I've had that kind of ravenous hunger too, the pattern seems to be I eat and eat for several days and gain weight but then I just can't keep eating so much and the weight drops off. I think when I am that hungry I should eat, what works best for me is lots of protein and vegies, some fruit and nuts. I don't eat processed foods. What is your diet like...

ARCHIVED Undiagnosed, And Getting Nervous...
rinne replied to Reginald's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi. And welcome. So what's the obvious? I'm thinking cross contamination or dairy. It sounds like you may still have malabsorption problems, that would explain the weight loss but have you seen a doctor? Do you know where your vitamin and mineral levels are at? Do your blisters look like this: Open Original Shared Link or ... -
Hi Sara. I'm not very technical so I can't help you with where your posts might have gone too but I can tell you that you can google each of the products you have with gluten beside the name of the product and most likely something will come up. You can also contact the companies and ask them, that's cheaper than throwing everything out! Also there...

Bonjour. What a wonderful idea! I am in Canada so I cannot help you with it but I think it is a brilliant idea. I wish you much success. -
ARCHIVED Trying To Decide If Scd Is Right For Me
rinne replied to Kylie's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hi. I have been on the SCD for the past six weeks, prior to that I had been gluten and dairy free for about two and a half years, it took me that long to realize that just going gluten free wasn't going to heal me. In my case I knew that because every time I baked with the non-gluten flours I still felt like I was swallowing powdered glass. So... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
rinne replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I should go look for the article but I am sleepy right this moment, it was talking not only about our fillings but just environmental exposure everywhere. We have created a toxic environment for ourselves. I maintain that we are generally not a very bright species. I think it is critical, Dr.Klinghardt maintains that... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)

Thanks for the informative post Ali. I read something recently connecting the increase in diabetes to mercury exposure. -
ARCHIVED Is There A Celiac Support Group In Brandon, Manitoba Canada?

I was scheduled for an endoscopy five months after I saw the gastro and it took forever to get to see him. He mentioned celiac that day and I came home and did the research, talked to my mother and found out that my sister has IBS and celiac. I had already been off gluten for months when I saw the gastro and so the bloodwork they did was negative. I decided... -
Rant away. My mother-in-law told my husband she didn't think I was sick, just lazy. I laugh now but at the time it was not funny.

I'm glad you'll be seeing your doctor, I hope you get some answers and are feeling better soon.

What an interesting thread. I have not been tested through Enterolab but I have mentioned it to others as a diagnostic service some on the board have used. That was a very well written letter and certainly deserves a response but it doesn't surprise me that he hasn't answered yet, I would give him more time, I would think three months but maybe...

That's wonderful news. And now you know this is a great site for support.

ARCHIVED Restrauants That Say Gluten Free But Are Not Or Cross Contaminate
rinne replied to UnhappyCoeliac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Me too. I'm sorry you are feeling so badly and especiallyafter, as you said, paying for it. I've pretty much given up eating out and when I do it is only when I have to and then I eat minimally. I've come to the conclusion that unless this affects someone personally it is unlikely they are going to know much about it. Also, I am extremely... -
Thanks David, that was very informative.

That was sweet of you. So, we could be neighbours! I hope you don't have celiac, or crones, or colitis....and that you feel better soon. Good luck to you! -
That is wonderful. I've felt for years that calling such knowledge "old wives' tales" served the double purpose of creating distrust and insulting women. This is not true for me. I took three drops of a homeopathic remedy, it did not say grain alcohol on the bottle, under my tongue and within minutes I knew it was a grain based alcohol...

That is very interesting, I was a great water drinker for years and at one point wondered if I might be diabetic. Thanks.

First question: As someone who has had a lifetime of C I would suggest the doctor is an idiot. I know most people have D and honestly at times I wish that was my problem instead. I would say it is related. My experience is that if eat something that my body doesn't like it just stops working, at one point I was C for a week and that was with...

ARCHIVED Is There A Celiac Support Group In Brandon, Manitoba Canada?

My doctor gave me a prescription for something that I can't remember the name of either but I have it here somewhere, I did some research on it and discovered it stopped all absorption of B12 and given that I was critically low in B12 that just didn't make sense to me. It is probably why my doctor got rid of me, I was difficult. Heartburn indicates... -
Hi. I'm sorry to hear that you have been in distress for so long without any answers. I can relate. What I understand you to be saying is that there is a history of Celiac in your family, that you know a gluten free diet works well for you, and that your second pregnancy took more out of you than you have been able to restore even on a gluten...

ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
rinne replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
From what I recall of their fries, I can think of other foods I'd take a chance on before them, seriously. I just feel so spoiled with the most delicious food lately that I wouldn't risk it. As for fries I've made them at home and they were so good and doable I got ambitious and decided to make potato chips. Oh my, oh my, my first thought was... -

As I recall bran muffins may be quite tasty also, if it wasn't for the bran! Many people see improvements in not only their digestion but other symptoms too, as for the night blindness I haven't heard anyone mention it but you could always start a new thread about it. I know I have seen improvements in my willingness to drive at night, and... -
ARCHIVED Still Sick After Not Eating Gluten
rinne replied to MamaO's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, I'm not sure if that means you don't want to answer or if the post just messed up, it's fine if you don't, maybe I am just too nosy. -
For twenty some years I avoided bread because I knew I had a problem with wheat, particularly yeasty breads (didn't understand about gluten) I knew I had a problem because I couldn't eat just one cookie, or one piece of bread, if I started I ate the whole box, the whole loaf and would end up feeling sick and bloated, you know. So stupid on my part Often...

ARCHIVED Introducing Myself
rinne replied to pupok's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi and welcome. I can't do whiskey or scotch, I made that mistake once based on the information there was no gluten in alcohol. It seems there are levels of sensitivity, some can and some can't.
