ARCHIVED Feeling Great gluten-free But.....
MyMississippi replied to Live4Hiking's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
When I went gluten free, the nasal stuffiness I've had all my life went away and I've had no more sinus infections. So the diet IMPROVED my sinus problems. I wouldn't think a" gluten free diet" could contribute to hay fever at all ---- -
ARCHIVED Gastroscopy - Normal Side Effects?
MyMississippi replied to Helena's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, it is normal to have sore throat after endo----- I'm surprised they didn't tell you that. And it's possible to have sore tummy, etc. All should resolve shortly--- if not, give the doc a call. -
I just got an email today from" About.com Celiac disease" that said gluten molecules were too large to be absorbed into the skin.

I'm thinking I might go for the gene testing since I am allergic to wheat and can't do the eating gluten thing. I really would like to know if I have the genes. I certainly have a suspicious family history for celiac----I've had abd. cramps, bloating, and "gurgling" intestines since I was 18. My son has had recurrent mouth ulcers since childhood-...

ARCHIVED Worried And Embarrassed
MyMississippi replied to MD2B's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
"Word gets around" about what ??? A med student wants to be tested for Celiac ??? There is no problem here that I can see. Give the doctors some credit for having empathy for a med student---- they were once one. I worked closely with doctors for 20 years, and just like all people. some are good , some are bad. Pick a good one...... As a... -

ARCHIVED Worried And Embarrassed
MyMississippi replied to MD2B's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Another question that we might ask ourselves is WHY ARE WE SO WORRIED ABOUT WHAT THE DOCTOR THINKS ????????? If not for all us sick folks, they could not buy their new boats, and new sports cars, new vacation homes, etc. etc. etc. WE ARE THEIR PAYCHECK--- They should greet us at the door with hugs, and coffee and donuts. Here's what I... -
ARCHIVED Can Gluten Intolerance Be Connected To Pancreatitis?
MyMississippi replied to lmrf's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Gluten FREE baked goods (bread, buns, pizza crusts, cookies, cakes, bagels, etc) are HIGH carb foods---- so are potatoes and rice, ice cream, etc. You will have NO trouble finding HIGH carb foods. They are everywhere ! But I don't know why high carbs are good for prancreatitis----- ???????? I'll have to look that one up . -
ARCHIVED Overwhelmed And Scared
MyMississippi replied to rainbowgoddess's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, First suggestion------ Don't be scared---- only makes EVERYTHING worse. Second suggestion----- to help with feeling overwhelmed----- Let this be your mantra " I will take one day at a time " , then pursue every avenue to wellness, but understand that it may take a while to sort everything out. Do go ahead and see the hematologist that... -
ARCHIVED Gene Testing
MyMississippi replied to MyMississippi's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I know gene testing isn't used to diagnose celiac. BUT----- Here's a quote from Dr. Peter HR Green, MD : "As celiac disease is in the genes,it will remain in the genes of families forever.... " my children are negative " is a common refrain. One should also add "for now" because Celiac disease can appear at any age in people who are negative in testing... -

ARCHIVED The Eggs, The Milk Or Both
MyMississippi replied to artselegance's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you were eating turkey bacon, some of those can have gluten, I think. My vote would be for the milk as the culprit -------- or you might be coming down with a "bug"---- -
ARCHIVED Some Wacky Symptoms...
MyMississippi replied to GF avenger's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Have you been checked for diabetes ?? UTI's and slow healing wounds, fatigue, are some symptoms you have that could be diabetes. As for the gluten issues---- if you must avoid wheat (as I must ) it's just as easy to be gluten free as wheat free. And that way you cover all your bases. -
ARCHIVED Is Blood In The Stool A Sympton?
MyMississippi replied to driedupfish's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Blood in the stool is a red flag to have yourself checked. This is not " normal " for any condition except perhaps bleeding hemorrhoids. And that would need to be checked also. Upper GI bleeding will appear as "coffee grounds" when you vomit. But it can be black and tarry when it passes with the stool. Lower GI bleeding can be red, bloody looking... -
