AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I hope that works for you Floridian. I'm still taking vitamins, except I'm getting more forgetful about them. No, I haven't been accidentaly glutened. Just my daughter and she is just as ornery as always. -
ARCHIVED Diagnosis, Diet, Symptoms Etc
AndreaB posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was just curious at to people's diet before diagnosis, whether official or self diagnosis. Also whether anyone had symptoms that something was wrong etc. If you think of things not mentioned on the poll, please write and include it if you wish. I always miss something. To get the ball rolling, we were on a vegan diet before allergy... -

Donna, I'm so glad nothing serious is wrong with your foot. Donna & Rachel, Enjoy your vacations! Rinne, Welcome to the thread. It took me a day to catch up on this thread and that was about 3 weeks ago. Lots of good info and fun stuff. I agree with you about the MSG. We had purchased Dr. Blaylock's book excitotoxins and... -

My son has 2 celiac genes and my daughter and I have 1 celiac gene and 1 gluten sensitivity. My husband and I also tested positive to soy intolerance. My oldest son has mild malabsorption. We... -

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
That's too funny! My daughter is experiencing the symptoms after going gluten free and eating granola with oats, not to mention the gluten cookie grandma brought. She has had some tummy troubles this week with some diarrhea. My oldest son snuck some rice dream with his cow's milk. He doesn't like the cows milk and he had just recently got used... -

Thank you, thank you, thank you. And did I say thank you? The McCormick packet has potato starch in it if you can use that. Can you use arrowroot or does that bother you. That can be substituted for cornstarch. Otherwise I would think potato starch would do the trick. Floridian, Thanks for the recipe...sounds good. By... -
ARCHIVED A Kinder, Gentler Iron Supplement?
AndreaB replied to penguin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I took a supplement called gentle iron about 7 years ago. Fred Meyer/Kroger carried it. I forget the brand name. Some foods that contain iron: Egg yolk Fish Garbanzo beans Lentils Liver Molasses, blackstrap Mussels Oysters Red Meats Seaweed, greens As well as bread that we can't eat. Note: Only about 10 percent of food iron is absorbed... -
ARCHIVED Baby Of Celiac Parent: How Should She Be Tested?
AndreaB replied to alexisb's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Enterolab tests for the celiac genes as well as the gluten sensitivty genes. There are other threads on this forum that talk about enterolab if you are interested in learning more about them. Just do a search for enterolab. Just because a person doesn't have the celiac genes doesn't mean they won't develop non celiac gluten intolerance. This is... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Our diet is only void of gluten, soy and beans. I'm allergic to kidney and navy, hubby has problems with pinto. He's of the frame of mind to get rid of the rest. We still have a package of brownie mix I think that has garbanzo bean flour in it. I might make that and see how we do. We've already thrown out so much food it's ridiculous. Hubby threw away... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab
AndreaB replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My husband has 2 celiac genes but he is not gluten intolerant. Myself, my oldest son and my daughter are all intolerant and either have 2 celiac genes or 1 celiac and 1 gluten sensitivitly gene. My baby hasn't been tested yet. We got all our results from enterolab. So that is 3 positive and 1 negative for us. My husband and I are also soy intolerant... -

AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Julie, We won't let this thread end. Maybe since the weather is turning warmer and school is out people are out more. I haven't had much to report but have been reading. My little one has started having restless nights which is no fun for me. I finally told my husband to sleep in another room so he could get some sleep. With his hours he... -

ARCHIVED Enterolab
AndreaB replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
They say that the IgA in the intestines is testable for awhile. It may depend on how old she is and how long she had ingested gluten and whether she had a celiac diagnosis or not. Check out www.enterolab.com and email or call Phyllis. She will be better able to answer that question. -
ARCHIVED Baby Of Celiac Parent: How Should She Be Tested?
AndreaB replied to alexisb's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm in the same boat as you. I did not have a celiac panel done or anything like that. I had allergy tests done then went off gluten (except for Rice Dream, which I am now off) and then went through enterolab and learned I have a gluten intolerance. My thinking at this point is to run enterolab as soon as he is old enough to get a sample from. He will... -

ARCHIVED Is It Just Me? But Some Of This Stuff Seems A Bit Overkill.
AndreaB replied to jacklyn1981's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Welcome to the forum Jacklyn! I am one of those that doesn't have any obvious symptoms of gluten intolerance. To answer your question, small amounts of gluten will continue to cause problems for your intestines even if you don't have any obvious signs. Cross contamination is a real issue with many people who are this forum. My infant son is at least... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Recommend A Good Tomato Sauce?
AndreaB replied to Clark Bent as Stupor-Man's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I found my can of tomato sauce by Muir Glen. This one has no added salt but they sell both. Organic tomato puree (water, organic tomato paste), organic onion powder, naturally derived citric acid and organic garlic powder. What I don't remember is if citric acid is corn derived. -
ARCHIVED Anybody Know About Lupus?
AndreaB replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
That would make sense. It seems to me that I had read somewhere that soda pop can cause problems too, because of the aspartame. I do know there is a connection between pop and MS and I thought lupus improved with going off of it also. -
ARCHIVED Anyone Recommend A Good Tomato Sauce?
AndreaB replied to Clark Bent as Stupor-Man's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you have Muir Glen in the store you shop at, check that out. They would be in the health food section not the regular section. I don't have a can right now or I'd check the ingredients for you. I buy all Muir Glen canned tomatoes. -

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
GGRRRRR. I had to call my mother to remind her not to give the kids gluten. She brought cookies down for them while she was here watching the kids since I had to go with Mitch to the hospital. We don't have any obvious reactions but Micah already tested through enterolab with mild malabsorption.
