Oh....about the DMPS challenge tests. Dr. S. said the pattern is usually that of a bell curve.

The first challenges are low and then mercury starts going up...it peaks and then starts coming back down. Its exactly the same as how Dr. K. describes the results of hair analysis during chelation.

Dr. S. said he had a patient who did a provoked urine test with every single DMPS IV she had. She mapped out her results and in the end the results did show a perfect bell curve.

I dont think it would be affordable for me to test with every treatment but I think I could probably do it once every other treatment. I'm thinking about it just so that I can get a better picture of whats going on. It would be interesting.

So these were the metals that were pulled....in order of highest to lowest.

Tungsten

Mercury

Antimony

Nickel

Cadmium

Lead

Thalliuim

Arsenic

Tin

I have no idea what Tungsten is but he said its not a concern...we're mainly concerned with mercury, cadmium, lead....the more toxic metals that are coming out.

Aluminum did not show up but I suspect that it will eventually.

My hair analysis (2004) showed elevated Cadmium, Antimony and Bismuth.

The Bismuth did not show up on this test.

Cadmium and Mercury together create alot of toxicity due to the synergistic effects. Cadmium has always showed up in everything for me. I'm thinking these two in particular have caused alot of the toxicity. The cadmium would have come mainly from smoking. :(

As for the essential elements...I'm very low in calcium and selenium.

Selenium is critical for detoxing mercury. If I'm remembering correctly its one of the minerals to supplement in order to compete with mercury in the cells...it will bump the mercury out as the cells will trade the mercury for the selenium. So I need to supplement more of this.

I've been taking large doses of calcium the past couple weeks as a part of the Low Oxalate Diet but I hadnt started this at the time of my testing.

Interestingly on the report it lists causes for low calcium and oxalates are mentioned....the explanation is...

Excessive oxalates...which may form insoluable calcium salts in the intestine.

Other causes...

Insufficient dietary intake

Insufficient gastric acidification

Inadequate vitamin D

Excessive phosphates, oxalates or phytates

Intestinal absorption of calcium is also hindered in cases nof lipid malabsorption

Undigested fats can form insoluable calcium compounds

A very low protein diet or an overly alkaline intestine can result in poor calcium intake

Insufficient acidophilic flora can impair calcium intake

So alot of things could be a cause for me...the oxalates do seem to a problem based on my response to those foods. I eat very high protein (meat)...anyone know if thats a good source of calcium or could the problem be dietary intake??

My copper levels were off the page but I'm not really concerned with that. I already know that DMPS preferentially pulls copper first. The report mentioned that the elevated copper can be secondary to provactive challenge with DMPS or DMSA.

Vitamin C can also elevate the copper but I did not have any with my DMPS push.

If anyone remembers from my post long ago (from Klinghardts interview) it was mentioned that Lyme elevates copper and many times copper toxicity is falsely diagnosed.

It does mention in the report that bacteria or other infections can cause increased urinary copper.

TS,

I'm gald that you got an answer for your ongoing health problems.

I think Carla said it all very well.

Its such a huge relief to finally *know* what is causing so much pain and suffering but at the same time it can be quite overwhelming.

The more you learn the more "in charge" you will feel. You will do fine and your kids will learn from your courage and determination. :)

We will always be here for support. :)

Rachel--good to see you again! I was wondering what happened to you--until I saw Andrea's update.

Good to see you too Patti! :)

I hope you are settling into your new home and loving it. :)

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Andrea..this is from an older post that I never got a chance to respond to but I'm no longer taking compounded thyroid meds. I only tried it briefly at the beginning of this thread to try the "corn-free" thing.

The compounded thyroid was costly and my labs indicated that a higher dose was needed after swiching to the compounded stuff. I went back to the uncompounded Armour a long time ago....its only $10 for me.

ROTFLMAO! You never noticed that closet, or were you afraid to look in it?

I knew it was there .... I had no need to look in it and try to avoid the areas of the house I haven't organized yet .... if you came to my house, aside from the fact that it's in shambles because of the kitchen remodel, you would think it was all organized ... but it's all superficial ... the stuff we use on a daily basis and the living areas are organized, but I haven't gotten to the stuff I don't look at every day, so I just don't look at it!

I normally am very organized, know where everything is, and Adam will joke about living in a model home .... but I haven't been able to get this house to that point yet. It will come ... I feel it .... :D I will know I'm better when I consider my house to be clean and organized.

Rachel, I'm glad you're moving forward with the chelation, we've been waiting for a long time for you to get to this point!

There are sugar-free gluten-free apple pies at Wild Oats ..... the chocolate one is not good, btw, but the apple was! Not for every day, of course, as it's still loaded with stuff you probably shouldn't be having, but it might be nice over the holidays.

Donna...I'm pretty excited but at the same time I try not to get too excited....its still not a fun process to go through but at least I'm finally THERE!! :)

I'm pretty excited too if you couldn't tell from talking to you last night. :D

I think I'd choose to forgo the goodies to start treatments earlier too.

For two of the children the Nickel Cadmium group came up on their last ASYRA. I'm thinking the cadmium is from what was in my body (and Mitch's if that's possible). Both of our parents smoked.

My mom's home is like that.

I think you'll be there soon. You've made so much improvement since you started treatment. :)

Anyone else here, besides Sherry, have elevated liver enzymes?

AndreaB Contributor
Anyone else here, besides Sherry, have elevated liver enzymes?

I did before my last pregnancy. They went down on there own. I was tested again the last trimester. I don't know if it was gluten or what. They chalked it up to fatty liver because they couldn't find anything else wrong. Haven't been tested since Seth was born though.

For me I suppose it could have been metals which Seth would have taken to lessen the burden and bring them back down.

I don't know what the numbers were though. I think they were AST and AL something. I'd have to see if I still have any of the stuff I had looked up at the time.

Anyone else here, besides Sherry, have elevated liver enzymes?

I had elevated liver enzymes sometime early last year. It was shortly after I took a couple weeks of Metronidazole for C. Diff that showed up in a stool test.

It was believed that the liver enzymes were elevated because I'd been on the abx...they retested and they were no longer elevated.

Jin,

It is possible I have an enzyme deficiency, but I think a lot of people go through this with raw and cooked foods.

Carla,

So we got a packet from the LLMD's office with forms and info packets. They ask us to write the reffering physician's name and info. My concern is I haven't been in touch much with my GCP. Should I still put his name on the paper? They won't see us unless we have a Doctor's name. What did you do about this?

Donna,

Yes. I am eating nuts...almonds are okay so far. Thank goodness!!

Rachel,

Congrats on the chelation. :) Glad you're back online too...it was really quiet.

Everyone,

So today I went to the mall to get some new clothes (it's been a LONG time...lol) and I came home and was dead to the world!!! I was so tired...now I remember why I don't go clothes shopping anymore! I used to go almost 2-3 times a month!!! :o:lol: I got a couple new shirts for really cheap! And they are really cute!! :P I also got a pedicure which was really nice! I have really cute pink toe nails!! :D

I am seemingly getting worse and worse as the days are going by. I am SO tired it is ridiculous! My hematologist said it's okay for me to go to Northern CA as long as I feel up to it. I have no idea when they are going to get my PICC line. I am really nervous about that though. I already have a terrible bruise just from the blood draw yesterday because my veins are so sensitive. :(

The days of making my bed are LONG gone. I have been so tired, getting dressed is a hard task.

Have you gotten your Humaworm yet? I know you ordered it. When should it arrive? I am curious about how well it works. I will keep it in mind for future use.

I have not heard of that lab. It sounds interesting, though. Pinpointing where the actual trouble is can be difficult. If this lab could do that, it would be amazing! Testing is probably expensive, though.

You can use witch hazel to decongest? Thank you for the tips! Those might come in handy this year. Cold season is upon us. I hope to avoid colds, but I do have the elderberry extract as a back-up plan.

Hi Jin,

I did order the Humaworm and I haven't heard from them yet as to when it will be shipped, I expect a confirmation e-mail soon though.

The lab is actually called Immunosciences Lab, Inc.:

I am going to have some additional tests run through them soon, not sure which ones though.

I am not sure about Witch Hazel being a decongestant....my book says applying the Witch Hazel compress/pack to the chest stimulates circulation to the lungs and surrounding area, which promotes healing. So it can help indirectly with cough, infection in that area, etc.

Kassandra,

Are you saying I talk alot??:lol:

Do you know when you're coming up here to see the LLMD yet??

By the way...just thought I'd let everyone know I spoke to Lisa. Shes doing about the same and hopefully at some point she can get the $$ to see a good Dr. I think shes trying to see if she qualifies for disability.

I wrote down my doctor's name and contact information. They send her updates after each appt. This goes to the one who said I had Somatization Disorder ... I have not seen nor spoken with her since the day she said I did not have Lyme and had the positive test, but she does get the information and I do still use her name.

They need you to have a local doctor and a PCP. It's for legal purposes ... even if you never see your PCP, they still need you to have a local doctor. They need to know someone is where you are to take care of you in the event of an emergency.

Julie, my son has been taking Humaworm for kids for about a week now. I asked if he noticed anything different about his BM's and he said, "Yeah, they're big and green!" He has since told me about stuff he's seen, but nothing that looks like a worm.

I started taking mine two days ago ... nothing yet.

Rachel--24 Collaborator

I'm going to start using the SpiceShip again. B)

My Dr. wants me to do them again...as long as its not too close to the days I go in for DMPS.

YAY...you guys know I'll be in there all winter if I can. :D

I am not liking the weather changes.

Kassandra,

I LOVE shopping...its all the freakin chemicals that end up getting to me. My favorite store is the WORST...everything in the store is sprayed with perfume.

You would think that would be enough to keep me out.....but nooooo.

Everything I buy there I have to wash like 10 times before I can actually wear it. It really sucks! I dont think my clothes should come with bonus chemicals all over them!

But yeah....I still go in there and buy stuff....and then I go through a whole container of detergent before I can actually wear my new stuff.

I hope this situation improves with detox.

Errrr. Duplicate post, but I'm leaving it!

Rachel, yeah, she was right in a way, it IS in my head ... the only thing is, it's bacteria in my head! But that woman is getting a good dose of training in chronic Lyme treatment. She truly wants people to get better, so maybe she'll take it to heart.

Actually its already got that "distressed" look....you know like $100 for jeans with holes in them.

So yeah...my new "worn" stuff looks even more worn.

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind
