  1. You are normal , normal , normal! The toughest time for both my kids was the first month and then occasional cravings and days where they wish they could eat a regular doughnut. My daughter snuck a sandwich at a church lunch and was sick for a couple of days - She cried when she told me what she had done, just hugged her and helped her through the...
  2. is there a chaplain on the base, or some one who could authorize you to take him elsewehere?? The fever not responding to tylenol or ibuprofren is screaming Kawasaki (oyu said it didnt bring it down but kept it form going higher). It is life threatening illness, Please get some help - other families on the base - esp ones married to "higher ups" , knock...
  3. I am sorry to hear your baby is so sick. Please ask your pediatrician to rule out Kawasaki disease. If the fever is not responsive to tyelnol or ibuprofen, it must be addressed now, Open Original Shared Link Print the article and bring it in with you To dismiss you as they have done is inexcusable! ** I had to return to the doctor 3 times...
  4. Info on vitiligo Open Original Shared Link
  5. Has anyone ever mentioned Ankylosing spondilitis to you? "Bone spurs" in a young person should set off a red flag. See: Open Original Shared Link ...they even talk about shoulder involvement. If you were in an accident and had this condition - even in its early stages, then it would cause more serious (pain) symptoms. from the site: ...
  6. None of those tests would be conclusive for celiac. This site has much info on testing ...one link is : https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-44106545513.45 Ask the practioner if she has knowledge about celiac and if not - could she research it before ordering tests so that you are tested for the right things
  7. I second what LKelly8 said. Our family seems to have more than our share of autoimmune illness, we were told that by finding the celiac, chances went down of even more problems developing. The celiac was diagnosed last - their poor systems were on high alert (immune wise) for years with undiagnosed celiac...that may have been the trigger for the other stuff...
  8. Is that about my comment ?? and Cindy responded with: Cindy seemed to get the message - to focus on her children - as I was going to do instead of staying at the computer PM'ing over this... as you read from the signature- I have struggled with difficulties since my daughter was born.. once with life threatening heart damage and we give needles...
  9. This is a good thread. So many good questions and advice. First I will answer the question from Mike re: inflammation. Yes inflammation is the bodies reaction to injury - it is: increased blood flow allowing platelets, white blood cells etc to be "on scene" reapiring the wounded tissue. that's the normal response. Inflammation can also be the cause of further...
  10. Even when my mom saw the transformation in her granddaughter - the energy levels, the slimmer tummy (was very bloated), the smiles , etc. Her comment - it cant just be from the diet - she is growing up and its normla for them to be pudgy and then slim out .... Even in the face of improvement - some people (no matter how hard you try) cannot believe everyday...
  11. You can't control other people's reaction - only your own. My mother basically called me a worrywort mother for 6 months prior to my daughter being diagnosed celiac (she was diagnosed first, then my son), she thought I needed "help" When they were diagnosed, she did an about face and was telling me all about celiac and bragging about how knowledgable she...
  12. I would just ask your doctors office to request the most recent blood work. Be nice and say - oh its good to see the GI sent you the first report - can you ask for the more recent one as that has higher levels - thanks. It may not be the GI , so much as the receptionist that sent the outdated report
  13. It is seperate from celiac if it is RLS. Here is a good site: Open Original Shared Link 2 brothers of my husband constantly move one leg when sitting - so I did some research - since my son sometimes does the same thing. But when he sleeps - he usually sleeps like a log and doesnt move much... so we ruled out RLS
  14. ditto - for the high glycemic foods. My son is diabetic/celiac. We use the Aunt Jemima lite syrup with the Van's waffles, add protein (egg or similar)to the meal to help slow the digestion a teensie bit. He has milk or water (not juice) wth them. We also limit them to days when he has blood glucose levels below 7 when he wakes up and we plan to exercise...
  15. One crumb is too much for the reasons everyone has stated, I am adding experience from my children. These experiences also convinced my DH who although he knew what celiac was etc., thought I was going overboard about cc........until.... my daughter who is the most sensitive in terms of showing outward symptoms - became ill after playing in am empty grain...
  16. Your pharmacist will be able to tell you... different brand names may have diiferent fillers etc. The pharmacist will have a book called the CPS manual (Compendium of phramceuticals) - this book contains all the ingredients in brand name and generici drugs. If it is unclear (modifed food starch) the company will have a direct phone number they can call.
  17. my kids were diagnosed when they were older but I have never had a problem with teachers - or the other kids if their snack was different. They were more curious than anything and after a few days, it was just the way it was - no big deal. I would send her favorite sancks that she likes - have her pick what she wants for the day. The other kids - if they...
  18. Daughter had the lowest # to be considered positive on blood work. Biopsies showed damage (subtotal villous atrophy). The GI said it is not common but does happen that the blood levels dont give any clue as to the intestinal damage. Inability to absorb B 12 is common on celiac damage. If you are positive - you are positive. Somone with a higher # doesnt...
  19. The clinical impression of celiac disease and the results of the serology evaluation are noted. [ This means the pathologist actually read the lab results showing blood evidence of celiac disease] Two of the biopsy pieces appear well oriented and demonstrate the expected villous-to-crypt ratio and normal villous histology. [means they looked normal...
  20. Actually I have enough on my plate with my 2 kids and their needs, so I dont want to get into PM'ing I am sure you dont have time to be PM'ing everyone either. It doesnt really matter what I think, take the advice you have been given and focus your time and energy on that fight. my kids want to play chinese checkers and then bike riding... so I'm off...
  21. iF the biopsy showed blunting of the villi - it's celiac. My daughter had bloodwork first and her anti-endomeseal antibodies were as low as they can get and still be called positive. The GI doc did the biopsy just to be sure celiac was ruled out, and see if there was something else going on in her small intestine. In fact the biopsy confirmed celiac (patchy...
  22. There have been numerous offers of support and help for you. Just because someone is asking for clarification doesnt mean they dont believe you - this is the internet, no one can see the other person. If you dont want to answer questions - that is your right. If you read the post - she di not go through it as a parent, she was the child and her mother was...
  23. Yup, my brother's sister has a son with many symptoms. I mentioned that her son should be tested because of the genetics - 2 cousins with it after all. Her reply: No, husband wouldnt be able to handle special diets in the house. ?? So then I said - well not everyone would have to change their eating. She then says : dont have the time, too much trouble...
  24. Wait for the results from celaic. Has this baby been worked up for inborn errors of metabolism? Endocrine problems like thyroid? Genetic studies? If not and the celiac panel is negative then ask your pediatrician what needs to be done to find out why this baby is a failure to thrive. Best of luck, it must be such a worry every day
  25. Heavens girl, you have so much going on, I hope things are coming together and you can get your kids back where they belong! Sounds like some others have come with great ideas and contacts. I was reminded by a relative today about a mom in the States had her baby removed because she was breastfeeding!!!!! (in the late 1990's)The LaLeche leage (they...
