  2. Good idea to resurrect this topic! Summary of them all! You might be celiac if... 1. The centerpiece on your dining room table is a bread machine. 2. Your bread looks like a moon rock and tastes like dried out Play Doh. 3. Your bread weighs more than any moon rock could possibly weigh. 4. The only way you will eat your bread is toasted. 5. You...
  3. You mean ingredients to avoid? Look here: https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-09106100712.ea
  4. Sent Oh, to answer some other points raised: - Candy is not automatically out. In fact, I have a list from Halloween-about 5 pgs. long on gluten-free candy. If they coat the wrappers with wheat, it must also be listed in the ingredients. - Spices, too (no list, though ) - The list WAS typically updated every few months (like 3-4). ...
  5. Yup--Risotteria.
  6. PM or e-mail Scott (either PM "Admin" or e-mail info@celiac.com) professing your interest in volunteering to moderate. Oh, and welcome (in advance)... if you have any q's in the beginning, just e-mail me.
  7. You mean where it says "Advanced Community Member" you want to change it to say whatever you want? Go to my controls, then "Edit profile information" and then under "your personal profile, this section is optional" the first field should be custom member title. It should be blank right now--just add something there.
  8. Yes, but I never received that . I must be exempt... special.
  9. Menu is also on the web: Open Original Shared Link
  10. Yeah, I agree with Kayla/Rusla/broncobux... in a book about rudeness, I can't help but think that she thinks we have a choice and that we are making excuses to get special treatment.
  11. SCD = Specific Carbohydrate Diet
  12. People on the Listserv have been writing letters for days.
  13. Thank you for sharing! And sorry for such a delay; I am wading through 14 pages of new posts...haven't been on for a week since I've been studying for midterms.
  14. Yeah--I've been doing that for about 6 months now--it's very interesting.
  15. I've known about this one for awhile-- the epidemic doesn't mean you can catch it, but that it's very prevalent.
  16. Wheat-Free, Worry-Free is really good. I only skimmed Dangerous Grains (in the store), but it looked pretty good from what I saw. Just, naturally, not as celiac-oriented as the former.
  17. You don't have to agree--it's just some philosophical statement, about enduring hardships that don't kill you making you stronger. I think it's not the gluten that we're supposed to look at here, but the overall obstacle of celiac. If you conquer the obstacle and live a healthy gluten-free lifestyle, you're not only physically made stronger and better,...
  18. All that really matters with this is that natural flavors may contain gluten, so you need to verify with the company. I hate these generalizations, such as food starch, natural flavors, artificial flavors, or even just "flavors." We need to call for all of them.
  19. E-mail alerts for articles are available, but no RSS feeds for this site (to my knowledge).
  20. "Caeli" -- of course! I knew it was "the skies," but I neglected here to connect its alternative meaning (the heavens) with the idea of priesthood. In your predicament, it DOES seem that the only option is the low-gluten host. I can answer one half of this; to be perfectly technical, he could not have been ordained if he had celiac. Whether...
  21. Looking back at the first post, I thought I should add that Yoplait will clearly list all gluten on the label (i.e. will not hide under flavorings, modified food starch, etc.)
  22. Yes... just wanted to make sure you didn't have it. Maybe only regular/advanced members?
  23. I'm also Catholic. Actually, the wine IS communal. Though we in the west traditionally favor the bread over the wine, BOTH are actually equal and you can have just one as both the body and blood. Secondly, the Church does not recognize a gluten-free wafer. You may have read about the 8-year-old celiac girl whose "Communion" was not recognized because...
