  1. My daughter was diagnosed Celiac at 17 months old. She has had all IC symptoms and numerous UTIs. The doctors are just stumped and they have tried different tests. They now say it is caused by her constant constipation. (The back up in the colon causes sensation of pressure, and the bladder is not fully emptied. The symptoms present when there is not...
  2. If you are still going through testing, you need to continue eating gluten. The testing is to find damage caused from eating gluten. It is not worth going through testing procedures when you are on a gluten free diet. IMO Some patients with Celiac do continue having endoscopes to monitor damage. (there is a condition, "Celiac sprue" where damage has never...
  3. I am so sorry, I couldn't resist. My daughter broke her wrist and she was covered in cast from fingers to below the arm pit. She has more issues than Celiac. She also has Eosinophilic Esophagitus and avoids eggs, fish, shellfish, peas, and seasonal airborne triggers. She did fine. keep up with household handwashing and cleaning. (She was too young...
  4. I would not lick the cast. (I heard they taste awful!)
  5. I prefer Kraft over some other brands because they are honest in labeling. Even though the statement is not comforting, it is the truth. To the best of the companies knowledge, all gluten will be listed in the ingredients.
  6. I always suggest Biotin. High doses can not cause a "toxic" level. It would naturally be in food, in animal LIVER. I don't know about you, but I don't like liver and won't eat it. Vitamin B12 does not have a known toxic level. Most Americans are assumend to have B defiencies. You can start with a daily multivitamin and probiotics. Always do some...
  7. I think you are actually having symptoms of anemia (low iron). Please see your doctor. You should start with tests to see what your iron level is and where it needs to be. There is a serious problem of taking too much iron called toxicity. Symptoms of iron defiency... paleness (can be noticed first in areas known to be pink, like gums of the mouth...
  8. I went symptomatic after I had my daughter. My daughter was having odd symptoms too, and then she started on solid food and it really hit the fan. When she was diagnosed we set up an appointment with the hospital's dietician. The dietician called and cancelled the appointment. She said to buy a book by Danna Korn and come here, she really couldn't help...
  9. I would opt for the endoscopy from my daughter's experience and diagnoses. Not only was probable Celiac diagnosed but also Eosinophilic Esophagitus. Previcid does help a little in EoE treatment. EoE also has a seasonal "flare" in patients. There is also a known connection between Celiac and EoE. A full proper diagnoses now can spare your child so much...
  10. Nearly spit coffee on the laptop! Ellie Mae and I love taking care of little critters. (just wish I had a big daddy bank roll)
  11. My husband and I went to a custome party as Ellie May Clampett and Larry the Cable Guy. blonde wig braided with bows, jean capris with rope belt. plaid shirt with sleeves taken off, jeans, and fake rolex watch, and baseball hat. Trouble is my Ellie may impression was so good people said my husband was Jethro. So when we had a little kiss, it was really...
  12. I had meningitus, so I suffered with the recurring headaches for 3 years after. I also have a history of migraines. I live in the mid west, so seasonal allergies are a constant battle. My all natural approach to headaches... drink smart water (added calcium, potassium, & ) take a substantial amount of vitamin B12 (liquid form or sublingual) breathe...
  13. Get the Celiac testing done. She will most like have to have an endoscopy with biopsy to get closer to a diagnoses. The illness may have "triggered" Celiac. (or triggered symptamatic celaic) untreated Celiacs do have some issues with liver tests. (it seems most common to have raised liver enzyme count) Yes. some Celiacs have nearly died before getting...
  14. It could be Celiac Disease. keep eating a 'normal' diet and get to a gatroenterologist for testing. you may be able to get the initial Celiac panel at your regular doctor's office. make sure you get a hard copy yourself. Then you will know if the full panel was done and where your results are on the 'range'.
  15. I didn't know there is a gluten-free bisquick cake mix either! I want to compare the ingredients side by side too.
  16. dairy free also CF is casein free (casein is the protein chain of dairy) I like to use chewy candy like probiotics. I can't say I have a favorite brand to suggest though.
  17. When you are going through testing make sure the doctors are aware of Eosinophilic esophagitus (it appears Norwegian spelling is Eosinophilic Oesophagitis). There is now a known connection between Celiac and EoE. Gluten can be a trigger for EoE, and could explain why previous Celiac tests were negative. The symptoms for Celiac and EoE are surprising similar...
  18. Remember from what we know digestion has a 6-12 hour window. The rates for digestion variables also include the amount of liquid ingested and the amount of physical activity. If you want to be a bit more proactive start journaling food, activity, and symptoms. Some Reactions to "triggers" can take up to 12 days for reaction time. (i.e. eosinophils) ...
  19. ok gluten free bisquick has more baking powder to make it rise more. did you use a whole box of gluten-free bisquick?
  20. You are showing healing! You might consider taking a multivitamin. Stay on track will your dietary needs so you can really start feeling better.
  21. We had to do a gluten challenge after a month and a half of gluten free. (there was a three month wait for the appointment with a ped. gastro) my daughter was about 15 months old. She started reacting immediately and ended up in the hospital with dehydration after the blood test. She was deemed too ill to have the endoscopy with biopsy. i wasn't willing...
  22. If you are still having problems, try making a food journal. The 'usual suspects" are the top 8 food allergens. We do know that the protein chain for oats is very similar to the protein chain of wheat. most "allergic" reactions are to the protein(s). Even if the oats are certified gluten free they can still be a problem for some Celiacs. Figuring...
  23. My heart goes out to you. ((HUGS)) We will be here for all stages of grief. Something so life changing happens, it leaves one feeling numb. Sometimes it's easier to break it down. One breath at a time. one hour at a time. One day at a time. Then when you least expect it, you survived.
  24. Nope, an archeaologists will not find any of those loaves around. They have the tendencies to grow mold from the inside when they have not been properly sealed. YUCK!
  25. Since he was so young when he was diagnosed with reflux there are further concerns for a diagnoses. you have to add a possible congenital defect to the list of "usual suspects" for these symptoms hernia Celiac Eosinophilic Esophagitus H. Ploryi. parasitic infection the list is quite long discuss it with your doctor. These are all reasons to...
