  1. I've been on & off of Ambien for a few years....Dr. tells me it's menopause years where I have insomnia. ...anyway I never really dream when I am taking it...don't know why...but I do have food cravings right before it "kicks' in. I find myself having snacks before bedtime; rooting around the kitchen drinking milk and looking for something to eat. Something...
  2. Everyone has their own tricks to either bring food or snacks. In my husband's case, he has other food intolerances so there's really nothing he can take along with him that doesn't need to be cooked or need to be toted in a cooler and he can't afford to skip a meal because he's about 25 lbs. underweight. It may sound cruel, but I am more interested...
  3. I hate situations like this..cause it forces you to feel like a pest (even though you're not). My husband and I only go to weddings, etc. of close friends and family for this reason. On one occasion I called the caterer directly & asked the manager a theoretical question: Can you accomodate a gluten-free meal at an affair? And they said "yes...
  4. Judy call your credit card company and see if a "hold" has been put on your account and the amount. Then you can ascertain if you did the wrong thing. If you did, then when charge is first on your account, again call daily to see when the "hold" is a firm "charge" quickly get in touch with Clan T. to work it out with them. Maybe this will work.

Oh boy, where have I heard this before? If gluten-free is doing well for you then don't return to old foods. My husband was misdiagnosed for 27 years with spastic colon, irritable bowel, IBS .... Good luck and question, question question the doctors if you need to.
  6. hmmmmm, I wonder what/which is so.....is Clan USA or Brit or Canadian based? I would sure hate to purchase the system/service and get little use out of it.....Anyone else weigh in on this?
  7. what exactly is the source of the grain in Bard's (rice)?
  8. The reason I am asking is because I am on the "fence" on this - which one to select....
  9. someone please correct me if I am wrong, but aren't a lot of products on Clan Thompson of British origin or Canadian and won't be of value to those in USA? I thought that was why Gluten Guard system was best for those in USA...
  10. Did the doctors qualify what they meant when they said the gluten-free is dangerous? In what way? I can't see how it can be dangerous? Are you sure that they are not confused and think what your Dad is eliminating is "carbs"? A low carb diet can be dangerous to kidney health.....maybe there's a bit of confusion somewhere and someone misheard someone...
  11. Betty, I really feel for you. My husband went gluten-free due to celiac in 03 and every now and then even something gluten-free bothers him -- he developed sensitivities to other foods and roughage. Are you still under doctor's care? I wish I knew some answers for you. We're still grappling with this disease too. Debbie
  12. according to CSA receipe Need: Long pan and parchment paper 1 cup gluten-free Pantry French Bread Mix 4 tablespoons water 1 egg Mix all ingredients in mixer on high until dough forms a balll. Makes two large sheets. Roll half of dough between two sheets of parchment paper dusted with more bread mix until thin. Repeat for second half...
  13. Dairy products have high amount of natural sugars (lactose and lactase) and that's where the carbs are coming from. Hard & cream cheeses are naturally lower in these sugars and that's why they are OK. Milk is one of the only "animal sourced products" that is high in carbs. All other animal products are pure protein and fat, no carbs.
  14. well, it was a thought.
  15. Yes, 20 per day; but if yogurt (regular & low fat, this doesn't include the low carb yogurts - how they do that I don't know) has 13 even unflavored you've used up half your carbs in one sitting.
  16. Berneses: Are you allergic to ragweed or other "growing" things? If so, you might be having an allergic reaction to the tea. Keep in mind I am not celiac, my husband is, but I can't drink any herb tea due to my allergies. I get an immediate tummy ache and sometimes D when I drink herb teas.
  17. Aauggghhhhhhh! I recognize that scream anywhere! It's the roar of the celiac when it's not been diagnosed correctly. At first scientists played down that connection and then conceded after they had to hear it too many times.
  18. Pardon my contradiction: As having done Atkins quite successfully losing 35 lbs. During the two week Induction stage Dr. Atkins does not recommend eating yogurt in any form as skim milk based yogurt has 13 gms of carbs in a 1 cup serving. In the Two Week induction the max carbs per day is 20. Eating the yogurt will take up a lot of carbs that could...
  19. anyone have reaction to this product?
  20. Yes, new toaster. We have a "his" and "hers" toaster set, haha! Since I use my gluteny toaster less, mine in in kitchen closet in a plastic bag. I take it out when I need to toast gluten breads. I think I use it once every 3-4 months. I sometimes eat gluten-free bread and toast that in celiac disease toaster and I like the gluten-free waffles in toaster...
  21. I felt sorry for the animals having intolerance to their favorite foods....but it did put the world gluten out there for people to read..and question and the only way a non celiac can get the joke is to find out what gluten intolerance is.....
  22. as per my husband: Intestinal pain (when no chance of being glutened happened) No energy Residual depression (has been gluten-free for only 2.5 years now but celiac for 27 years - has a lot of catching up to do)
