  1. Good god no. gluten-free bread is just awful compared to the stuff with wheat. richard
  2. In fact, Just Born candies are probably about as safe as it gets. They don't make any candies that include gluten. I seriously doubt Mike and Ikes are contaminated. richard
  3. Every single expert I've ever read or talked to agrees -- injectables without exception do NOT have gluten. There's no need for concern. richard
  4. My father did have DH but no other real symptoms and he was highly positive on the blood tests. He did notice some improvement in a number of small things like mood and gas after going gluten-free and he realizes he needs to be gluten-free. He saw how horribly ill I was and knows that could have been him. richard
  5. Whole Foods gluten-free biscuits. richard
  6. I know folks who have always made their turkey gravy with cornstarch. Add in some giblets and it's great stuff!! richard
  7. In my case my symptoms indicated the possibility of additional problems, so while the doctor did a biopsy to confirm what the blood test already told us, he was also checking for other things. richard
  8. Thanks for all the research. I'll add that after 10 years of being gluten-free, I have yet to find a fresh or frozen turkey that has gluten -- unless, of course, it's stuffed. To me, turkey that hasn't come in contact with stuffing is not something we have to worry about over the holidays. richard
  9. Call the toll-free number listed on the web page and ask. richard
  10. Yow, making fruit and veggie trays in the bakery? Never heard of that. The Kroger we go to has a back room where all they do is cut up fruit and vegetables. richard
  11. If the fruit or veggie tray hasn't been open long or isn't near any obvious problems, I will eat it without washing it off. However, the hands in the bag thing is a no-no for me. richard
  12. Everything you ate sounds perfectly safe unless the turkey bacon had wheat listed. richard
  13. Not only is a a large majority of candy gluten-free, but you know that wheat has to be listed and in stuff like candy, malt made from barley is pretty much always listed. And somewhere out there, there's a huge list. richard
  14. Of course it could be celiac. And it could be something else. From what you've said, celiac would not be my first thought, however. It's really impossible for us to tell one way or the other. richard
  15. No, it's not necessary for everybody with celiac to avoid lactose. I never had the first problem with it. richard
  16. I tried them. Not bad, but definitely expensive. richard
  17. Every tea I've known to have barley has listed it. richard
  18. Skylark, I was responding to this line from her post: "She gave me antibodics for the flu." I was simply trying to point out to anybody who didn't know that you DON'T take antibiotics for the flu. Now please explain how your comment to me was supposed to be helpful. richard
  19. Even if a small percentage of people with celiac can go into remission, please note that even folks with no symptoms need monitoring. How often is tit that you want to have an endoscopy? richard
  20. When they tell you it can have "a" gluten in it, corn contains gluten. Did they tell you it's wheat? richard
  21. The true flu does not respond to antibiotics. It's a virus, not a bacteria. richard
  22. Both those brands are definitely gluten-free. richard
  23. It sounds like to me Sorrow needs to talk to the maker of the salami. Until then, it's absolutely impossible for any of us to know what this substance is. Speculation won't solve it. richard
  24. Corn isn't one of the top 8 allergens. richard
