  1. Give me more information on.... the eosinophil count any other notations on the condition of esophagus, small intestine, and top of stomach Lab notations on # of biopsies, with results the time of year symptoms become worse time of year the indoscopies were preformed (did symptoms increase late summer early fall, when was the endoscopy preformed ~before...
  2. My daughter has her gall bladder, I don't. Keep a food journal. Keep a safe snack (s) on hand at ALL times. It is possible you aren't a Celiac, but gluten is (YOUR) trigger for EE. That still means a gluten free diet is the only way to stay healthy, (in your case). Every case for EE can have different individual triggers. (but it is logical to start...
  3. Kinky is my new favorite mixer. Flavored vodka, just mix it with soda like Sprite. Or any fruit flavored soda. Captain Morgan's spiced rum. Watch out ordering any named drinks that could be made differently by bartenders.
  4. Yes. Schatzki ring is damage associated with Eosinophilic Esophagitus. My daughter has both Celiac and EE. There is now a known connetionc between Celiac and EE. Do you have any of the scope pictures? Very tell tale sign of eosinophils are creamy colored speckles. I thought it looked like (what I imagined) a yeast infection. There must be a biopsy...
  5. In addition to gluten, it is fish, shellfish, eggs, and peas. The abdominal pain and severe daily headache is also from the EE. Younger patients don't even really complain about the throat or chest. If an allergist can help you avoid anything that isn't helping, it will be worth it. Don't be surprised if nothing comes up though. It is going to...
  6. The amino acid drink boxes for kids were called Splash. I'm not going to lie to you, they taste like crap! If you can figure out non reactive foods for you to make a smoothie or plug your nose and drink it as fast as possible. They put artificial sweetners in it, and we can't stand those. Maybe that's why we thought they were so horrid. I found them...
  7. Another important thing. Most of these reactions are from proteins (protein chains). If getting enough calories and nutrition becomes an issue, there are amino acid formulas available. The strangest thing is how many (pediatric) cases PEAS are a trigger. So watch out for some of the gluten free products that use pea starch for thickener/binder. ...
  8. Ok forgot to add. There is too strong of a connection to parasites and eosinphils. You should definately be tested for parasites when there are high levels of eosinophils. (You could find the cause and cure very easy. This would be best case scenario.) The symptoms are identical for a Celiac being gluttened and EE. (I'm not 100% positive about your...
  9. Get a different doctor to do the endoscopy with biopsy. You need to know what the scope is being done to "rule out or rule in/diagnose. If this can't be discussed with you before and your concerns addressed ~This is NOT the doctor for you! Maybe it is just your "gut" feeling this is the wrong doctor. I would bet money on your being right in this case...
  10. OK EE is a lot more confusing than Celiac. (This is the opinion of a mom of a Celiac who also has EE) The medical standard for an Eosinophilic Esophagitus diagnoses. Is a referal to an allergist. Modified Flovent inhaler (so the patient swallows steroids) and some Previcid. If you are lucky enough to have something show up in your allergy tests...
  11. Diary of a wimpy kid. Gets most reluctant readers going, they seem to like the "comic book" look and feel to the books. I couldn't stand Captain Underpants but that is popular too.
  12. What medications are you taking? There wasn't any current research (first diagnosed 4 years ago) to justify any long term medication. At first diagnoses it is pretty standard to go on Flovent (modifed steroid inhaler for medication to be swallowed not inhaled) and Prevacid (at least something to reduce acid and let the esophagus heal) There were...
  13. What Cara said! I will add the warning that gluten challenges can be dangerous too. My daughter was about 15 months old and the wait time for seeing the ped. gastro. was over 3 months. I took her off gluten. The doc said put her back on gluten. So after 2 weeks on gluten the blood draw was done and she had to go in the hospital on an IV for 4 days for...
  14. If the extremities turn cold and white at first. It could be Reynould's.
  15. Doctors are acting like this is a made up issue. I tried a new doctor, because of a gallbladder problem. (I had it removed.) The visit after having it removed he asked if I was going to try and eat gluten again. "Because it was probably your gallbladder causing the symptoms." Needless to say I am looking for a new doctor. Thank God you were diligent...
  16. I think it is reasonable to assume you are strictly gluten free. You probably have missed the window for a Celiac diagnoses, unless you have a rare case of Celiac which does not completely heal on a gluten free diet. Gene testing could be used to determine if you have some of the known Celiac genes. Remember not all Celiac genes are identified and genetic...
  17. Well trying to pin point the actual cause of "D" when it can even be a combination of both gluten and antibiotic isn't really going to help. I just want you to know it is very common for a gluten reaction to become severe after starting a gluten free diet.
  18. I would put a rush through for the blood test and endoscopy. Is there any definitive proof that there is a such thing as a "super Celiac" (2 positive genes)? There does seem to be some forum member accounts that the symptoms seem to be excerbated by these persons, but I can not find actual JAMA reports of such. My daughter is DQ2 and DQ8 positive had...
  19. OK Lingerie is not really meant to stay on. I love that Roomba (robot vacuum)! I can sit back drink some wine while that noisy critter works. More wine start singing to the tune of "Friends in Low Places" I'll drink my wine cause your doing just fine My roomba's cleaning Low places (feel free to ad more verses)
  20. What type of damage was found? Damage from eosinophils can be severe enough to put some patients with Eosinophilic Esophagitus on a feeding tube. Share your actual results and maybe we can help you.
  21. Is it food getting stuck in your throat? Is it difficult to swallow? Get an appointment with a gastroenterologist. Unfortunately Celiac Disease and Eosinophilic Esophagitus present with a lot of the same tummy troubles. There is also a connection for an individual to have both disorders. Both would require an endoscopy with biopsy for diagnoses. ...
  22. I agree with Gemini. If you use the shock collar, you can convince the dog the cat has Jedi Ninja powers!
  23. I wonder if you can get the Bisquick in Windsor? Perhaps some one should build another bridge!!? LOL Shroom ~ The only thing that I know of that has a food reaction and fluid on the lungs is, Lysinuric Protein Intolerance (LPI).
  24. Glad to hear you are feeling better. :) I have heard HORROR stories about yeast overgrowth and terrible symotoms it can cause.
