  1. When I compare that to the last 2 family weddings (my husband's side of the family) there was some effort made. A place for an "allergen diet" and kid friendly and how many other people are they trying to please? One niece was having children in the wedding party, part the invitation said adults only. The cousins standing up ranged in age from 16 to 3...
  2. Can you get allergy testing? I don't want to suggest foods or recipes that might make you sick. One of the things that comes to mind is avacados. High in hopefully good fat and calories and on the list of most non reactive foods. That might be the best thing to search.
  3. I try not to buy JUNK made in China. but... a deck of playing cards ( if you have time print out rules for different games like crazy 8's, spoons, speed, or just some variations of solitare~ you really can play it without a computer!!?) check out the clearance section of craft stores. (found ceramic painting kit on clearance for .97 cents included 3 pieces...
  4. There should be a list of foods to avoid on the Celiac.com original site that got you here. I suggest you add some Biotin to your vitamin supplements. Lets see if that will help with hair growth. (It is safe with no none toxicity level for your body, so is B12)
  5. Some reports say undiagnosed Celiacs' glabladders function at about 10%. I was gluten free for about 6 years and still had my gallbladder taken out when I turned 40.
  6. Here are a few of my jumbled thoughts... Go back to the doctor and keep a food journal. Some reactions can last 12 days (eosinophils,so if your don't have a journal you will never be able to back track nearly 2 weeks to find the trigger food. There are many vitamin and nutrient defiencies for a Celiac to recover from. From the articles and life experience...
  7. You can always stay here, we don't kick anyone out of the tribe. Is that your Holland Lop in the pic?
  8. I had to track down a cross-contaminated bottle of vanilla in my kitchen when I first went gluten free. Like your situation, a little bit was fine a second helping of the same dish and I was sick. I was suspecting the colander rinsing the gluten free pasta. A non-Celiac friend of mine was getting sick after trying some gluten free stuff, best I can...
  9. I suspect it is one of the lesser ingredients in the "new" gluten free food ingredients. You might try keeping a food journal. Before starting a gluten free diet you probably didn't eat a lot of xanthan gum, guar gum, tapioca, millet, teff, sorghum, quinoa, or any of the other flour types for substituing. You may also be intolerant of other ingredients...
  10. I hope you find a doctor who knows how to diagnose you. Celiac testing starts with the blood panel, then an endoscopy with biopsy. Gluten free diet is started and the patient should start to feel better and this is the confirmation stage of diagnoses. Dh diagnoses can start at the dermatologist with a skin biopsy in the correct place for the outbreak....
  11. My daughter has Celiac and Eosinophilic Esophagitus. Is her voice hoarse? Swollen tonsils? Back of throat covered with cream speckles? Bad breath? Dark cricles under the eyes? GERD symptoms? Constant headache? Along with a stomach ache with "D" and or vomitting? You should have been to a pediatric gastroenterologist for for Celiac testing. Have you...
  12. I just bought Dash O'Flax. Gluten free, non GMO, packaged in a Gluten, Nut & Lactose free facility. True cold milled. Product of USA. PAREVE means it is not meat or dairy). It does not say anything about organic.(
  13. Try the Allergen Free baker's Handbook (How to Bake without Gluten, Wheat,Dairy, Eggs Soy, Peanuts, Tree nuts, and Sesame by Cybele Pascal. I love this cookbook! The cupcakes rock! Gluten eaters love the baked goods too. (I was having a hard time finding some of the ingredients for the flour mix and substitued a pre-made gluten-free mix instead. It...
  14. I really can't think of much to tell you right now, because I'm crying for your loss. Cyber ((HUGS)) to you! Just know I care and I have lost furry friends too. You have been here in our "tribe" a long time and I have seen your heart reach out to so many that need help. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family now for healing. Can you volunteer...
  15. We went down a path like this before. My daughter went gluten free when see was 17 months old. Life was good then when she was 6 she had a very bad virus. (high fever and a lot of vomitting, she even vomitted blood and had a nice 4 days in the hospital) Every day she was complaining her stomach hurt, had gluten like symptoms ("D", headache, tired all...
  16. Achatz Pies in Michigan has started making gluten free pies. Michigan four berry pie is da bomb (as in awesome)!
  17. I really didn't explain myself well. Having your gluten free safe food gives you CONTROL. That is what makes me feel "normal". Looking around (people eating everywhere) and having your stomach growl when you don't have anything to eat is miserable.
  18. You just plan ahead and send your child prepared with his own food. Call ahead for parties and see what the menu is so you can match it as close as possible. Pack a favorite candy bar or snack, eating utensils, explain about washing hands frequently and avoiding cross-contamination. Gluten fre doesn't mean bland or tastless food. Kids are kids, and...
  19. It is true that premature greying can be caused by vitamin defiency. B12 is usually the first to come up when researching the connection, but I have heard of others associated too. The texture should not change at this point. The amount of curl in hair is determined by the shape of the A. the hole it is coming out of and the shape o the folicle. The...
  20. Perhaps you should just go out for a date. No serious talking about decisions, money, kids, or family. Then do a family outing with the kids. You do need to heal before you start making decisions. Your health and being able to care for the children you have are the first priority here. Husbands should never be so stupid as to compare the wife to the...
  21. The link isn't working. Aargh. Julie's ice cream sandwiches taste great but they have egg.
  22. If I eat rice from a restaurant I won't touch it unless it is sparkling white, so I know they didn't flavor it with gluten.
  23. It is hard with the expense of gluten free food for everyone but I switched because I couldn't risk the crumbs. Now everyone LOVES the gluten free birthday cakes! (People take a slice for their friends to see how good gluten free cake can be.) Live and learn. Feel better soon!
  24. Is she thinking the brown color is from adding soy sauce?
