    Because she fits the diagnostic criteria for Aspergers, not ADD. She was diagnosed after years of testing, observation and her pediatrician is one whom other pediatricians refer kids to. Kathryn does not have attention deficit, in fact she can focus and concentrate on a task so much that she has trouble going to the next class if her work is not complete...

    I can definitely say YES. My daughter was on a fairly high dose of synthroid for over a year, after fluctuating blood levels(she has been hypothyroid since age 4) then was diagnosed celiac (at age 11).... about 3 months later (after gluten free diet), she was acting hyperthyroid - and sure enough she needed her dose lowered.. the GI doc and the endocrinologist...

    Do you have lactose intolerance? Does this symptom occur with dairy?     Vaccine protocols and types of vaccine are different between US and Canada! Maybe its cause both my kids were born more than 10 yrs ago but they never even discussed a vaccine at birth...holy cow, we dont even do that to animals.     thank YOU Ursula! You are the first person with Aspergers to confirm my approach with Kathryn and that I was on the right track for bedtime. A number of people have suggested in the past that I somehow got her wired up or let her play too much video games ( I limit it to an hour and nothing after 5pm) ...or that I should try over the counter sleep aides...

    Aspergers and bedtime at our house... My daughter has trouble getting to sleep at night; the average time is 1 1/2 - 2 hours of transition. I used to try all sorts of things, music, talking, reading to her... but in our situation, I was prolonging sleep even further ... because she still needed the same amount of quiet time after I finished reading or...

    I wanted to start this thread after realizing how many of us either have Aspergers, shadow Aspergers or know someone with an autistic spectrum disorder. My hope is that we can come here to boost each other, share strategies, good days bad days...strategies that went wrong (kind of like oops I'll never try THAT again) .... to things that worked out wonderful...

    I'm in Canada - first vaccines arent until they are 2 mo(?)     I have read some studies and am no expert - all I know is that Kathryn showed signs before any vaccines were administered.
