Who on this forum has neuropathy--- but is NOT a celiac--- but has a wheat allergy? JUst wondering if my neuro can come from my wheat allergy . (??? doubtful) Thanks ! -
I have decided to go soy free in an attempt to resolve my neuro symptoms.( I know in 1995 I had a class 2 positive blood test (Ige) to soy---) However, the allergist did not think I needed to avoid the class 2's. Anyway, I want to know how many of you got rid of your neuro symptoms going soy free--- ANd soy lecithen (sp?) is in all the chewing gum...

ARCHIVED Does The Spouse Really Understand
MyMississippi replied to Mally-bug's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My husband doesn't get it , and I don't care if he doesn't get it. He's one of those lucky people who has been very healthy all his life. ( and he has no empathy for people who are "sickly" ---- ) He is 59 years old (doesn't look it ) and can work circles around the 20 year olds today. He's always been an ACTIVE (hyper?) extrovert enjoying life to... -
ARCHIVED Ordering In Restaurants
MyMississippi replied to frec's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't expect to be able to eat ANYTHING out except the naked meat and a plain vegetable or salad--- It's too much trouble---- Boring yes, yuccky, yes, and in my case, RISKY---- --- So I RARELY eat out. Don't know what I'll do next time we take a trip abroad--- (starve to death, maybe ????) -

I disagree with the others on the bread machine. Seems to me you would just have to make sure the bread pan and the paddle are gluten free- (easy to do by a good scrubbing ) THen clean out all the crumbs around the bottom heating element and wash that down ( without submerging your machine ) of course clean the lid, etc. I am allergic to wheat and... -
Prediabetes means just what it says---- you're on the road to diabetes unless changes are made. Prediabetics have fasting blood sugars above 100---- but still in the range of "normal" ---- not enough to be considered diabetic--yet-- but headed that way. What to eat ???? simple--- you gotta go LOW CARB---- Read the Book "Diabetes Revolutin" by Atkins...

ARCHIVED Skeptical Mom Trying To Cope
MyMississippi replied to Paige'sMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
First of all, don't tell your daughter she can't eat the food she loves anymore--- because she can. She can still eat gluten free mac and cheese, gluten free cereals, pizza, muffins, cookies, crackers, etc. She does not have to feel deprived. The tricky part is eating out, fast foods, etc. And the HARD part is that you will have to learn to cook... -
ARCHIVED What's Wrong With Me!
MyMississippi replied to okgrace's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
You need to see a doctor if your stomach is killing you all the time. Or you can start an elimination diet to see if a particular food is the culprit. Or,You might want to just drink water for a 24 hour period and NO food at all - (if you have good health) and see what happens. I got multiple food allergies when I was in my 40's --- so it can... -
ARCHIVED Tryglycerides Way Too High
MyMississippi replied to finally diagnosed's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Ditto on eating low carb---- Much evidence shows that sugar, and simple carbs raise triglycerides---- Cut WAY BACK on these and see what happens--- NOT easy to do-----of course. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Panel
MyMississippi replied to MyMississippi's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The reason I would like to have the Celiac panel blood work done, is for the sake of my sister, who has anemia and some G.I. symptoms, and my son who also has some symptoms. My sister has agreed to get tested, but my son refuses to even think about it. If I were diagnosed by doctor as Celiac, this would carry more weight with him. And NO ! I DO... -

ARCHIVED Celiac Panel
MyMississippi posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am allergic to wheat---- so I cannot do a gluten challenge for the celiac panel or endoscopy. However, I have a doctor appt in 2 days and would like to have the celiac panel done since I have SO MANY celiac symptoms. But I started the gluten free diet in Sept. 2006. Has any celiac on this forum tested POSITIVE on celiac panel even though they... -

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Done This?
MyMississippi replied to LuvMoosic4life's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I just tell friends and relatives "Don't even THINK about trying to cook for me - " I tend to my own food--- and as much as possible don't even talk about it . If someone says anything, I just say, I'm allergic to wheat (which I am )---- and change the subject . Not gonna live my life around food issues. -
ARCHIVED Cinnamon For Type 2 Diabetes
MyMississippi replied to MyMississippi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Here's my recipe: It is nothing special--- (I'm rather a bland eater compared to most --- because between wheat allergy and prediabetes, there's not a lot I can eat ! Don't bother with these if you like light, fluffy, muffins,-- as these are somewhat dense (I like 'em that way ) Pumpkin Muffins 2 large or jumbo eggs 3/4 cup whole milk... -

ARCHIVED Cinnamon For Type 2 Diabetes
MyMississippi replied to MyMississippi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Shay, I've been low carb for a few years now---- I've been eating my home made pumpkin muffins for a year or more. (My only "bread treat" ). I can eat as many as 2 muffins at night with no raising of my FBS. So, for some reason they don't affect my blood sugar---- and yes, I've been eating them a few times a week for a year or so now. ... -
Just wanted to post this for those of you who are pre-diabetic, or type 2 diabetics. Check out the research on cinnamon helping to lower blood glucose. (excuse if this has been discussed before ) Maybe this is why to my amazement my pumpkin muffins (lots of cinnamon in them) did not raise my blood sugar levels. I'm prediabetic--- ( there is diabetes...
