  1. Let's just refer back to the pet peeves topics. People need to chill with the negative button. Seriously?
  2. Ditto!
  3. Every now and then some weirdness happens and everyone is just crabby. It is hard to communicate without facial expressions, tone of voice, and hand gestures. Sorry I grew up in an Italian neighborhood, something you just have to use your hands.
  4. How old did you say your son is? Celiac is an auto-immune disease, you have a compromised immune system. I think it would be difficult to move to the children's hospital if you were admitted to the quaritine area.
  5. Hello mommida, Ive been reading an old post about the abdominal pain you were experiencing at night time.

My daughter has recently been diagnosed as Celiac and is suffering with the same pain at night. Did you ever find out how to control this? She is already on the diet and was ok for a few months but recently had a stomach bug and is up every night again.

Any advice you can give pl...

  6. I haven't found your other posts as the background for this post. "Possibly some nerve damage"? I think this doctor needs to explain that statment. You sound like that doesn't make sense to you either. Does this mean that there is evidence your little ones system isn't working? Falling asleep at school? Was her iron level checked? Are there...
  7. It may be time to look into some supplementation of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 can be supplemented without evidence of reaching a toxic level. For the rest of the vitamins it would be best to start with testing to see what levels you are lacking. Vitamin D defiency can cause fatigue and some of the symptoms you describe. When was the last time you had your...
  8. Healing times vary. As for the UTI symptoms, but not really a UTI, that is something we (my 9 year old daughter) battle. The doctor has diagnosed her as constipated. (For the last 2 years) Every time she has an exam her colon has been solid. Indicated she is constipated. The "fullness" has too much pressure for the bladder to be fully emptied. It...
  9. Ok The reason I really didn't kill him and get hauled off to jail.. My daughter was sitting right there. I think she needs to e tested for some kind of metabolic disorder or blood disease. It is just another step to the proper diagnoses. Maybe I needed someone to take Celiac and Eosinophilic Esophagitus off the table to start looking for something else...
  10. This was supposed to be the "best" doctor in the area. He also "undiagnosed" her Eosinophilic Esophagitus at the same scope. (She wasn't eating gluten, gluten free oats, fish, shellfish, soy, casein, peanuts, peas, (beans in general), tree nuts, food dyes, and eggs. It was supposed to be a re-check to etermine if food "trigger" could be identified and...
  11. If the endoscopy involved a gluten challenge, I would not do it. Gluten challenges can lead to dehydration and hospitalization for some. Like you said, I would not make it out of the house during a gluten challenge.
  12. Apparently my daughter's GI is such a f-ing idiot he....get ready for this one.... declared my daughter not Celiac anymore. Seriously!!!? Follow this, he scoped her after she has been on a gluten free diet since she was 17 months old (for EE) when she was about 7 years old and didn;t see any villi damage. So even though he is the one who diagnosed "probable...
  13. Did anyone try the cinnamon chex as a crust? (sans sugar)
  14. Yup. People are idiots. There is probably going to be worse behaviour for you to endure. The "just a little bit" pushing gluten in your face. The devious ones that try and "test" your reaction to gluten by putting crumbs intentionally in your food. People who think it's a fad diet.
  15. That makes sense to me too. We have Celiacs here that also have Barrett's esophagus, Nutcracker syndrome, and other things to contend with. You are also establishing a baseline to determine if the gluten free diet is healing the damage.
  16. Can't sea salt have a higher concentration of iodine? That would seem like Celiac and the "sister" disease D.H. There are also adrenal issues that salt consumption affects. (The ones that I can think of are the ones when people are craving and eating way too much because of the problem.)
  17. my daughter was diagnosed "probable" celiac at 17 months old. (she was too ill to get the scope done.) She was on the gluten free diet and everything was great until she turned 6. Then the symptoms got worse than a usual glutening and she started vommitting up to 5 times a day. Not a lot vomit, small amounts after meals mostly. She was scoped and diagnosed...
  18. I'm really bitter right now. So today I do wish that every doubting doctor (you know the ones, their quotes "you're too young to have celiac. what? did you read something on the internet? You want me to test you for that "fad" disease. Maybe gluten isn't your problem. It's all in your head. Are you anorexic? Maybe you should go eat a Twinkie. It's IBS...
  19. I think your old GI is an idiot too! I've got a building up rant in my system about my daughter's ped gi from today's events. I'm on the verge of ripping a new orafice for the guy. I am scared that he has LOST his f-ing mind. Now I am totally freaked out that I have been trusting this Bozo for the care of my daughter since 2003.
  20. Not everything is Celiac. There is a list of other disorders that a scope can be done to rule out, or diagnose. Some of the symptoms are very close to Celiac. At the point my daughter was having "glutening" symptoms after having diagnosed with "probable" Celiac, she was diagnosed by scope with Eosinophilic Esophagitus. I searched the house for hidden...
  21. Do you have any vommitting? I am currently looking up more information on Lysinuric protein intolerance. But those don't seem like high protein foods. I am looking at more charts of "allergic" reactions. Some reactions to food can be so varied and affect the body on such different levels. Trying to solve an issue with Eosinophilic Esophagitus. ...
  22. My 9 year-old daughter got a full sized Kit Kat bar. So she waited on the porch for the next "little kid" to come beg and gave it to a little 4 year old boy. I told the mom she had an "allergy" thing and couldn't eat it. The little boy has a nut allergy and could eat the kit kat so it worked out well that she could pass it on to someone else who misses...
  23. You should always get examined by a doctor if there is any chance you could be getting a Urinary Track Infection (UTI). Men usually wait too long and it turns into a kidney infection. Symptoms which will be a high fever, back pain (kidneys), frequent and burning urination. There is where just starting a gluten free diet can cause a person to get constipated...
  24. I've heard the gluten-free Synder's pretzels are out there, but I haven't found them yet. What state did you find them?
  25. That is very interesting, as we are also of Finnish descent. Daughter tested positive for DQ2 and DQ8 genes associated with Celiac. Diagnosed probable celiac when she was 17 months old. Diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitus when she was 6. She is 9. She just had another EGD last Wed. We are calling for the results of EoE count tomorrow. There was...
