ARCHIVED "taylor Ham"
debmidge posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know if this is gluten-free? I wrote to them last April 05 and have not gotten a response, there's no phone number nor website on their product. I know they are very "close to the vest" about their secret ingredients, but they could have at least answered my question.... -
ARCHIVED Tuna And Syrup
debmidge replied to BamBam's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just a suggestion...when we use Log Cabin or any of the other lower priced syrups, we also have a small amount of real Maple Syrup on table too. We don't mix them half and half, but using mostly the Log Cabin and a teaspoon of the real syrup for the real maple flavor. It's cheaper than using 100% real maple syrup and you don't feel like you're eating corn... -
I've been told that I've had "resolved" cysts over the years; now that I am near menopause I am told that when I get cyst (which I had two giant ones last year that still plague me) that as we get older our bodies don't deal with them as efficiently as and as quickly as they used to. Thankfully, mine didn't burst, but the pain from just when they...

ARCHIVED Trix
debmidge replied to Mindy35's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Not to sound ungrateful, but we'd like to see a "grown up taste" cereal, low in sugar that's gluten-free and perhaps has corn or rice bran in it. Can't have nuts, and too much roughage, so those gorilla munches are out. Maybe like a Crispix (rice/corn cereal) type or a Kix type of cereal. -
ARCHIVED Marshmallow Peeps
debmidge replied to kevsmom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Peeps are made almost all year round. I've seen Pumpkins, stars, hearts, christmas trees, even 4th of July ones. They have a website & maybe they show them. I know that's were I saw the co. state that they are gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Familt Act Like Celiac Is No Big Deal?
debmidge replied to erin24's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
And your response is "Yes, you're right - it's no big deal because I know I'll have my family's full support and love. My foods will just not contain gluten and we may have to do things a little differently for me from time to time. But with everyone's love behind me I know it'll work out." "My friend said the other day that there is no way just touching... -
Bullion cubes - just a minor inconvenience but really relied on them in cooking. Chicken and beef stock in cans (College Inn) - still haven't found a gluten-free brand yet of either of these things.

ARCHIVED Joe C And Celiac.. Confused
debmidge replied to someone's topic in Publications & Publicity
Perhaps he was one of the many unfortunate people who go many, many years without proper diagnosis or ignored his symptoms and he developed other health issues due to un-treated celiac. -
ARCHIVED Kinnikinnick Breads
debmidge replied to CMCM's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes on the Italian White Tapocia bread, it's my substitute bread for when my husband runs out of the gluten-free Pantry bread that I make for him. Kinni's hamburger buns are excellent. When we have hamburgers, once a week, we both have that as the bun. They freeze well and are shipped extrememely quickly. As a matter of fact, I am expecting my shipment... -

debmidge posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED Holy Day Of Obligation - Ash Wednesday
debmidge replied to penguin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think I also understood the fasting rules - that if you have a medical condition where fasting would interfere with your health, whether blood sugar or any other disease you are exempt. -

ARCHIVED Why Is There More"wind"?
debmidge replied to 4tomorrow's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The gas issue is that it can linger while you're healing. For many years while he was misdiagnosed (27 about) my husband had terrible gas with pain, lack of appetite due to gas issues. When he was finally diagnosed celiac disease & went 100% gluten-free his gas subsided over time. Now when he gets gas from gluten-free foods that bother him it passes... -

ARCHIVED No Wonder I'm Tired...
debmidge replied to penguin's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've had a lot of experience with Doctors as my husband visited a lot of drs in the past 27 years and was misdiagnosed for all of them; but when we get blood work or any test I always get a copy of the reports (even for my bloodwork and tests). I keep a file for each of us for each year, example Deb 2001, 2002, 203, 2004,, etc. And I make a Health Resume... -

so spinal stenosis and spina bifida could be related to celiac? Am I understanding this correctly? -
I did move to the stage of putting it on/over stove and put low heat oven on to help "kick" it in and it still is not rising quickly or enough. hmmm

ARCHIVED Frozen gluten-free Bread Dough
debmidge posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know if this exists? A gluten-free already made bread dough that is frozen and all you need to do is defrost it in refrigerator for a couple of days, then when pliable, take it out, shape it in bread baking pan, let rise and bake it. -
ARCHIVED Ulcerations In Small Intestine
debmidge replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My husband was found to have a duodunal ulcer due to misdignosed celiac for about 26 years. I don't know if the duodunum (forgive my spelling) is small intestine area-I think it is. Found during endoscopy after being gluten-free for 13 months. It was still hanging around, but Dr. said it was in final stages of healing. -
How do you know if your yeast is "dead"? For example, you use a pre-packaged mix and the bread doesn't rise; you know you didn't use water that was too hot or too cold for the yeast to do their job. Do most people NOT use the yeast in pre-packaged mixes due to this problem? What temperature is best for the water? I have used water temp as low as...

ARCHIVED Freeda Vitamins
debmidge replied to Claire's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Another good thing about Freeda is that you can order over internet and the order is delivered really quickly. Been using their products for a couple of years now. My husband has celiac I don't but I take these too. We use as much gluten-free products in our home in place of "regular brands" for several reasons. One of which is to help keep these... -
From my experience, I've noticed that some or most doctors get mad when you tell them what YOU think your condition might be; or they are embarrassed over their lack of knowledge and try to cover it up by saying "No, you don't have such and such." I'd like a doctor to at least say something like "Well, it's certainly worth testing for." or "That's an...

Lemonade: Sounds like neuropathy which is a condition due to celiac (as I understand it, it's due to undiagnosed celiac neurological damage or at least neurological interference).
