  1. No casserole yet. I've been working too much for past month or so. Husband also is don't feeling well lately and he can't introduce new stuff while feeling sickish; so have to wait on this a little more.
  2. One of the issues my husband has with this diet/lifestyle is the amount of washing dishes cooking from scratch takes and the time it takes. We don't have a dishwasher and one of us is constantly having a sinkfull (usually my husband does them). The clean up takes longer than the cooking does. Cassidy: Agree with you. "I don't think anyone can...
  3. Lollie, I also have heard that in addition to hormone in foods, it's also use of plastics, esp. heating up foods , cooking foods in plastics that contributes to this lowering of the age of "blossoming."
  4. We always stick to either Hodgson's mill (spelling if off, i think) and Kinninick (spelling is off). Yes, quaker can't be trusted - what an ironic statement - who'd a thunk it that you can't trust a Quaker?
  5. My goodness!! There's still hope for the medical community!
  6. My reaction of mad, frustrated, annoyed depends on how desperately I need the item and if a gluten-free subsititute is available and if that sub item is of the same like and quality. When I was doing Atkins I noticed the amount of "filler" in products only because I was avoiding carbs. So when my husband had to go gluten-free I knew what to avoid basically...
  7. It's easier once you know the "ropes" but in the whole scope of things, it is harder in that you lose your flexibility somewhat. Prior poster said it right, situations out of your control like at work (lunch meetings) , homes of others, restaurants. But again, this impact doesn't happen to everyone; some have less restrictions (dairy, other flours...
  8. You might be able to find Cook's in a regular supermarket where they sell other Cook's products (Cook makes hams too, kind of ham you'd serve for Easter).
  9. au natural, you're right, the stuff's quite expensive when considering that some people cannot eat fruits and vegetables, soy, eggs, dairy and other foodstuffs. Then they are dependent on products from manufacturers that are gluten-free. Now throw in the possibility that equipment to grind your own is expensive and yes, ground flours do not store well...
  10. My husband will eat very overcooked carrots (from can) and they can be seen the next morning in the poop. This has also happened to him - drank carrot juice and next morn had orangey stool. Also happened to him when he ate very red colored frosting from cake and next morn had redden colored stool-more like a deep rosey pink. This could possibly happen...
  11. wow, that's exactly what I've been looking for.....didn't know they made it.
  12. That's OK. At least there's something on the horizon. I wonder if this new test will be ale to test a celiac who is gluten-free and tell the Dr. that yes, this person is Celiac? or would you have to eat gluten in order to get an accurate result?... I am wondering when they'll test some type of gene therapy to act against gluten reactions....
  13. Shirley: How does the Bounce sheets work against bees & wasps? What are the directions to use it? Thanks Debbie
  14. I have no info on gluten-free status, but be careful as it's very, very constipating. I had to stop taking it due to this.
  15. Nini, Nisla you are so right about avoiding shoulder surgery. My rotator cuff was worked on by the PT (despite the PT presciption being for "neck" only, PT and I knew it was shoulder so he worked on the shoulder "off the record.") I tore my should capsule too. The physical therapy after the surgery was very, very painful and for a time I thought I...

    ARCHIVED Constipation

Bananas: It's basic of BRAT diet, but in themselves, do they cause constipation if your bowel movements are normal?

    ARCHIVED Constipation

Jen, No, I had uterine fibroids. Had the fibroids removed and within a year more grew back. Finally had to have partial hysterectomy several years ago and well that ended that problem. Now I have the ovarian cysts due to my age (I'll be 50 this year). Dr. tells me that this is a common problem in my age group as still ovulating, but egg is not fully...

    ARCHIVED Constipation

I have had problems with C since I was 14 - always taking Milk of Magnesia as a teen and eating prunes. When I got older I had to go to Dr. for hemorrids and other heine problems and he told me that my spincter muscle was not large enough...so I had to have surgery to open it. He told me that I was probably born that way and that was why I could not...
  19. Is the Duchess of Kent also known as Sarah Ferguson?
  20. Also, I sort of remember that sometimes the "Alcohol Beverage Control" authority would deliberately send people into liquor stores as "tests" and maybe the clerk thought you were them....
  21. I have known people who would do that. When I was a teenager I remember adults who did that for some young guys I knew additionally my best friend's children go to school with kids whose mother buys booze for them; they have parties to which my best friend's childen used to go to (now my best friend forbids her kids to "hang out" with those other kids...
  22. I make this bread also, my husband slices it and then freezes them by slices: 2-3 slices per baggie. It freezes well.
  23. I realize the gluten contamination could be a 3 day wait, but as soon as you feel it coming on, you think about the most likely place it could happen: outside your home - either home of another person or restaurant. If you know you're home is "safe" then you can only assume that something from outside your home is the culprit. Since my husband...

    ARCHIVED Amazing

I always include this site when I speak to non celiacs or people who are interesting in knowing more. I tell them to visit Celiac.com and also to read the message board to see what those with Celiac are doing/thinking/living. Also, I noticed that very often there are annon. or Guests viewing the pages.
  25. well yes, the cysts stop when you stop ovulating in menopause. But during peri menopause Dr. told me is when body doesn't take care of the cysts on its own as it would do naturally.
