  1. Dear Deb, I did not intend to imply that YOU may have MS----- and I hope you didn't take it that way------Your neuro MD is infinitely smarter than I am --------- for sure ! I'm just hoping my symptoms are Fibromyalgia and not MS ---- My doctor wants to rule out MS before we pursue the Fibro dx and so do I. Anyway, as a philospher...
  2. Merika, Not to worry------- There's no wheat flour in my house No I don't BAKE gluten items from scratch for my husband---- what are you kidding ???? If I can't find it in the grocery store bakery, he will do without It's hard enough having to bake all my own stupid tasteless bread from scratch, pizza crust from scratch, muffins from scratch...
  3. Well, thanks Deb------ I am hoping all these symptoms are just neuropathy from possible Celiac. However, the facial numbness and tingling is a classic symptom of MS. However, in my research of Fibromyalgia, many of those patients suffer from the same exact neuropathy as you and I have. But their MRIs are clear. Some say their doctors tell them, they...
  4. I don't even try to keep a gluten free house. Everyone uses the same counters, tables, pantry, etc. The only thing in my house that is gluten free is me and my wooden spoons and iron skillets. I'm not paranoid about gluten. I cook gluten foods for my husband and the kids and grandkids when they visit.------- and don't give it a second thought. I just...
  5. You might want to get checked for Rosacea--- it can cause "adult acne". I always wondered why I continued to have flare up of zits into my 40's --- weird---- Went to dermatologist for a bump on my nose that came and went--- thought I might have skin cancer- he said I had rosacea---- Duh ! ! I should have known---- I had a red face for a couple...
  6. I would wait for the lab results---- unless you are SURE you are Celiac. Hopefully, you will have a nutritionist consult if you are Celiac-- I would probably only start off getting rid of gluten when the time comes--- You can always fine tune it (get rid of casien, soy, etc. if you need to ) as you go along. Gluten free is difficult enough...
  7. Thanks for your response Deb ! What is cell phone vibrations?? And did you ever have facial numbness and tingling ? Muscle twitching in various parts of your body ? Days of great fatigue ?? THen everything goes away and you feel almost "normal" for a while...... (except for the tingling- that never goes away for me ) As I write this down...
  8. Hi Deb, I see that you have had an MRI of the brain ( I am going for one on Wed ) and also you mention your neuro doctor. Are you seeing the neuro for your neuropathy ?What did he say caused it ??? Celiac disease??? Does he think you will get better in time, or just have to live with the problems. I would be interested in knowing just which neuro...
  9. Before I decide to get treatment for a questionable hpothyroid condition---- I would like to know of those of you with Hashimoto (or hypothyroidism )---- Do you take Synthroid and does it make a REAL difference-- Are you MUCH better------ anyone use natural thyroid homones with GOOD results ???? Thanks !
  10. Yes, I know what ANA is for ( my doctor was looking for Lupus and RA due to my widespread muscle and joint pains that come and go)----- But I just wondered if positive ANA was common in Celiac disease since it's in the autoimmune disease category also. I also find it odd that my ANA was negative and I'm allergic (truly allergic, hives, itching...
  11. Just wondering------- is a negative ANA common in Celiac disease. Seems to me the ANA would be positive if one had Celiac--
  12. Shay--- My ferritin was 36 My Anachoice screen w/ REFL to Titer, IFA anachoice screen was NEGATIVE rheumatoid factor was 8 (normal) I've been gluten free for 2 years now--- with off and on attempts in the past. (No, I didn't know that switching on and off gluten free diet, could be harmful back then ) I've no doubt my body could...
  13. Here's the thyroid tests I've had done over the years--- what do you think ??? In the year 1998- (before gluten free- ) No neuro symptoms but the PA thought my thyroid was enlarged : T uptake 26 T4 10.0 T7 2.6 TSH 5.1 In the year 2001(first tingling and numbness symptoms:) T- uptake 29.2 T 4 ...
  14. Hi Shay, My doctor did say I might be hypothyroid and he gave me some Synthroid 25 mcg to take and see if it helped with the fatigue. I have not started it yet. He also mentioned Hashimoto thyroid---- But I think he is focused on the possible MS before we chase any more rabbits-- : ) Some days, I feel almost normal energy-- some days I am...
  15. Thanks everyone ---- I will look into the suggestions---- very interesting---- Oh, here's what some of my lab showed: My B12 was 635 --- that seems to be a good number--- I am "borderline anemic" Hgb is 12.0 and Hct is 37.0 (Interestingly, my 46 year old sister has been recently diagnosed with anemia - source unknown ) My TSH, 3rd Generation...
  16. Hi Shay, It doesn't scare me, I've seen this coming for a long time------ I got scared about 8 years ago when I had my first symptoms. I'm over that now---- Just want to know what's wrong with me. I think it's either MS or fibromyalgia.
  17. I am having several symptoms of MS--- my doctor ordered MRI of the brain----- Has anyone on here with neuropathy had an MRI of brain to rule out MS-----because symptoms are similar.
  18. Davey Boy-- your post was so Funny ! ! ! ! You know you are a celiac---- if when traveling, your husband stops at Burger King and you have to hope for a grocery store near the Interstate where you can rush in and buy an avacado to tide you over til you get home .
  19. Jestgar, Is that a picture of your cat ?? Is he missing??? Looks just like the cat that Foxx news is showing as lost and they are looking for his owner. He weighs 44 lbs. ! ! ! !
  20. O.K.-- so I finally bought all the EXPENSIVE and UNHEALTHY ingredients to make my own bread. How do I store this potato starch ?? I live in warm, humid Florida... Should I keep it in the freezer with my other flours.???
  21. The Atkins diet is NOT A " NO CARB "diet---- You cannot live without carbs--- IT is a LOW CARB diet--- big difference--- Many people don't really understand what the Atkins diet is----IT is a balanced diet---- with LOW CARBS -- when you do it right---- YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT-- and it is a healthy diet
  22. I made pie crusts with Pamela's that I thought turned out well and tasted as good as the "real thing". (I don't care for the bread, however, too sweet for me. )
  23. A low carb diet has been successful for many people who cannot lose weight. You might want to read Atkins's "New Diet Revolution" book. The diet also decreases blood pressure, triglycerides, cholesterol and blood glucose. It doesn't matter how much you work out if you do not significantly reduce your CARB intake. It is not an easy diet for carb...
  24. A dentist told me years ago that receding gum lines can be caused from brushing too hard with a hard bristle tooth brush ( which I did all my early adult life---- ) and brushing in the wrong direction. I think I read somewhere that receding gum lines can be result of "aging"--- and maybe heridetary (sp?)---
  25. Thanks Vamonos for the recipe---- I'll give it a try !
