Hamburger Helper Mix? Gluten free?

Does anyone know if the mix for Cheeseburger macaroni hamburger helper is gluten free? I'm having a hard time figuring out which ingredients are in the pasta and which ingredients are in the mix! I'd like to substitute with gluten free noodles and just use the mix. Thanks!

Probably has some flour for thickener.  But the ingredients will say something like - macaroni ( wheat, cuz) then cheese powder , onion, .....

what flavor  or do you like?  There  are some gluten-free versions or maybe we could help you make up some mix to use

I didn't think about flour! I like the cheeseburger macaroni best!

When I was a kid, my mom didn’t want to pay extra for the cheeseburger hamburger helper.  She just made her own with Kraft max and cheese.  You could just make your own with a gluten-free Mac and cheese.  Not cheap, but would work great.

And if you google, there are some recipes for gluten-free hamburger helper.  and there are gluten-free boxes of it- Walmart has one  you if you can find it (maybe order it online to pick up free at your store?). I have a friend that likes it.

I use Velveta (sp?)  rather than taking a chance on a powdered mix.  Just brown the beef and cook the pasta then add either the velveta that comes in a box or the packets.  I always liked the cheesy to be extra cheesy and using the velveta I can make it as cheesy as I like.

I was going to chime in as a gluten free chef as to some alternatives here of similar options I have done for people EASY ones get a lundberg rice kit of choice, stir in browned ground meat of choice, sausage, or shrimp. I will link these. Other things I grew up in a Mexican family...we did not do hamburger helper but we did often do something called migas, were you dump some crushed up frito or tortilla chips in a frying pan, and cracked a bunch of eggs over them and scrambled it up then topped with shredded cheese and either ate  it as a burrito or with a fork with some salsa over it. I recent redid this with protein no carb tortilla chips and had a nostalgia child hood flash back of how a cheap and easy meal can be so wonderful lol. Anyway have a look as these lundberg kits and imagine them with browned burger, sausage, bacon, or shrimp in them for some easy meal ideas. Open Original Shared Link

Welcome to the forum @Mushroom73!  About 8% of celiacs cross react to the oat protein avenin. That means 92% do not. A likely higher percentage probably cross react to CMP (Cow's Milk Protein) https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC1810502/. Corn, eggs and soy are also common cross reactors. It would be impossible to eliminate all foods that some proportion of the celiac community cross reacts to and still be able to produce meaningful products. I would also add that it is not true that companies catering to the gluten free community put oats in all their products. That is a gross exaggeration. It is true that oats are found in many gluten free products. But I understand that you are frustrated in the sense of many of the gluten-free products that you would like to consume contain oats. There are many in the celiac/gluten sensitive community who feel the same way about dairy and soy which are also common ingredients in gluten-free products.

Hi,  I was diagnosed over 30 years ago at the Univ. of Iowa. I also cannot tolerate oats. I find Nugo Dark bars are very good. But, the MOCHA uses real coffee beans and has caffeine. Kind bars with oats are also very good.  Really hope this helps.

I do not understand why manufacturers think everyone that actually has Celiac can tolerate oats. They don't understand that not all of us can. they think it is fantastic and start putting this in all their products making them unusable for me.  So frustrating!!

Comparing results with different units can be very difficult, or impossible. What are the normal ranges for each result?

my ttg iga was 16.5 3 months ago and jumped to 30.1 last week. my iga was 415 and jumped to 455. This was done at a different lab though than the first test for ttg iga one had units as ml the other as cu... so not sure if they really jumped as much as shown. i am so strict on my diet and have no clue why this is happening  thank you for attaching this, could this happen randomly even after being gluten-free for so long ? my ttg iga was 16.5 3 months ago and jumped to 30.1 last week. my iga was 415 and jumped to 455.
