Celiac After Gastric Bypass

I had Gastric Bypass about 2 years ago this February, one month after the initial surgery I had an adhesion form and had to have emergency surgery to remove the adhesion. One month after that I had to have my gal bladder taken out due to stones.

About a year after the Gastric Bypass I started having problems with bloating, gas and other issues. It kept getting worse and I thought it was meat that was causing my problems. Decided to do a deep investigation and found a site that described my symptoms to a tee...

When I asked my surgeon about my problem he said that is one of the side effects of the surgery and it only happens to a small percentage.

Getting desperate because I could not go anywhere without total embarrassment, I started investigating and found a site that explained all my problems to a tee..

Come to find out my Brother-in-law has this too.

I have been on a Wheat/Gluten free diet for about 2 weeks and it has made a remarkable change.

Does anyone else know of someone that the onset was caused by the Gastric Bypass.

I am going to notify my surgeon and hopefully help others that are going through what I have been thru...

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
