  1. A strict allergen free diet can work wonders. You should have seen my daughter's scope pictures when she was diagnosed with EE compared to her follow up. The doctor was amazed and said if he didn't know she was on the restricted diet he would have had to "undiagnose" her. This is one of the BEST doctors in the area. He now has a great respect for parents...
  2. Here is a short list of some of the "Celiac" symptoms overlap to other disorders. H. Ployri hernia parasites congenital defect/ obstruction/ damage trough out GI track abdominal migraines Eosinophilic Gastro Disorder Celiac/ DH/gluten sensitivity It is possible to have Celiac and Eosinophilic Esophagitus, like my daughter. So please take your daughter...
  3. That's why I usually tell new people "You will find out who your friends are" or if some people just aren't friend worthy. Running into this kind of ignorance really had me concerned about my kids. I did keep my daughter out of 3 year-old pre-school because I knew she had to have enough confidence to tell adults NO. I made sure she could explain why she...
  4. I've been on this site for a while and Kawasaki comes up quite a bit. I believe there is a link. My daughter has Celiac and Eosinophilic Esophagitus.
  5. If you go to a Gi you have to keep eating gluten for the testing. If you start the gluten free diet and it helps you, it would diagnostic evidence of at least gluten sensitivity/intolerance.
  6. We just use potato chips. No recipe really. Add whatever you like i.e. parmesan cheese you don't need to add salt though. Make it stick to chicken pieces any way you can and bake in oven. Not healthy at all, but they sure taste good.
  7. I think I am noted in my children's records as B^!<h. Let the doc make stupid notations, it will be easier for the next patient to sue. Get this ped. refer you to a pediatric gastroenterologist. It can be very difficult to get an accurate Celiac diagnoses. Other problems present with these symptoms and prepare yourself for your child having an...
  8. I'm wishing you fast and steady healing! I'm glad you have your mind set on going gluten free after the test no matter what the doc may say. Gluten lite may have healed some of the damage that would have diagnosed you. The most hurtful comments were from doctors pre-diagnoses. Accusations of anorexia, you're too high strung, perfectionist syndrome,...
  9. Sara you can still have s'mores but make them with gluten free chocolate chip cookies! YUM, YUM, YUM, even better!
  10. There are a few things that doing an endoscopy with biopsy can rule out or in that have the same symptoms... parasites ( can take stool sampling) congenital defect hernia H. Ployri. Celiac Eosinophilic Gastro. (Eosinophils are white blood cells that damage host tissues and can be found anywhere in the G.I. track) The endoscope can also give a baseline...
  11. Chia seems to be very expensive, so I haven't tried for an egg replacer yet.
  12. I have also seen tiffs start on this forum. It is just harder to communicate without tone of voice and facial expressions. Double en tendres. It just seems like it can stir up a lot of trouble.
  13. Lucky for me the neighbors told me about this guy parking in front of their house to sit and watch me. I had no idea!!!? I knew the guy from school but had no clue he had been watching and following me everywhere. Two guys tried breaking in my house when I was home with my two sisters. We called the police and they never came. (Each police department...
  14. I take 5,000 MCG a day. (Spread out through the day.) From what I have read there seems to be no adverse affects from too much.
  15. I dodged a lunch outing I didn't want to go to.
  16. I can't do Facebook. I had a stalker back in highschool. It got pretty scary. Needless to say I don't want some people to find me.
  17. Small health food stores rarely have flowers. Sample some of the products and then check on-line for ordering by the case of your favorite shelf stable products. That is one of the best ways to save money on "specialty" products.
  18. Hummus. Using hummus on a sandwich to add protein and in place of mayo to hold the sandwich or roll together (egg free diet) Cranberry sauce on sandwiches too. Making a lot of lettuce wraps, the crisp crunch is nicer than bread any day. Oh yea, BACON. Really went through a bacon phase. Grilling vegetables. I have also bought a lot of the famous...
  19. Along with the excellent explanations and advice I can add Biotin supplements. Biotin is mainly found in liver. It also helps in metabolism and hair growth.
  20. When my daughter was in school, she did fine. She did not want a big deal made out of "gluten". She wanted to be known for who she is, not "the gluten allergic kid". The extra snacks were with the teacher, I helped at every party, and handwashing is ALWAYS important. Not just for cross contamination for germ fighting. My daughter did get Rotovirus when...
  21. It might actually be Pernicious Anemia, which is associated with Celiac. The damaged gut lining does not have the intrinsic factor to process B12. Find out your actual test results on your test and the ranges of "normal".
  22. Eggs flare up my daughter's Eosinophilic Esophagitus. I feel that baking without eggs + gluten free has been a huge challenge. I highly suggest Cybele Pascal's Allergen Free Baker's Handbook. Egg replacers chemical reaction vinegar and baking soda Ener-G egg replacer gelatin applesauce banana some baby food puree (some just don't do it for me, yuck...
  23. I would not go so far as to say No food celebrations. You just need to know when you need to supply a safe treat. (You supply, don't trust someone else to have a gluten free kitchen to prepare a safe treat.) Ask that treats be healthy fruit and vegetables. The other parents will thank you that the kids didn't get all sugared up on junk. The classroom...
  24. Celiac has damaged my gut to the point I can't eat spinach, too many cherries, or raisins. The higher the iron content the less chance I can't eat it. Multivitamins with iron? I can set a timer and 15 minutes after I have swallowed it comes right back up. I can't eat lobster anymore either. So keep a food journal. You may find there are more things...
  25. Keep her on the "NORMAL" diet and get the appointment moved up. She has way too many symptoms of Celiac and related vitamin defiencies. PICA, and B12 related nuero panic attacks at age 2. This one is probably going to have the gluten withdrawal symptoms too. Gluten can have an opiate like affect on some individuals. Get the testing done as soon as possible...
