  1. My loaves came out flat topped if I used too much water. Reduce liquid is my guess. I noticed that even an extra tablespoon or 2 of water made the bread flat.

    ARCHIVED Dr. In Tampa, Fl

If you know of a good GI or GP in Tampa, please respond to "Wow I'm in Trouble" in "Coping" section. Man in Tampa has need of one.
  3. We had a different experience than this. After tests I called for hubby's results (blood test) and "nurse" told us that the tests were negative but Dr. still wanted us to come in. At that point, thinking the test was neg for celiac disease, hubby ate wheat/oat/rye/barley as a non celiac would. Got to appointment about two weeks later only to be told...
  4. My husband has celiac disease and I believe his father had it (passed away from anemia at age 80 and coincidentially while in nursing home, wasn't diagnosed with celiac disease but one of the problems was that the feeding tube food was passing thru him undigested. hmmmm and this was 4 years before my husband knew he had celiac disease so we feel it ran...
  5. I usually buy a box and give them to my mother in law or donate them to my co workers. I did have the opportunity during the sale to explain celiac disease to the troop leader
  6. Stef, embarrassingly I've eaten frosting from one of those tubs - heck with the bread- it's good all alone! So, if it's gluten-free and what you like as a "treat" I wouldn't worry about it.
  7. Foods containing gluten is written about in their article. pages 27 and 33 quotes that there are 1 in 100 with celiac disease and how gluten is hidden in foods new labeling isn't the total answer as there's no mention of barley, rye or oat Quotes Dr. Green from Columbia and shows resources and internet sites to get more info Not bad for an opening...
  8. MSFL: Welcome to our Board - we DO encourage freedom of speech and expression and discourage acrid responses that certainly come from those who are choking on their bile due to other external issues. Ignore the bitter ones, they only look to stir up trouble it appears. If they don't agree or like what's being discussed, they should move onto another topic...
  9. While I do not have any input on remedies, I have to say my thanks to you for letting the other doctors take a look at the DH. On a positive spin, it gives at least those physicians the knowledge of what DH looks like and maybe in your way you'll be helping another celiac who sees these physicians get a proper diagnosis as now they know what they are looking...
  10. RE: Acme Good thinking, thanks a lot, I'll give it a try gluten-free Pantry returned my call today and said that they were having trouble getting supplies from supplier but everything should be back to normal in a couple of weeks.
  11. After drinking fresh carrot juice, husband's stool was partially the color of the carrot. We knew he wasn't absorbing right but the gastro he went to at the time thought he was nuts instead of sick.
  12. Yes I do have one next door to me, but it is very very small and I wouldn't expect them to carry gluten-free Pantry mix. I guess I could ask....
  13. we prefer Holgrain gluten-free bread coating. Be prepared, it doesn't have any flavorings in it like garlic or onion but can be "doctored" up. We feel it tastes better than Gilllians.
  14. Where is this Acme as I am in NJ too....? went to whole foods yesterday and they are still out of Fav brd mix
  15. for my husband soy intolerant can't tolerate fruits, veggies and spices like garlic, onion, black/white pepper, etc acidy foods like OJ, tomato eliminated cheese as it's constipating

  17. Brown Cow Maple yogurt Our WF in Millburn, NJ used to sell the Bakehouse stuff with other breads but obviously they didn't sell quickly enough. We bought a cornbread that by the next day had greenmold on it. Now they only sell these goods in freezer section. They don't sell the Kinnickinnk bread at all
  18. Glad you gained the weight. Let me see if I understand you...you found out that you do not have celiac disease?
  19. Yes, good sign then on site they show the 5LB bag of the Favorite Bread Mix. I am going to Whole Foods today to check their stock out too.
  20. Well, I heard back from them via email today and they told me to do my order next week. It was a short sentence basically just telling me that. so next week I'll go to site and see if what I want to order is there or not. but I will institute a Plan B.
  21. Caeli, We're not always this way! .... Ok.... yes we are when it comes to this topic. Don't hold it against us. This topic releases a lot of emotions and opinions. Whatever we're talking about, you're welcome to join us so don't let the progression of the topic keep you away. D.
  22. To original poster (post starter)- sounds like you need to be tested for celiac and get a good physical while you are at it. Other intestinal/internal health issues cause multiple or quick bowel movements and weight loss. Do you have celiac disease? Well we're now being told that from 1 to 100 people or 1 to 133 people (depending on who is doing the...
  23. My mother in law's comment: When making baked macaroni & cheese:, using gluten macaroni: I'll bake it at a high temperature and kill the gluten! Talk about the power of positive thinking!!
  24. It's funny that someone mentioned canabalism in prior post. One of the early church father councils, I don't recall which one (like Nicene) the men on the council split over the concept over transubstantiation. One group regarded it was canabalism and rejected it. But the group who promoted it obviously won. Culturally, in Jesus' time his companions...
  25. I don't know the answer & would like to know it too.. I knew you were really from Jersey when you stated: "Yo, any celiacs in the Ewing/Trenton NJ area?" The "Yo," gave you away
