was "I" had to learn how to watch how to word my opinions here. I regret hurting someone's feelings unintentionally. I think you are writing some very intelligent posts, but the message is getting lost in a negative tone. L. -
ARCHIVED Need Help With Toddler And Possible Celiac Disease
mommida replied to sarahjo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Testing in children, especially under 24 months is not very reliable. If there is an improvement on the diet and a positive gene, that is enough for most doctors to say a gluten free diet is the right direction. Find a doctor that is caring enough to take into account your child's well being while trying to determine what your child's health issues are... -
ARCHIVED Breast Implants And Celiac Disease
mommida replied to Mayam's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Just offer the information sites and say you don't believe the information presented was the best source. We have to learn to think a little longer before we post, because a person's feelings can get hurt. Thank you everyone for posting your information, pros and cons of breast implants. L. -
ARCHIVED What Does This Sound Like To You?
mommida replied to Jeagbenne's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm a bit distracted at the moment and don't feel like I will explain this right. Try searching for information on gall bladder (linked to Celiac) or possibly spastic colon. With out more information from you, like your age, how long have you been gluten free it a bit difficult to guide you much further. L. -
ARCHIVED Breast Implants And Celiac Disease
mommida replied to Mayam's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Cultureslayer, It seems to me you are responding a bit too harshly. The topic was breast implants. I think the question in mind has to do with a Celiac puting a foreign substance into their body. L. -
ARCHIVED Going Gluten Free
mommida replied to betsy7's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
In the first two years of the diet, any gluten accident ended up with vomiting or "D". If my daughter has an accidental gluten exposure, her belly bloats and she doesn't feel well but not as noticeable. *****Keep emergency wonderful gluten free treats on hand ALL the time!!! Something your child LOVES. People offer kids all kinds of stuff, all the time... -
ARCHIVED Getting Pregnant With So Many Health Issues?
mommida replied to Green12's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I respect anyone who chooses not to become parents. I respect anyone who would choose to be a parent too. juliem, You are all ready acting like a parent, considering the needs and well being of your future children at this time before they are even on the way. No person or child is perfect, and parenthood is learning about unconditional love. The very... -
ARCHIVED My 2 Yr Old Daughter Has Dh
mommida replied to Deepster's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I'm posting mainly to bump. Check all the houshold hygeine products for hidden gluten and keep a food journal to find out if there are other sensitivities. Check the controversial food lists, most of the time they don't contain gluten but a damaged gut reacts badly. Have you also been casein free? L. -
ARCHIVED Vaccines?
mommida replied to odcdinah's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think every doctor should hand over the vaccine package insert before the injection. The patient should then READ the ENTIRE vaccine insert and make an informed consent. It is irresponsible on the doctor and the patient to ignore the information that should be available. L. -
ARCHIVED Getting Pregnant With So Many Health Issues?
mommida replied to Green12's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I ate gluten for my pregnancies. (wasn't diagnosed) I felt great! I gained weight better than a champ, without changing my diet very much. A woman's immune system goes into a lower gear during pregnancy, other wise it would kill the foreign body. If I had made a decision not to have kids because of fear for their future health or mine, I would have missed... -
ARCHIVED Vaccines?
mommida replied to odcdinah's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Before there were a few cases of wild Polio reported (an Amish community), the recent cases have been from the vaccine. It wasn't always the vaccinated person. It is one of the reasons the live oral vaccine has been replaced with the attenuated version. L. -
ARCHIVED How Long Without Gluten Before Kissing?
mommida replied to penguin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I bet he would brush his teeth and use mouthwash if the kissing led to an Altoid. L. -
Where has Steph the kick boxer been? Does anyone remember the site she went to and the information on EE? Tracey and Emma, My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am also trying to find some information about a similar sounding situation. It was about a year ago, and involved a different web site. L.

ARCHIVED Question About School
mommida replied to JacobsMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son was getting way to much cross contamination from the table. I suggest you send a very large napkin to lay out on the table before he eats, and a normal napkin too. In the end we ended up taking him out of the public school and are very happy we put him in a private school. Even though there are less children the janitor wipes down the tables before... -
ARCHIVED Why Celiac's Are Special, Heavenly Creatures
mommida replied to fairydust's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome Fairy dust! I do like your way of thinking. I would like to bury wheat in a hole and forget about it. I like sparkley things too, like jewelry and cars. L. -
ARCHIVED Food Fair In Michigan

ARCHIVED Doc Called Enterolab "quackery"
mommida replied to Jocelyn357's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think you may have been gluten free too long for a two week gluten challenge to show any accurate test results. I'm so sorry that a doctor isn't knowledgeable enough on Celiac or gluten intolerance to help you. I wouldn't waste any more time or money in this office when the doctor seems to be convinced what it is before he even looked at test results... -
ARCHIVED General Mills Neopets Cereal
mommida replied to gabrielle's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had a problem with them. Nothing really serious, stomach pains and the rash came back. That tells me it was just CC, and I did check with the company that said they will not hide gluten on the label. L.
