Wow, okay, I think I can get through this without rereading, lol:

Stuporman - LOVE THAT NAME!! I didn't really have any specific symtoms that could be attributed to the vitamin thing, but in general wasn't healing well. I started by doing the SCD diet, then cut out corn, and cut down on MSG and at the same time quit all supplements. I think just staying off of them for a while has really helped. The last couple of days I've been trying to reintroduce just a couple of them and so far so good.

Cecile - love the new pic of Anna!

Christina - I'm so sorry, I agree with Susan and Vincent.

Sally - WELCOME, sorry I'm late, lol!

Julie - I am also interested in the adrenal stuff...did you post links when you first posted about it...if so I may have bookmarked them...must go look.

Rachel - you are one insane person, lol. I went out two times this weekend and all I could think of was getting back to my shorts/tank top and my couch. You should definitely come to the Stanford thingy...I'm planning on going too--it would be fun to meet up with everyone.

Robbin - wow, so sorry about the eyes.

Everyone, HELLO!!!

Susan...you were right!! Scratched up bloodied arms = good times!

One of the guys at work asked how my weekend was and I held up my arms....he was like "COOL...you had fun!".

 The rest of the people just thought I was freaking out of my mind for even going outside. <_<

See, good times indeed! except, the caveat is.....*I* don't go outside except for ESSENTIAL things when it's over 95---

IT"S SO HOT HERE ("how hot is it?) that I actually had to hydrate my baby wipes  with a water mister....they were drying out...

Sally, I posted a message to Christine - I feel her pain and agree w/ Vincent - the "friend" thing usually doesn't work, or if it DOES, it's after a very long time, much distance, and healing has taken place. And, he doesn't even sound like a keeper for friend material, really.....mommy's boy.....

Rachel, Julie, I was prepping the dingos for the assigment!! Oh yes, they love special assignments and are up for anything.....but Whew! glad you're back safely from the annals of R-ville - - yes, v. scary indeed going BACK.....much too hard to search......

gotta go......too much to do....gotta make some jewelry to sell.....oh and grandma rosie's funeral is tomorrow, must take care of the family.....

Donna, I don't think I posted a link, just quotes and info. about the relationship between histamine and adrenal function. I went back (yes it was scary indeed going back  ) and found it on page 194. Seems like it was a lifetime ago, but it was only 2 days  Life sure does move at a rapid speed here in Rachelville.

Susan, I'm so glad we have our dingos! And you are like a Jack of all Trades (is that the correct expression? ) It seems you can do anything and everything. I think that is fabulous!

You take good care of your family and my thoughts are with you and yours for tomorrow :)

Julie, I keep forgetting to address the adrenal thing. You know more about this than I do but I agree that it somehow plays a part. I had some questions I wanted to ask but dont have time right now...dont let me forget. :)

ok, I will remind you!

Wow...that was a lot for one night to cathc up on. Good thing I took the day off from work!

Just finished cleaning off the outsideof the house, and was wondering if we could outlaw spiders in R-Ville somehow. There were dozens of webs out on the siding, and now none. :)

Anyway, I may have to go lay down...am not feeling so well today.

Robbin, sorry to hear about the eyes, and hope you can remember what it was you wanted to ask me.

HAGD all! ;)

Yes Ryan, I support a spider-free cult farm. Okay, so that's auxigro histamine inflammation gluten dairy spider free cult farm. (although dairy contraband will be tolerated for Rachel and others who can tolerate it, lol)

Julie - thanks...I will go back (OH NO) and search page 194.

I looked on my computer at the temperature and it said 84....then I went outside. It's not 84. It's 184. I felt like an ant under a magnifying glass. The thought of having to go out to Blockbuster is pure torture. I wonder if my husband would find Lifetime Movie Network interesting....

I'm pretty sure I could single-handedly get rid of all the pesky insects....I mean help them relocate to a better farm.

That's my favorite phrase from the hilarious, fabulous, and way hunky duo from While You Were Out - Evan Farmer and Jason Cameron.

 about the jojoba oil Susan, I'm thinking it was too much? So sorry, or what about leave in conditioner? I guess you will have to ask our hair/beauty expert nikki-uk about this....

no, I didn't emerge from the shower like that  I long for wash and go hair.....if I washed and went, believe me, it wouldn't be pretty.

ahhh Patti, you are always too kind :)

I have a question for you about claritin, does it increase your appetite or cause any noticable side effects for you? I am trying to look for the side effects on-line for any information but I can't find any....

Clark Bent as Stupor-Man Contributor

so it looks like there are a number of you who have felt better after stopping all vitamins/supplements even when they didn't have any identifiable "bad" ingredients... I can't help but think I'm just bugging out by worrying about the possibility of negatively reacting to supplements but there's a part of me that wants to say I was feeling better a few months ago prior to introducing these vitamins/supplements, which I've taken on and off again since then... can't really tell much at the moment anyway since I'm taking an antifungal to treat the candida...

unfortunately, there are no easy answers, as I'm sure you all know... but say, for instance, I am taking a probiotic right now, which I've been told and read in numerous sources is essentially necessary while taking an antifungal to eliminate candida... I don't want to stop it but at the same time, I'm not positive it doesn't make me feel worse although it's hard to tell what could be related as the symptoms I'm currently feeling could simply be candida detox symptoms.. who knows..

what's up julie... I remember that you similarly negatively reacted to the metagenics ultra clear shakes, which is the only supplement I'm nearly positive I reacted to... so you felt better after stopping the pure vitamins, huh? they're supposed to be pretty much top of the line, cleanest vitamins, no?

I don't really have stomach issues with the vitamins/supplements.. maybe here and there but that's not what I'm concerned about... the symptoms that concern me are more general body aches and weakness, leg pain, brain fog, and the feeling I sometimes get running through my body almost as if there's something coursing through my veins...

I'm on the fence now about what to do... my nutritionist really wants me to take a whole bunch of supplements and I'm questioning the limited number I do take... I might give it a trial run while trying to keep everything else constant but it's generally hard for me to ascertain what I'm reacting to..

as for my user-name, thanks... gotta have a sense of humor to get through this.. but it looks like you guys already have over 200 pages under your belt in that department

dlp252 Apprentice

I agree Charlie, it's so hard to know what exactly is causing it all. I tend to have delayed reactions so it's hard for me to tell too. It's really hard to keep a detailed enough journal sometimes, and I have kept a daily health journal for the past 4 years, but I still find it hard to be detailed enough. I thought all my supplements were pretty good quality and I tried to make sure they were free of at least the major allergins...I think it was just that my body was so overloaded and irritated. I wish I had something that would help you.

We can always use more humor in Rachelville! :P

jerseyangel Proficient

Hi Charlie, Sorry, I meant to answer you before. I do have problems with a lot of suppliments that I have verified gluten-free. Freeda Vitamins comes to mind--they caused me stomach upset right away. I have yet to find a digestive enzyme or probiotic that agrees with me. I used Culturelle (probiotic) and became nauseous with got D within a few days. I tried Whole Foods brand digestive enzymes--marked gluten-free. Same thing. I take (surprisingly) a Centrum Advanced every morning, and am fine with it. My system is pretty sensitive--I'm intolerant to a lot, so I feel that I'm just better off with not taking a lot of suppliments. Good luck with finding the right combination for you :)

Julie, I've used Claritan for years and have never noticed any side effects from it. According to my allergist, the older, non-sedating antihistimines can cause an increase in appetite.

Yeah....in my search I saw a post from Mango....it made me realize that she must be gone now???

Hopefully we will hear something from her soon...I hope she doesnt forget about her Koala mission. :P

I've been here briefly on and off for the past few days...with not much time to post

I must bid you all farewell for a short while as it's time to venture to the far off lands. I'll be sure to seek out very talented and magical koalas, since it just wouldn't be right to have miraculous, protective, auxigro detecting geese...and just plain old koalas....

I'll be looking forward to seeing what kind of relevations you're all having when I come back to check in (which will probably be soon. I mean, my R'ville job title states I must report back with all the news and information from the far off lands - whatever that may be  ).

Goodbye for now. :(

Patti- I'm the same way with vitamins, I can't tolerate ANY OF THEM, not even centrum. Ever since I got mono, my body's not having it. I found a liquid food based iron that I can take, but that's it right now. I'll worry about vitamins later.

Meredith- Have a safe incredibly long flight! I wish you many memorable adventures and delicious pavlovas!! Made with something other than whipped cream...

Maybe the magical koalas can pollenate our organic, non GMO, auxigro-free, bug-free fruits and veggies. The dingo's and geese have enough to do.

Um, my hair is kind of falling out. I had my hair in a ponytail today and when I took it down there was quite a nest of hair on my hair thingy. I've definitely dropped more than 100 hairs today :o

My mom blames it on malnutrition and our incredibly thick hair. Even so, it freaked me out. I'm not going to be surprised with anything else wierd that happens with my body

Oh, and the smaller of the two culinary schools in town got back to me, they are familiar with celiac, but don't think they'd be able to teach me :(

Apparently there is a vegetarian/vegan culinary program around here, but that would be no fun. I'm a meat eater and they use lots of gluten, too. I'm also not paying $10,000 for a program that's not even accredited.

Welcome to the forum, @catsrlife! Celiac disease can be diagnosed without committing to a full-blown "gluten challenge" if you get a skin biopsy done during an active outbreak of dermatitis herpetiformis, assuming that is what is causing the rash. There is no other known cause for dermatitis herpetiformis so it is definitive for celiac disease. You would need to find a dermatologist who is familiar with doing the biopsy correctly, however. The samples need to be taken next to the pustules, not on them . . . a mistake many dermatologists make when biopsying for dermatitis herpetiformis.
    • trents
You state in an earlier post that you don't have celiac disease. Here in this post you state you will "be doing another test". What will this test be looking for? What kind of celiac disease testing have you had done? If you have used a Entero Labs it sounds like you have had stool testing done for celiac disease which is not widely accepted as a valid celiac disease diagnostic testing method. Have you had blood antibody testing for celiac disease done and do you realize that for antibody testing to be valid you must have been eating generous amounts of gluten for a period of weeks/months?
    • Gigi2025
No, I've not been diagnosed as celiac.  Despite Entero Labs being relocated to Switzerland/Greece, I'll be doing another test. After eating wheat products in Greece for 4 weeks, there wasn't any reaction.  However, avoiding it here in the states.   Thanks everyone for your responses.

Thank you @JulieRe so much for sharing this extra information. I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better and I hope it keeps moving in that direction. I feel I'm having so many lightbulb moments on this forum just interacting with others who have this condition. I also was diagnosed with gastric reflux maybe about 10 years ago. I was prescribed ranitidine for it several years back, which was working to reduce my gastric reflux symptoms but then the FDA took ranitidine off the shelves so I stopped taking it. I had a lot of ups and downs healthwise in and around that time (I suddenly gained 20 pounds, blood pressure went up, depression got worse, and I was diagnosed with OSA). At the time I attributed my change in symptoms to me taking on a new stressful job and didn't think much else about it. They did give me a replacement gastric reflux drug since ranitidine was off the shelves, but when I went on the CPAP for my OSA, the CPAP seemed to correct the gastric reflux problem so I haven't been on any gastric reflux drug treatment for years although I still do have to use a CPAP for my OSA. Anyway that's a long story but just to say… I always feel like I've had a sensitive stomach and had migraines my whole life (which I'm now attributing to having celiac and not knowing it) but I feel my health took a turn for much worse around 2019-2020 (and this decline started before I caught covid for the first time). So I am now wondering based on what you said, if that ranitidine i took could have contributed to the yeast overgrowth, and that the problem has just been worsening ever since. I have distinctly felt that I am dealing with something more than just stress and battling a more fundamental disease process here. I've basically been in and out of different doctor specialties for the past 5 years trying to figure out what's wrong with me. Finally being diagnosed with celiac one year ago, I thought I finally had THE answer but now as I'm still sick, I think it's one of a few answers and that maybe yeast overgrowth is another answer. For me as well, my vitamin deficiencies have persisted even after I went gluten-free (and my TTG antibody levels came down to measurably below the detectable limit on my last blood test). So this issue of not absorbing vitamins well is also something our cases have in common. I'm now working with a nutritionist and taking lots of vitamins and supplements to try and remedy that issue. I hope that you continue to see improvements in working with your naturopath on this. Keep us posted!

Back at the end of July I got this rash on both of my forearms. It started on my right and continued to the left. It was on the top and side. The rash has bumps that would pop with clear liquid if scratched. They would almost crystalize and scab up. They reminded me of chicken pox. They would scab for weeks and not heal much at all except for the blood clotting. If the scab was scratched off, it would bleed and bleed until it scabbed up again. The skin has lost its pigment where the scabs are. I figured it was probably either the plant I had trimmed around the 15th or some reaction to the magnesium complex I was taking or an allergic reaction to the asthma meds I was on. I stopped the asthma meds and the magnesium. The rash seemed to get better but when I took the asthma meds it flared up again so I went to the urgent care as my doctor was unavailable. The UC doctor said it probably wasn't the meds and asked about my diet. I said I was strict keto. I usually am, but there is a story around this. I feel amazing on keto. When I eat sugar, wheat, and starchy veggies I feel horrible. Blood sugar goes up, IBS type symptoms, brain fog, etc. But I have a horrible addiction to carbs so I blow it sometimes and after Mom died in 2023, I fell off the wagon. No rashes, just weight gain. I finally went back on keto and then around that time had a piece of pizza (or so, it's hard to stop the carb rush.) So I was strict keto, off and on. She ignored that and prescribed some allergy meds. It didn't go away.  What was happening by then was that the rash was now on my upper elbows, both of them, on the back of my arms. It starts with a very itchy bump, spreads around it and sometimes just burns like crazy and other times just itches. Then it started on the sides of my knees on the oustide, a little bit down the sides of the calves. It's not as bad there as it is on my arms even though it comes and goes (and so does wheat in my diet.) I then got three tiny blisters on each hand, 3 on the insdie of my index finger on the right hand and 3 on the inside of middle finger of my left hand. There is still a little scab there even though it was two weeks ago. No more have appeared on the fingers. But right now the back of the arms above my elbows are starting to itch. At some point I started to think mites from the possum that was sneaking into our house but it's been 3 months and they would be dead already. It wouldn't be from humans because I don't go near any humans although I did take an Uber to the doctor and the bus back. Plus, it's symmetrical. It starts on one side and is almost identical on the other.  I did my DNA with Ancestry and MyHeritage. I don't have the HLA-DQ2 or HLA-DQ8. I do have HLA-DQ2.2. I took the blood test but it was negative. Then again, I don't eat wheat every day. I rarely eat it except for lately when I've been preparing for the blood test if I have to take it again. I don't like to. It makes my joints hurt, gives me brain fog, stomach problems, I sleep in the middle of the day, etc. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow. I hope that she will be more serious about this than the UC doctor was.  So I have no idea. With my luck they'll magically disappear before the doctor appointment. That's what happens with everything.
