  1. Doesn't really sound like DH, but if it is, dapsone would clear it up. If it isn't dapsone would do no good. richard
  2. In answer to the question in your topic header -- Yes. richard
  3. This one incident does not necessarily mean you are super sensitive. richard
  4. Giblets are essential. richard
  5. You'll pretty much be safe with any turkey as long as it hasn't been stuffed. richard
  6. Surgical masks will NOT stop smells from coming through. They're designed to stop germs and solid particles, not smells. The vast majority of people with celiac have absolutely no need for a surgical mask, but it's certainly your choice. Masks are common in some societies, particularly in Asia. richard
  7. I';ve heard of even some not so sensitive people reacting to some Amy's products. richard
  8. Call the company to be sure, but in 10 years I have yet to find a turkey that isn't gluten-free, unless it's been pre-stuffed. The "flavoring" is most likely turkey flavor, possibly rosemary. richard
  9. Good idea. Apparently mine was incredibly obvious because my dermatologist, who is no celiac expert, took one look and knew what it was. I never even had a skin biopsy. Unfortunately, he didn't know at the time about the celiac connection to DH. richard
  10. Ten years ago all my first-degree relatives got tested without trouble, but things with insurance have changed since then. richard
  11. Uhh, saintmaybe, you seemed to have been asking us if in our experience this looked like DH. I make no pretense that I can diagnose you in a photo, but like it or not, this looks absolutely nothing AT ALL like the DH I had for 20 years. Not even close. Mine looked like the guy showing us his elbow, although not quite that severe. richard
  12. Doesn't look anything like my DH did and it's not in a common spot for DH. Richard
  13. Generally speaking an allergy wouldn't so much come and go. Celiac is not an allergy, however, and for many of us, symptoms came and went for years on end. richard
  14. Amen. richard
  15. Umm, what does "liver congestion" feel like? richard
  16. Wheat would have to be listed. richard
  17. Another thread with a claim that S&B wasabi has wheat flour. Yet S&B's website lists no wheat flour in any of its wasabi. Does anybody know otherwise for certain? Open Original Shared Link ALSO, does anybody know of a wasabi that DEFINITELY has gluten? Please tell us the brand. thanks richard

    ARCHIVED Wasabi

I realize this thread is a year old but I was searching for wasabi and ran across it. The S&B powder mentioned in this thread as containing wheat in fact would APPEAR to be gluten-free. Online, the ingredients include cornstarch, tapioca starch, and corn flour, but no wheat flour whatsoever. Open Original Shared Link richard
  19. Sounds like foodfacts isn't too reliable. As noted, SOME Doritos have gluten, but not from MSG or artificial color (never found gluten in artificial colors). richard
  20. Yep, not DH. richard
  21. You couldn't go to a better place for eating gluten-free. Follow the advice in the links already provided.
  22. Yoplait is General Mills. Simply check the ingredients. richard
  23. I don't know what situation it is that you're in that makes you feel like you need to keep this to yourself, but I think it could be a mistake, especially if you start seeming standoffish or even rude to others. If your office does potlucks or any social stuff together, then it suddenly IS a part of your work life. Some offices depend on at least some social...
  24. Maltodextrin is not a problem. richard

    ARCHIVED Dapsone

I took it for 20 years with no apparent side effects. Your doctor needs to monitor at first with blood and liver tests and you should be looking to take the lowest amount possible that still works. Yes, it can have toxic effects, BUT the severe reactions are rare and are reversible as long as you are being monitored. When I first started I was taking too...
