  1. Lisa: what reason does insurance give you for not covering it? (I am asking only in event I can help you to get them to at least pay something towards it.) I do insurance as my job.
  2. I am the oldest of my four siblings and childless. My nephew was questionnning me when he was about 8 years old, keep in mind his mother (my sister in law) is younger than me, and he asks me "Aunt Deb why don't you have any kids?' "Well," I replied, "You have to be certain age to have children and I am not old enough yet." His mom overhead and yelled...
  3. The USA Smarties gives me the impression of what a "placebo" (fake medicine pill) would look like or those little pills you used to get in your childhood "nurse or doctor" kit toy.
  4. yes, sorry I mean Grey Goose. I went on their website and yes, they state wheat based. I always mix this up with Blue Goose which is particular to my work "The Honorable Order of the Blue Goose, International is a fraternal organization of men and women who work in the property and casualty insurance industry. As Ganders, we are members of Ponds...

    ARCHIVED Liver Biopsy

You have every right to be cranky....so it's ok by me.
  6. Quaker doesn't make gluten-free facility claim on their grits or corn meal, so yes they can be a problem. I buy corn meal and corn flour from Kinnickinnick ( I wish I could spell it) in Canada by mail order. Takes a 2 day turn around and is always fresh. I wish they sold grits.....
  7. The glutenfreedrugs site needs to be updated; I find it to be old information. Until it's updated I call the manufacturers. I go to store, look at product I intend to buy, take down the 1-800 number and sometimes call right from the store. If that doesn't work I also write down the UCP number and call from home or visit the manufacturers website.
  8. I don't know if a GI can do what a Proctologist does.....seems like the same territory but only your GI can tell you ...... You might need to go to separate doctors after all.... We are going for a second opinion next week...
  9. Lyza Your doctor sounds like he/she has a very good plan to diagnose you...perhaps his/her thinking is that yes, you have celiac, but let's make sure that there isn't something else lurking about. My husband went to a lot of doctors from the onset of his illness and none of them were aggressive like yours is and had they been he would have been diagnosed...
  10. Ditto on Kinnikinnick - very good breads & donuts
  11. Valerie One of the things we have found it that it's always best to make it yourself or use the products that are really recommended by those who have used them (see past few posts). You could make home made fudge if you have the time; that would satisfy the urge for sweet and not cause a "glutenization" of your system. Deb
  12. Order something gluten-free from the menu even if you aren't going to eat it. Have a talk with the manager during a slow period during the day - let him/her know that you are from the company which brings them a lot of business, etc. and that inasmuch as you'd like to order from menu when you go there for lunch/dinner but you are so sensitive and you must...
  13. We also were told by Crest over the phone that their Pro Rinse may not be gluten-free.
  14. Just a note, if you are using a fresh turkey (never frozen, from butcher or turkey farm) you don't cook it as long as a commercial turkey. I am sure some of our members who are reading this can provide instructions on this. I recall that you cook it -- I think -- 15 minutes per pound instead of the standard 20.
  15. As an aside, I sort of remember that they might have lactose in them...? check that out if you are lactose intolerant too.
  16. Well, employees with Kaiser, keep in mind that if you have a doctor who can substiantate a medical necessary need for one of the extra panels you can appeal Kaiser's decision - every state has that in insurance law. You may have to get the test with your own money and then look to Kaiser for reimbursement after the appeal and they will only pay the...
  17. Kimjoy: So are you saying that Kaiser's plan may not cover all the tests which Quest can run, even if Quest uses the correct code? Note to covered employees: If this is true, Kaiser members, you must lobby your employer to expand your insurance benefits with Kaiser to cover all Quest testing (and find out "what else" you might be missing) or change...
  18. Hope it all works out; biopsy or not. Whatever you decide, biopsy or not, as the child's parent, it's your decision. Grandparents can only cheer from sidelines and are obligated to go along with the program as long as the program is not harmful to child; for example parents who only feed their children ground nuts and nutritionless type vegetables...
  19. Vodka types: can someone advise what "Blue Goose" is from? and what brand is a sweet potato base? Why is it that the wheat and rye vodkas do not take on a golden hue like whiskey does?
  20. apologize for disagreeing but we did not like Gilllians at all. We coated chicken with it; baked that chicken; started eating it and then 'uuukkkk' - I had to take every piece and place them in a clean skillet with water and boil the breading off. We never tried EnerG; we tried some brand that was in a tall cardboard tube which looked like corn flakes...
  21. is Kaiser contracted with Quest Diagnostics? they are a lab for testing check out their site at questdiagnostics.com they do celiac panels (code 15980X) and other celiac related testing.....if Quest knows about it all health plans and doctors should know too.... refer Kaiser to this website for reference of what does on in the real world.
  22. Part of the problem with a job that you do, Pharm detailman/woman, there's no hope of transfer unless there's an opening in the other area. If they have a person already working that territory then even if you didn't have celiac nor was preg. you would be out of luck. Now you're not going to like this advice: Part of ADA is that they don't have...
  23. What indication did Kasier make that made you feel not to bother them? There is an appeal process....
  24. It's a great Idea; we've thought of doing that too, but I do get concerned about mixing gluten intolerance foods with individual intolerance foods; that might give the food service person the wrong idea about what is or is not gluten. Perhaps you should separate them out on the card; show the gluten ingreds first, then add a line about you have additional...
  25. YOu are one of the first persons who I agree with that says leasing autos was meant for corps. not individuals. That being said, I have to confess that I am going against my own advice but for sound reason. I only need a car for 8 mos or so; maybe as much as 15 mos but no more than that. I am willing to pay for the convenience. I know about GAP...
