    Although some folks have said on here that balsamic vinegar COULD contain gluten, I have yet to see anybody list one that does. As for soy sauces, La Choy, Kroger brand and San-J wheat-free tamari are gluten-free. The San J is more expensive but IMO it's the best of the bunch. richard

    As the woman told you, Boar's Head condiments are gluten-free, as are all their meats. Is there a reason you don't believe her? Virtually everything that has natural flavors in the U.S. is gluten-free. If wheat were in it it would have to be clearly listed, and just about all the time that barley is there you'll see something mentioning malt or malt flavoring...

    Where did you get this from? Their traditional wings are naked and done in dedicated fryers. All of their sauces except two are gluten-free. Of course there's always a chance of CC, but there are in fact things we can eat there. richard

    I usually buy prepackaged. However, another option is to check your deli case and see whether there's actually any deli meat that has gluten. The VAST majority -- and I'm talking just about everything -- is gluten-free. For instance, at my Kroger, all Boar's Head meats are gluten-free and all Private Selection meats are gluten-free.     Honey Baked hams are indeed gluten-free now. The glaze used to have wheat. I think Heavenly Hams still have gluten, though. richard

    Sounds gluten-free to me. I'm not sure what more one could ask for beyond a flat-out statement that wheat, rye and barley are not in their products. richard

    Dan300, it's much easier to read posts that are broken into paragraphs. Huge blocks of unbroken copy give most people headaches. In addition, a certain percentage of people simply skip what you have to say, as I did on your last post in this thread. richard

    I have no specific study as to gluten in eggs and, personally, I don't require one. I know that no celiac expert or organization in the world lists eggs as a danger for gluten and I know that celiacs all over the world eat eggs regularly. That's all the proof I need. Being gluten-free can be difficult enough without making up imaginary sources of gluten....

    I would guess that at least on the vast majority of the items the ingredients didn't change. What probably changed is that some company lawyer got paranoid they'd be sued if someone got gluten. And I wouldn't be at all surprised if somebody (or several somebodies) with celiac did get glutened and made all kinds of noise about suing. There are a lot of people...

    Is there a particular brand? Was is commercially smoked? Anyway, smoked hams without a commercial glaze are pretty much universally gluten-free in the U.S. Just about the only time I've seen gluten in ham is in some (though not all) commercial glazes. richard

    Assuming you are the U.S., there are in fact no rules at all yet as to what can and can't be called gluten-free. Manufacturers most certainly are NOT required to make it in a wheat-free facility.
