ARCHIVED Frequent Regurgitation, gluten-free For 2 Years
mommida replied to megansmommy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There are a few usual suspects for this... H. Ployri parasites hernia Eosinophilic Esophagitus (I can't remember the full list) Get back into the Pediatric Gastro ASAP! You want to diagnose and fix what is going on. This is exactly how my daughter who was diagnosed Celiac at 17 months old, gluten free diet for a little over 4 years, symptoms started... -

ARCHIVED I've Been Thinking....
mommida replied to shadowicewolf's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Are you talking about something that looks like a "hard cream colored" for better term acne? If so, that is a symptom of circulatory issue ~ mainly a heart issue. Or that was the doctor's advice when my friend went into the doctor's office to have them removed. He is now on medication for his heart, and I haven't noticed them since. That does seem to... -

ARCHIVED Well The Dr Called...
mommida replied to Quincypp's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes. You need to call back and get more tests done. It is possible you have Celiac disease. (You may not have consumed enough gluten before testing.) You could opt for genetic testing (not a perfect test either, you can have the 2% known miss rate, human error rate for blood test is 30%, so don't fully believe the 99% accurate statistic) It is possible... -
ARCHIVED How To Self-Diagnose If Doc Will Not Run Tests
mommida replied to june27's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I really hope the sibling would find a different doctor. Get the testing done, and then try a gluten free diet. If she needs medical later from this doctor, the doctor will not respect a "medical need" for a gluten free diet. There may be an excerbation of symptoms after ingesting gluten after a gluten free diet. This makes it virtually impossible for... -

ARCHIVED 16 Month Old Just Got Diagnosed With Celiac. Now What?!
mommida replied to Mizyellow's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
As a nursing mother to a Celiac you need to check your health care items too. (skin lotions, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner) My son loved to grab my hair and my daughter would pet my face when they were nursing. You need to be as careful as you can be. There just is no way to tell you how much exposure is safe. It is the amount your son's immune... -
ARCHIVED Help! Cant Eat Anything!
mommida replied to Bubble's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There are many illnesses that can have the same symptoms. (parasites, H. Ployri, infection) You really need to get tested, and that would be a full work up. Celiac can be triggered by stressfull situations (getting married suddenly away from home) A protein shake is not the way to go in this situation because most of these intolerance/reactions are from... -

It is probably too late but that dye going in the IV has a hot sensation. It felt like I peed my pants. I didn't, it just really felt like I did cause everything in the groin area just got hot. Hope the procedure went well. -
ARCHIVED An Interesting Story And Introduction
mommida replied to foam's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
There is now a proven link between Celiac and Eosinophilic Esophagitus. To the point any pediatric diagnoses of EE, should mean immediate testing for Celiac. -
ARCHIVED An Interesting Story And Introduction
mommida replied to foam's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
We have had to deal with Celiac and Eosinophilic Esophagitus diagnoses for a few years. Never count the eosinphil reaction to last under those 12 days (you also have to give the gut time to heal) EGID, Eosinophil gastro intestinal disease, they try and lump it into one disease term. The specific diagnoses is where the highest concentration of eosinophils... -
If you really aren't keeping anything down, they can give you a shot of it. It has really helped my daughter a few times. (kept her from needing an IV)

ARCHIVED Seeking Advice - Doctor Wants To Do Endoscopy
mommida replied to kbh75's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Vommiting tends to be more for Celiac children. All Celiacs are individuals with specific symptoms. Your symptoms are highly suspect of Celiac.Ihaveread reprts that at least 30% of Celiacs are overweight, but that was back in the day when the statistic for Celiacs was changing from one in 40,000 to 1 in 300 and I think now they say 1 in 100 (American population... -
My daughter had symptoms that caused her to vomit up to 5 times a day. It seemed like she was having a gluten reaction. (She was diagnosed with Celiac when she was 17 months old and did vommit a lot as well as "D". She was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophaitus when she was 6. There is a knwon connection between EE and Celiac. I also had gall bladder...

ARCHIVED Dr. Drew Treats Jennifer Esposito Horribly
mommida replied to Looking for answers's topic in Publications & Publicity
You better believe I signed that petition. Jennifer Esposito is really going to battle for all Celiacs here. There have been numerous posts about people losing their jobs and personal relationships from Celiac symptoms. Dr. Drew was a jacka$$ for asking such personal questions of her about medical tests and symptoms. He said he is a doctor, but he... -
ARCHIVED Post Birthing Tear
mommida replied to Celiac Ninja's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
sunny side up is when the baby comes out with the face toward you, they should come out with the face pointing toward your bum. it is easier for the baby to pass through the birth canal with the natural movement of arching the neck back. Looking back I would have had surgery to remove scar tissue as soon a possible.- 8 replies

ARCHIVED Update & Bone Age Testing
mommida replied to GlutenFreex4's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The poor kid has Eosinophilic Esophagitus too. She usually is hospitalized once a year for dehydration. She goes into a cycle of vomitting and she just has to get an I.V. I can't say that I would opt for any further medical tests at this point over height. I will mention it for her next yearly physical. (fingers crossed that will be the next time at... -

ARCHIVED 9 Month Old ? Sensitive To Gluten
mommida replied to beckyboo40's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Testing is your best option here, and as quickly as you can. Keep in mind testing is less accurate in patients under 24 months. There may be more food sensitivities than just gluten. Several disorders/ diseases present with similar symptoms. Keep a food journal. Monitor food amounts, ingredients, symptoms, and BMs and if possible airborn allergy... -

ARCHIVED Frustrated With Conflicting Msg Reports And Link To Celiac
mommida replied to TDL363's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
In the U.S. it should be labeled if the MSG was derived from wheat. So the PC way to say this is read the label and know the label laws the country of origin for the product. That being said some people are sensitive/intolerant to MSG. If it makes you sick, don't eat it. -
ARCHIVED Just Found Out.
mommida replied to Tadpoles mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Because of the serious onset make sure you get a copy of all the initial tests and reports. Make sure Eosinophilic Esophagitus has been ruled out. Everyone has given great advice. I just want to add, keep gluten free things on hand with you all the time. Kids are offered treats all the time. The rule of thumb if you are not sure, don't eat it. So...
