OMG does Karen also have an alien in her stomach.....

LMAO...

Not that I want anyone else to have an alien baby taking up residence but.....please....dont let me be the only one.

It sorta seems like the little fellow has calmed down some. I'm guessing the next ultrasound wont be quite as scary....hopefully the alien baby wont make everything bounce all over the screen and we might actually see something. B)

Tavi, I'm so glad you are our resident bum! I picture you pitching a lawn chair in the front yard of grand central station, putting your feet up, sipping lemonade, and watching the coming and goings of all of us crazy town flolk..

Cecilia, this is what I am calling you because I am too confused  It's a combination of Celia and Cecile, no? I love baby feet. They are the cutest things, little feet, little toes. I kiss my nieces feet all the time.

Chels, great idea about the bats, of course accessorizing them in purple and glitter so they are pretty is a gosh darn relevation. Why didn't I think of that!

About culinary school, sorry about the news. I hope you won't give up on it though, something might come up you never know. Keep the dream alive!

Tavi....awesome name. I love it.

I have to say its WAY better than Sally...glad you decided to be "yourself" here in R-Ville. :D

Rikki Tikki Explorer

Oh, Julie that does sound good! I think your hair looks great, not at all like the hair of the 80"s!

Thanks Rachel, guess my name is only strange to me!

I have to tell you guys, my breasts and tummy have grown so I might have the alien baby in me! I think I posted on another thread that I was asked if I was pregnant! Not a chance of that! Maybe this alien baby jumps from one to another!

I had heard a really great saying about the sun coming up in the morning, but just can't remember what it is. I always wished I was an enlightened soul!

I do remember "don't look back your not going that way." But still there was one about the sun coming up, hmmmmm ;)

I was thinking we also need a welcoming committee for all the new people! Like welcome wagon, but welcome r-ville type thing

what's up julie... I remember that you similarly negatively reacted to the metagenics ultra clear shakes, which is the only supplement I'm nearly positive I reacted to... so you felt better after stopping the pure vitamins, huh? they're supposed to be pretty much top of the line, cleanest vitamins, no?

Hey Charlie,

As far as I know some of the brands of supplements you and I have taken/are taking are the top of the line purest of pure. It got to the point where I was taking a whole pharmacy of capsules and pills and powders, not really knowing what was in them or if they were doing any good, some I even thought were making my problems worse like enzymes, probiotics, and different candida remedies to name a few. I definitely have felt a difference off of them. I think it was good for me to give my body a break, it was a lot of work to break down all of the supplements. I worry about not having enough vitamins and minerals, but I focus on eating a balanced and varied diet and try to get it from my food.

You could always do a trial run, go off of them when you are up to it and see what happens.

Hey all!

I've mainly been lurking today. Am I sick? :P

Susan,

You have been there during this great time of need for your family and I'm sure that means a lot to them. Don't be to hard on yourself. Move forward and don't look back with regrets. Regrets help us to grow but not if we don't let them go.

Karen,

I hope that you get some relief real soon. I can't imagine how you can even get enough rest.

Julie,

Glad to see you posting. You've been off today too. Are you feeling alright?

Cecile,

Hope you have a good nights rest. Talk to you tomorrow. I've gotta get used to you being off during the day......for now.

Cissie,

Hope you feel better tomorrow as well.

Rachel,

You are feeling great......pass it on.... :P

Miamia,

How are the meds doing? Are you still really tired?

Chelsea,

Are we down to the last month now? I don't know how you do it. I'm sorry to heare that the culinary school won't work out.....there must be something out there that you can get into, don't give up your dream.

Rinne, Robbin, Vincent, Picard, Ryan, Patti, Donna, Tavi, Evie, Alison, Armetta, Meredith down under, Jeny, Lynne, Nikki, Lisa.........hope all is going well with you guys. If I missed anybody I'm sorry.

Hopefully Meredith will be able to log in before too long and let us know how the trip down was.

Julie,

Glad to see you posting. You've been off today too. Are you feeling alright?

Andrea, I am good. I have been reading a lot, so much to catch up on! And I'm taking pilates classes so my free time is taken up with that. You always are checking up on all of us, making sure we are ok, how about yourself, are you doing ok??

How is Seth my King of Kings  I don't know if the others went for that, I think it was suggested he be the Prince Consort or something, I guess there will have to be a vote.

Donna :lol::lol::lol:

You crack me up! I almost peed my pants reading about how you would take care of the bats that got into our hair!! I'm glad to know you didn't make up the whole "brown out" I guess I don't have to worry that you had gone on a Bumble Bar binge, just making stuff up  Now that I know what it is, I hope it won't keep you away from the board for too long. But it looks like the heat wave is not quite over yet....

OMG....Donna I need your help!!

I'm still having problems with these "biting" ants. No more being nice and swatting them away....I wanna squash these suckers right into the ground.

What the heck is going on?? How can regular black ants bite or sting me like this?? I'm finding the whole thing to be rather disturbing. These are some very mean ants. <_<

Now red ants are a different story...... We are having an explosion of them in Ontario this year and they like to bite! <_<

Nighty night folks, thank all of you for being you :D

We are fine. I'm just in a quiet mood I guess, which is why I haven't been posting too much today. Of course, maybe I'm just too tired after reading 30 pages to catch up. :P Seth is great, but very tired. Just started getting him on a schedule and I had to go shopping today. I almost hate to go grocery shopping anymore since it always takes the alotted food budget with one fell swoop. Anyway, we can never get down and back very quickly....usually about 3 hours at the least. We made it in just under 3 hours today since I was in a hurry to get home and only went to Wild Oats. They are about 45 minutes from us. My mom is coming down tomorrow. Get ready for a hectic time. She will probably bring the play dough which the kids usually love to play with and I'll have to tell her they can't play with it. She already thinks we are being to strict. Of course, I could let them play with it and supervise them going to wash there hands immediately. I'm planning on making some bread tomorrow while mom is here. Annalise Roberts bread, just the regular stuff. We have the house segregated now since Seth is starting to get everywhere. We have to go clear through the house to get to the front door which is in the same room I'm always in but on the other side of the couch we are using to block Seth in along with a gate to complete the blockage. Now if he starts going under the couch, I'm in trouble. :P

I dunno how it happened...I just started talking about how maybe I can eat dairy cuz maybe I'm just intolerant to corn and then I figured out that its actually MSG I need to worry about so I started eating veggies and got worse cuz they sprayed Auxigro chemicals on my yams (bastards!) and then I found out about sulfites and then somehow we became a cult farm cuz we didnt want to get sick living in the chemical ridden gluteney world out there and then people wanted to live here where its happy and safe and next thing I knew Rachelville was created and we have geese that protect the crops and cows that provide fresh milk and someone told me I was President and I'm really trying to do the best I can but presindency isnt really my forte but here we all are and now we even have glittery bats and we dont have to worry about pest control cuz we have Donna and lots of other people here to keep R-Ville up and running and full of laughs and love everyday. :D

P.S. I eat dairy now....and LOTS of it...in the form of ICE CREAM!! I'm still reveling in this remarkable turn of events. :D

ummm....is reveling a word??

Karen; A few pages back I read of your numerous 'D' daily, how do you keep going or are you weak? Reason I ask is...a few months ago I was having 'D' several times a day, losing weight fast and my GI ordered a nuclear med test that showed I had "dumping syndrome" where my food went thru so very fast.

I was told to eat many small meals daily & after 2 months I started feeling better but am still eating 5 times a day. Hope my story might help you. It seemed the celiac had affected my tummy & intestines to work at a fast speed. Best O" luck to you!! :):) evie

That made me chuckle.

Glad to make you giggle, nice to meet you Tavi, and I think town bum is a brilliant job. :) Does this mean that all the park benches in Rachelville will be cushioned?

Thanks Robbin, here's another one for those who don't know about ginger tea. Simmer fresh ginger in water for five to ten minutes, strain and drink. Proportions will depend on how strong you like it but maybe about 8 quarter size pieces. This really helps the digestion and reduces pain.

You know this is such a coincidence! I just bought a copy of Mother Earth News today and there was an article about fresh sauerkraut and the fact that it contains lactobacilli-just as yogurt does. I never knew this before, and now twice in one day!!
I love fortuitousness. :)

Susan, many wise words spoken. I'll add a story about my grandmother. About a month before she died we were having tea and I said to her, "do you know what I figured out Gramma" and she said "what?" and I said between birth and death there is just this one breath". She looked at me and her eyes kind of went "clang, clang, clang, like a cartoon character in a funny way, and then she laughed and she said, "that's true". So, a month later she went travelling and she went off her medication and she fell ill and died but not before 15 family members travelled to be with her and spent the day weaving a net of love that lifted her away. Twice she stood, after hours of nothing but death rattle for breath and announced she was going to her Lord. :)

Only in this breath do we have the opportunity to express our deepest heart, the past is gone, the future is not here. Please do not be too hard on yourself, the fact that your family loves you says much about the person you truly are and not the misery laid on you. :)

Yeah...they are black ants....the kind that arent suppossed to bite.

I thought it was only the red ones that could bite....hmmm...maybe these are red ants in disguise. <_<

Maybe they are upset about the lack of sugary treats in this house....maybe they are upset about the lack of any good food at all in this house.

Maybe as Chelse suggested...they are attracted to the alien baby.

Rinne,

Wow...what a great story to share. I was moved once again by your words. These last two sentences are so true and I'll take your message to heart. Thank you. :)

Goodnite everyone. :)

Nikki-uk-Your hair looks fabulous! Hey, do you watch any of the shows like "Are you being served" and "As Time goes By" oh, and "Keeping Up Appearances"? I watch all the British shows on PBS. I love Miss Marple and all the "Mystery" series. I was wondering if those shows are popular in Britain. My dh and ds make me watch alone, though :( I guess it is because I am 3/4 English and 1/4 Swiss-must be in my genes. :)

Big hair-yeah, I still see a lot of big hair on some of the moms at school functions and I think-yup, I guess they are aged about mid-thirties because of the wonderful 80's influence. :D

Thanks for the compliment Robbin, but I think I'm going to have to drag it back in a ponytail today before it explodes

I love all those shows you mention especially 'Keeping up appearances'-she's such a snob!!

I'm jealous of the chocolate brownie, does that ever sound good about now, ummmmm!

MMMmmmmmm...chocolate brownie..That sounds so good. I have some gluten-free mix in the kitchen and I think I'm going to use it.

MiaMia,

I'm wondering too....hopefully its gotten better??

The tiredness went away after like 2 days- yeah- and I am just moving really slowly with the meds so I stayed a 1 a day for a while and now I am doing 2 a day I think today I will up it one more- I am impatient bbecuase I just want to get better but I know my body is really sensitive so I need to go slowwwwwwww.

I just got back from and extended weekend in Florida. I was really nervous because I have been realy sick lately but I packed all my food - 2big coolers worth.( I hate having to do this) but it was worth it I had no major reactions while I was there- thats better than when I am home. I think becasue I was so careful with what I ate becasue I really didn't want to get sick. God I know I need to be that disceplened here.

Oh by the rachel I have an alien babay I have been using that expression for quite some time - I thought they might detect either it or them (it may be more then one ) when I went through the metal detectors at the airport but alas they snuck through. Tricky little suckers!!!!

MEGAN UPDATE!

WEDNESDAY, JULY 26, 2006 08:21 AM, CDT

Megan had a great night! The cardiologist just came by and his words were, "Perfect!". I asked him if he though the timing was right for her surgery and he replied with another, "Perfect!". Perfect timing is what is what I have prayed for specifically since I first found out about this second surgery. Isn't God good?

She was running a fever after surgery, but that stayed down overnight. They layed her on a cooling blanket that brought it down nicely and have controlled it with Tylenol.

She's in a great deal of pain, of course, but she's been able to go longer and longer without pain medication. They're hoping to pull her off the ventilator this morning. She is waking between doses and seems to recognize us, but is very upset, so she gets more pain medicine and goes back to sleep. She'll probably be a lot happier once they get the breathing tube out of her throat.

We are rejoicing in her progress. Thanks to each of you for your many prayers. Know that it's helping each of us!!!!

I had a very rough month after diagnosis. No exaggeration, lost so much inflammatory weight, I looked like a bag of bones, underneath i had been literally starving to death. I did start feeling noticeably better after a month of very strict control of my kitchen and home. What are you eating for breakfast and lunch? I ignored my doc and ate oats, yes they were gluten free, but some brands are at the higher end of gluten free. Lots of celics can eat Bob's Red Mill gluten-free oats, but not me. I can now eat them, but they have to be grown and processed according to the "purity protocol" methods. I mail order them, Montana Gluten-Free brand. A food and symptoms and activities log can be helpful in tracking down issues. You might be totally aware, but I have to mention about the risk of airborne gluten. As the doc that diagnosed me warned . . Remember eyes, ears, nose, and mouth all lead to your stomach and intestines.  Are you getting any cross contamination? Airborne gluten? Any pets eating gluten (they eat it, lick themselves, you pet them...)? Any house remodeling? We live in an older home, always fixing something. I've gotten glutened from the dust from cutting into plaster walls, possibly also plywood (glues). The suggestions by many here on vitamin supplements also really helped me. I had some lingering allergies and asthma, which are now 99% gone. I was taking Albuterol inhaler every hour just to breathe, but thiamine in form of benfotiamine kicked that down to 1-2 times a day within a few days of starting it. Also, since cutting out inflammatory seed oils (canola, sunflower, grapeseed, etc) and cooking with real olive oil, avocado oil, ghee, and coconut oil, I have noticed even greater improvement overall and haven't used the inhaler in months! It takes time to weed out everything in your life that contains gluten, and it takes awhile to heal and rebuild your health. At first it's mentally exhausting, overwhelming, even obsessive, but it gets better and second nature.

Hi,  I care for my seven year old daughter with Celiac. After watching her for months, I have figured out that she has problem with two kinds of fats- animal fat and cooking oils. It basically makes her intestine sore enough that she feels spasms when she is upset. It only happens on days when she has eaten more fat than her usual every day diet. (Her usual diet has chia seeds, flaxseeds, and avocado/ pumpkin seeds for fat and an occasional chicken breast.) I stopped using cooking oils last year, and when I reintroduced eggs and dairy, both of which I had held off for a few months thinking it was an issue of the protein like some Celiac patients habe mentioned to be the case, she has reacted in the same fashion as she does with excess fats. So now I wonder if her reaction to dairy and eggs is not really because of protein but fat.   I don't really have a question, just wondering if anyone finds this familiar and if it gets better with time.  Thank you.

Hello, My name is Chanda and you are not the only one that gose through the same things. I have found that what's easiest for me is finding a few meals each week that last. I have such severe reactions to gluten that it shuts my entire body down. I struggle everyday with i can't eat enough it feels like, when I eat more I lose more weight. Make sure that you look at medication, vitamins and shampoo and conditioner also. They have different things that are less expensive at Walmart.

Thank you so much! I saw some tips around the forum to make a food diary and now that I know that the community also struggles with corn, egg and soy, the puzzle pieces came together! Just yesterday I tried eating eggs and yes, he’s guilty and charged. Those there are my 3 combo nausea troublemakers. I’m going to adjust my diet ☺️ Also thank you for the information about MCAS! I’m from South America and little it’s talked about it in here. It’s honestly such a game changer now for treatment and recovery. I know I’m free from SIBO and Candida since I’ve been tested for it, but I’m still going to make a endoscopy to test for H. Pylori and Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). Thank you again!! Have a blessed weekend 🤍

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.
