Well, this is good, but of course there isn't and will never be huge interest from the usual supporters of research (drug companies) due to the fact that celiac disease is treated by diet, not drugs. There's no profit in dietary changes! Of course, I'm sure drug companies are working on SOMETHING all celiac patients can lighten their wallets by taking endlessly! Any drug you have to take your entire life is a good money maker.

I found this quote interesting from the link:

"Symptoms of celiac disease might include unexplained anemia, irritability, depression, weight loss, vitamin deficiency and early-onset osteoporosis,” Kagnoff said. “Only about 10% of patients have what might be considered typical symptoms. We have a huge educational job with primary-care physicians to recognize and treat the disease.”

There we go again....those WEIGHT LOSS comments, which is what all doctors with just a smidgen of celiac knowlege look for....and one thing I've learned is that the weight loss thing is NOT always present! Yet, every press comment further propagates the idea that one must be underweight to have celiac disease. Irritating, but it just shows you how superficial press information tends to be!

Do I sound irritated just a bit? Guess I am....considering how many people may possibly have celiac disease, it's just astounding that doctors aren't better informed....that the medical community in general seems so clueless. Blah blah blah, I could go on and on, but you all know what I'm talking about. We've mostly all been there!

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
