Well i got in with my gp for an appointment tomorrow! Plus my mom is insisting she come with even though i am 21. She thinks i'm not forceful enough which is probably true. any ideas on what tests my gp should do?

If your doc doesn't use IGeneX, you need to call the lab and ask for a test kit to be mailed to you, then take it to your doctor. My doc said I had to go to the lab to be tested, I started crying (out of character for me), so she had her nurse take the blood to be sent in.

That is if you want to be tested for Lyme again.

I would ask for your records of your last Lyme test to see what lab was used and what the results really were.

If you're going in in order to be tested for Lyme, I would wait till you have the kit, but in the meantime ask for the records.

Was your gp ordering a stool test for parasites?? Or was that a different Dr.?? I forgot.

It would be good to be tested for Ghiardia and H. Pylori.

I think Ghiardia would cause lots of diarreah....I dont remember if you have this problem or not??

Is it Monday yet???

I'm super impatient for my Dr. appointment.

Linds....I'm 35 and my mom still insists on doing ALOT of things for me. It doesnt change....your mom will always be your mom no matter how old you are. ;)

If anyone is looking for books on Lyme Disease.....I found these.

I think I might get the first 2 listed.

Oh....I forgot to tell you guys...

At my last Dr. appt. he told me that there are some support groups in my area....he said to let him know if I'm interested and he can give me the info. He said there are several to choose from.

I'm thinking it would be good to meet some other people in my area who are going through the same stuff....but I'm gonna wait until I get more facts about my diagnosis and treatment first.

I'm wondering....if California "doesnt" have Lyme...why are there so many Lyme Dr.'s here...and so many support groups....and so many PEOPLE who have it!

Hi everyone...just popping in....and OMG I have a LOT of reading to do lol. I've seen quite a bit of really impressive Lyme scientificness around here lately. I popped in a couple weeks ago and I thought I needed some sort of Biology Phd or maybe a doctorate or something to understand what was going on  You guys know your stuff. I have faith it will pay off.

I'll be home in a few weeks so hopefully I'll catch up sometime soon. Bye for now :wub:

yep the mayo is in southern minnesota. Actually one of my friends just got hired there today as an RN so she has a job waiting for her there when she graduates in may.

Lymetoo Contributor
They ignore Lyme Disease....thats what my new Dr. told me.

He said I should be angry that this is going on...and that people are suffering needlessly.

Well yeah....I'm really angry about it now. The more I learn...the angrier I get.

Go read the article I just posted about the political mess we're in.

I saw it...my Dr. told me about this at my last visit. He said as of right now its not a felony to provide more than 21 days of antibiotics....but it is REALLY REALLY frowned upon.

Its scary.

there are three mayo clinics: minnesota, arizona, and florida.

Donna, in Grand Cayman, go swim with the sting rays if you have the opportunity ... very cool!! If not, at least go snorkeling, it's KNOWN for the great scuba diving and snorkeling. I've also been snorkeling in Cozumel, but I think Grand Cayman was the better of the two places for it. There's not much else to see at Grand Cayman except for the beautiful beaches. And watch out, after sunset the mosquitos come out for their feast!! Hopefully, you'll be back on the ship for that!

Have a wonderful time!!

Disney is great, too. I love the Rockin' Roller Coaster at MGM, and the Tower of Terror -- I had to face my fear of elevators at the Tower of Terror, LOL.

Well, I actually don't know how to swim, lol.:ph34r: I forget what we're doing in Grand Cayman and Cozumel, but we've been to both places and I'd almost rather stay on the ship and sleep in, lol. Not that I don't like either place, it's just that I'm so tired lately and I've already been there, and I'll probably be there again since almost every caribbean cruise goes there, lol. My friend is being really great about all my health problems and said if we have to cancel any of the excursions we can...I'm thinking I might.

Yep, Disney...LOVE the scarey roller coaster type things. :P

Well the Mayo Clinic sucks for not acknowledging Lyme. :P

Same with Stanford here in Ca.

Definitely the whole-shebang stool testing thing...the one with all the vials, lol. It's icky to do, but that's where they look for all the parasites...I'm still waiting for mine to come back. In the one I had done in February, I also had to give them a sample (in a margerine-type container that they provided), but didn't have to do that for the one I just did.

I think I might get the first 2 listed.

I bookmarked the page here at home for future reference...and yep, makes you wonder why support groups and specialists would be needed in an area which supposedly doesn't have any Lyme! Also making mental (like that will do any good, lol) about support groups for future reference.

Hi Mango!!! It'll be good to have you home, lol!

Oh, and about the mom thing, lol...I'm 51 and my mom still worries about me! It's true, a mom never stops worrying and wanting to do stuff for you.

Well, had my appointment with the mercury dentist today for my permanent crown for the last quandrant he did. I'm not having any more done until January...new insurance kicks in and I have a reloaded Flexible Spending Account, lol.

Oh, and Lymetoo, I saw your post on the "antibiotic" thread about herxing from antibiotics, and it made me think...I have a problem with a lot of antibiotics...nothing serious, but usually feel slightly nauseated, dizzy and most of the time get diarrhea...now I'm wondering if it isn't just a little herxing going on, lol. I haven't been tested for Lyme yet, but have TONS of the symptoms and have had some exposure to some of the areas where it is more prevelant.

Hello and goodnight to everyone else. It's going to be 28 degrees here tonight, I am crawling into my heated bed with magazines and stupid TV - - - - well, you all know my evening routine. :) How sad, this is my favorite part of the day.

Love to you all......

OMG SEVEN???? And I am whining about 28?:huh: We just can't handle it here in California. We are shocked when the temp hits freezing.....big babies. OF course, they have to keep the oranges and other citrus warm with all kinds of methods....I do feel sorry for the farmers now. I once dated an orange farmer during the winter......he was a bit stressed. You know, a nice guy. Maybe I should call him...... This was right before the Siege of Terror hit, in 2004......do you think he was the CAUSE of the siege?:huh::lol:

Ya never know. It MIGHT have been yeast rearing its ugly head, but could also be herxing.

How long did you suffer from candida?

I Was also just curious before you were diagnosed for lyme what were your major complaints- major symptoms? I was also wondering how you are feeling now and what kind of diet you follow now

Thanks

Hello everyone!

Sorry you got glutened, Laura.

Donna, have a great time! Even though you can't swim, you can still go see the sting rays, you can stand in the water, it's not deep. Just be sure you wear a life jacket on the boat!!

Andrea, I guess it'll take a while for you to rest up from the trip. I remember when the kids were younger how much time it took to get rested up when you can't even sleep through the night. You will sleep again, I promise!! Once they're teenagers, you have to wake them up!!

It's warm here today, 66. A cold front is coming in though. This is unseasonably warm for us. We'll be in the 30's soon. Adam is my feet warmer. :) He loves the winter time because I sleep right next to him!

To play it safe, use Vasoline Lip Therapy. No questions as to it containing gluten.

jmartes, Thank you for sharing  more information with us. Most of us Celiacs whose problems do not clear up with in a few years have to decide what to do next. We can keep seeing DR.s and hope that we will get some  medication or advice that will improve our health. Or we can go looking for other ways to improve our health. Usually Celiac Disease is not a killer disease, it is a disabling disease as  you have found out. You have time to find some ways to help you recover. Stay on your gluten-free diet and be more careful in avoiding cross contamination . KnittyKitty  and others here can give you advice about avoiding some foods that can give you the gluten auto immune reaction and advice about vitamins and supplement that help celiacs. You may need to take higher doses of Vit. B12  and D3.  About 20 years before a Dr. suggested I might have Celiac disease I had health problems that all other Dr said they could not identify or treat. I was very opposed to alternative providers and treatments. So many people were getting help from a local healer I decided to try that out. It was a little helpful but then, because I had a good education in medical laboraties she gave me a book  to read and what did I think. With great skeptism I started reading and before I was half way through it I began using the methods outlined in the book. Using those herbs and supplements I went from hardly able to work to being able to work almost fulltime. I still use that program. But because I had undiagnosed celiac disease by 10 years later some  of my problems returned and I started to loose weight.    So how does a person find a program that will benefit them? Among the programs you can find online there are many that are snake oil scams and some that will be beneficial. by asking around, as I did. Is there an ND in your area? Do they reccomend that person? If you would like to read about the program I use go to www.drclark.net
    • Scott Adams
It's unfortunate that they won't work with you on this, but in the end sometimes we have to take charge of our own health--which is exactly what happened to me. I did finally get the tests done, but only after years of going down various rabbit holes and suffering. Just quitting gluten may be the best path for you at this point.

My doctor didn't take the time to listen to anything. I don't even think she knows what it means. She is more concerned about my blood pressure that is caused by her presence than anything else and just wants to push pills at me. The so-called dermatologist wouldn't do a skin test. she prescribed all of these silly antihistamine skin meds. This lady didn't even know what she was talking about and said "they never turn out as celiac, they usually just say it's dermatitis so here's your meds," just like my regular quack. I'm trying to change insurance companies at the moment and that has been a battle because of red tape, wrong turns, and workers having wrong phone numbers. What a joke! The allergy blood days say I have a wheat allergy of .31. Hopefully it's just that and until I find a decent doctor and dermatologist, I'll just lay off the wheat anyway, since it gives me asthma, high blood sugar, and joint pain. So frustrated at this point. The rash on my back of arms/elbows is mostly gone. Both calves and chest have started up. smh. It comes and goes. It fades faster now, though, although my forearms still produce one or two bumps on each side. The itching has calmed down a lot except for the bump area. I have dry skin to begin with so anything affecting it just makes it crazy. i'm never going to eat wheat again. I don't care if they need it to produce results or if it is just an intolerance, allergy, or celiac. It gives me hell.

I had the test done by one of the specialist through second pcp I had only a few months because he was saying I wasn't.Even though Im positive HLA-DQ2 .My celiac is down played.I am with new pcp, seeing another girl doctor who wants to do another breathe test next month though Im positive sibo this year.I have high blood pressure not sure if its pain from sciatica or sibo, ibs or hidden gluten. Im in disability limbo and I should have never been a bus driver because im still suffering and trying to heal with zero income except for my husband. This isnt fare that my health is dictating my living and having ti beg for being revalidation of my disregarded celiac disease. Its an emotional roller coaster I don't want to be on and the medical made it worse.New pcp new gi, exhausted, tired and really fed up. GI doctor NOT girl..
