It really makes your hair have volume? Which one do you use? I use the one for blond highlighted hair and it makes my fine hair so soft and silky it won't do anything. The hairdresser couldn't even keep it clipped up! My hair feels good but it just lays there limply! All of the hairdressers that I have told I use Dove shampoo actually think that is...

ARCHIVED Ok Is This Doctor Clueless?
celiacgirls replied to Electra's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What about doing Enterolab testing? I would think Dr. Fine would be able to provide whatever documentation the school needs. They don't have to know he's an "internet doctor". -
This is a great article and the more articles about the benefits, the better. However, they make it seem more restrictive than it is, I think. They mention that they can't buy "citrus, apples, potatoes, avocados, peppers or tomatoes" implying that is part of the gluten-free/CF diet and they say they need "special shampoo and deodorant". I don't call...

ARCHIVED Question Regarding Accuracy Of Blood Tests ...
celiacgirls replied to LittleZoe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You can definitely get negative results on the blood tests and still have at least gluten intolerance. To me, gluten intolerance and celiac disease are the same thing but some doctors insist on the biopsy and/or positive blood tests. My daughter's blood tests were always negative but she is now gluten free and feeling better. If your blood tests are... -
ARCHIVED Is He Faking This?
celiacgirls replied to mdzplus2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This is probably not what you want to hear but my guess would be either he is still getting gluten from somewhere, possibly in cross contamination or shampoo or other products, or he has another intolerance as well as gluten. My daughter was gluten free before the rest of us and she would complain after eating food that was supposed to be gluten free.... -
ARCHIVED Question About The "other" Allergies Shown By Enterolab
celiacgirls replied to Gentleheart's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
The way I understand it, someone correct me if I'm wrong, is that Enterolab tests for intolerances rather than allergies. It is a different response in the body. Allergies produce an IgE response and intolerances produce an IgA response. Enterolab believes they are life-long but I don't know if there is other research supporting that. Enterolab... -
ARCHIVED Advil
celiacgirls replied to mbg98's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, they are gluten-free. I called in January to verify. -
ARCHIVED Funfetti Cake? Cream Of Mushroom Soup?
celiacgirls replied to AllysonBrightMeyer's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We like the 'Cause You're Special yellow cake. I have found it in a health food store here but you can also order it online. It looks just like a regular white cake. I haven't tried this, but I would think you could use some sprinkles just mixed in. A lot of Wilton's cake decorating supplies are gluten-free but you have to call to verify. I wouldn... -
ARCHIVED Before Diagnosis
celiacgirls replied to Kaycee's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My grandmother had celiac disease only she called it sprue. I knew she couldn't have any wheat flour. She was trying to do this diet from a very small town beginning in the 60's. We always had forgotten cookies (meringue), rice krispy treats, and oatmeal cookies at her house. She had some strange flour around, too, and she ate rice and corn chex. Now... -
ARCHIVED Could This Be Celiacs?
celiacgirls replied to Eriella's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It does sound like celiac disease or at least gluten intolerance to me. If you want the gold standard dx, you will have to keep eating gluten in normal amounts until you are tested by the doctor. If you are comfortable with self-diagnosing, you could just keep avoiding gluten since you feel better off from it. The risk there is that some day... -
ARCHIVED I'm Not Convinced Celiac Is My Problem?
celiacgirls replied to vbecton's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I found out I was gluten intolerant after my daughter, who did have GI symptoms, tested positive by Enterolab. I tested the rest of the family and we were also positive. I think my mood problems are worse than before if I've had gluten but it might be I'm just used to feeling good so I don't deal with it as well. -
ARCHIVED What's The Difference Between Dh And Dandruff On Head
celiacgirls replied to hapy4dolphins's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I used to have dandruff but now that I am gluten-free, it went away. It does come back if I use certain hair products. Definitely ones that have wheat in them but also ones that I suspect must have some gluten in them. So I am wondering if what I had was really DH or a wheat allergy. When I did have it, I discovered that using vinegar on my head got... -
ARCHIVED Question About Enterolab
celiacgirls replied to LynneM's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My daughter was mostly gluten-free for more than a few months before doing the Enterolab test. She was still positive. -

ARCHIVED Ok--casein.....lactose
celiacgirls replied to darlindeb25's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Casein is the protein in milk. Lactose is the sugar in milk. People with casein intolerances can't have any milk products but people with lactose intolerance can take something (lactaid?) to help manage their symptoms. Some products have less lactose than others so people with lactose intolerance will find some milk products to be ok. Since I'm casein... -
ARCHIVED I'm Not Convinced Celiac Is My Problem?
celiacgirls replied to vbecton's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
What are you eating now? This may be obvious, but are you watching for barley, malt, rye, and oats as well as wheat? If you are getting glutened now, you may be noticing it more than pre-diagnosis. I had symptoms of depression and fatigue pre-diagnosis, but if I am glutened now, those symptoms are much worse than they ever were. And it just takes... -
We are also gluten, dairy, and mostly soy free. I just recently ordered some gluten-free oatmeal and have been eating that and some sausage for breakfast almost every day. I like Wellshire Farms chicken sausage but it isn't too hard to find sausage that is ok. We also have grits and eggs for breakfast. My kids eat cereal with almond milk. Enjoy Life...

ARCHIVED Doctor Says Definitely Not Celiac
celiacgirls replied to Peta's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am another one who was told my child did not have celiac by 2 different pedi GI's and a pedi. While my child may not have celiac, she is definitely gluten intolerant at least. So I agree with the others. If this doctor doesn't find anything else definitely wrong, I would keep celiac/gluten intolerance in mind. -
My 9 year old daughter has become extremely anxious in the past few weeks. I'm not sure if it is anxiety related or just ADD, but she has also been unable to do her homework without taking hours. Not only is she whining about how hard it is instead of doing it, but she does seem unable to do simple math problems. Before she went gluten-free, she had a...

ARCHIVED Just Ordered A Gene Test
celiacgirls replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
About 90% of the people with celiac disease have DQ2. Another 8% have DQ8. That leaves 1 - 2% who have celiac who don't have either one of those. So it is possible you could still have celiac disease. -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Restaurant In Dfw, Athens Or Keller? Desperate!
celiacgirls replied to jazminecat's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I copied this from www.popartsplace.com/Celiac/. It lists places in Austin where other celiacs had a good experience. Since Pappadeaux is a chain, it would probably be the same in DFW. -
ARCHIVED How To Contact Enterolab?
celiacgirls replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have called and talked to Phyllis without being charged. It wasn't a nutrional consultation. It was more about what the diet could do for various members of my family. -
ARCHIVED Gluten...down Upon Eating
celiacgirls replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't ever purposely eat gluten but when I have accidently had it, I immediately feel very tired and brain foggy. The next day, I am very emotional and irrational. I continue to feel tired and irritable for a couple of weeks. When I first went gluten free, I immediately felt that "up" feeling. While I have been fine lately, I noticed yesterday that... -
ARCHIVED How To Get A Pre-teen To Go Wheat Free?
celiacgirls replied to janelyb's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have an 11 year old girl who has been Gluten-free Casein-free for about 8 months. She has major mood issues when she has casein and is more irritable when she has gluten. She knows this so she is somewhat motivated to stay on the diet. I'm sure if I tried to feed her only "healthy" food, she would cheat. I make sure I have plenty of "normal" gluten... -
ARCHIVED Casein And Soy Free
celiacgirls replied to Kassie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
www.soyfreesales.com has soy-free chocolate. I have not ordered from them yet but they have at least one with no milk says gluten free. Others do not have any gluten ingredients listed or milk but I haven't called to check them. I also snack on the Enjoy Life chips when I want chocolate.
