So, maybe before xmas but probably over xmas! It'd be great to see you in person! (they'll all be soooooooo jealous of me heehee) I'll make to sure to bring up scheduling a visit once I'm looking at flight dates. (Uh-oh I should DO that)

My schedule is pretty flexible.

I too am VERY thankful for everyone's help on this thread! I agree with Rachel, it is like we all know each other. It is really such an amazing thing. :) If it wasn't for this site, I would still be really sick and would accept stupid diagnoses like "IBS". Thanks again to everyone! :wub:You all are AMAZING!

That's why this thread is still alive. We've all formed a bond, but are still here to help new people that jump in with health concerns that haven't improved going gluten (and other foods) free.

:wub::wub::wub:

For your LLMD's sake, I'd keep a record of your symptoms because if you herx with antibiotics that will help his/her clinical diagnosis.

Great point! I was thinking it sounded kindof herxish.......but I've not had a personal experience with that.

Tom, I'm going to be very close to Andrea too... when I am in the USA. Andrea, I am hoping we can meet face to face too!

I'd like that. :D

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! :)

I just had to check in and say happy Thanksgiving to my 2nd family!!!!!!!!!

I love you guys

Thanksgiving wishes all around. :D

Carla,

I am thinking about trying that humaworm too!

Also, a funny story for you...my neighbor called me to ask for a corkscrew and I thought it was you. I got really confused and thought Carla wouldn't call me asking me for a corkscrew...lol! She sounded EXACTLY like you! LOL!!! My silly Lyme brain!!!

After trying the Humaworm, I'm doing it at least twice per year just as they recommend. The earliest you can do it again is 90 days ... so I'll do it again in 90 days, then every six months after that. I saw more worm today. This was one BIG worm! I'd estimate that I've SEEN 6 feet! :o And I didn't spend much time looking.

Everyone,

I realized that if I am going to have a reaction to these abx, apparently they don't usually happen right away. I think the amoxicilin was one I reacted to withing 30 minutes of taking (when I was 2 years old) but the others took a day or two for me to break out in full body hives/welts. So, I am not getting too excited at the possibility of not being allergic to this abx either. We'll see what happens over the next couple days.

Kassandra

It sounds more like a herx than an allergic reaction. I read about the abx you are on, and it supposedly stays in the digestive tract, so you must have a lot of spirochetes there for it to cause a herx .... but that's just what I'm thinking. Take notes and tell your LLMD about it ... all this is valuable diagnostic information.

You would hate to have me living in your house!!

I dont listen to heavy metal (yuck!) and the country music is minimal...but music is always playing....and very LOUDLY. Lots of spanish stuff. :D

Some music I like, but heavy metal, hip hop, and country is out. My house is generally noisy, of course, so I don't like it so much at home ... I listen to soft music during my sauna and ecoffee .... I listen to music in the car. I like Spanish music! I could easily move to Mexico .... I love the culture. I lived there for a summer and went to school. :) I still understand Spanish and can speak enough to get by .... used to be almost fluent.

Anyway, the Spanish music wouldn't bother me ... except maybe the volume!

Wow....all of you guys have been a part of my life for so long now. We truelly "know" each other...or at least it feels that way to me. :)

I am soooooo very thankful for everyone here.:wub:

Me, too.

Kassandra, I think Carla finds the lemon water helps with herxes. Lots of water to flush toxins.

Yes, takes away that toxic feeling. I still have the fatigue and aches, but feel less toxic. Epsom salt baths help with the aches.

Also, for me, the e-coffee is the biggest help but you might not be ready for that.

HUGE help. My kids don't even tease me about it it's so obvious it helps. When I felt really bad, they'd even come to me and offer to make coffee because they knew it would make me feel better. I still do them daily.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

confusedks Enthusiast

Everyone,

I think I need to take something because suddenly I am really constipated. That can't be a good thing when trying to rid my body of toxins. I will start taking something.

Also, I am going to start taking charcoal because I think it's important to get the toxic stuff out of my body. I will also experiment with lemon water and the baths. I used to take epsom salt baths all the time when I was little, but they started to make me feel worse, so I stopped taking them. I wonder if they were just too strong for my body...how much do you all put in your baths?

I am feeling pretty decent today...maybe about 50% (to steal Carla's system...lol!) which sounds bad, but it;s better than the 20% I have been feeling the past couple weeks.

Carla,

Your kids sound so sweet...I don't think I would ever offer to make my mom coffee for an enema!! I am also thinking that they were herxes when I was little too. Because I always thought a true allergic reaction would happen in a short amount of time of taking the abx, but the Doctor's always said that it was because I got too much in my system it would react. Do people break out in hives from herxes?

I am going to ask my mom to order the humaworm for me...since she is interested in "herbal" things, she may go for it!

Sherry,

That is interesting because the Dr. said after about 5-7 days I should suddenly start to feel way better. There should be a noticeable improvement. I wonder how many patients have Lyme and she doesn't ever test for it?

I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving!

Kassandra

mftnchn Explorer

Kassandra, I am thinking that if it isn't a herx, you'd have the same symptoms you have had for awhile, but then after 5-7 days see improvement.

It depends on the organism(s) that you have in the gut. You might try a google search with the name of your antibiotic and lyme or one of the lyme organisms and see what comes up. Also if you have the name of the disease your doctor thinks you have, try googling that with the antibiotic and see if you can find the organism. See if that organism is associated with "herxheimer" responses.

You know what though? Wouldn't it be cool if she is RIGHT? and a 10 day course of antibiotics would clear this up?

Of course this Rachelville detective agency might be surprised, but we like nice surprises.

mftnchn Explorer

Carla, LOL....nobody's offered to make my e-coffee! But I agree, its like night and day without it, and I still do it daily too at least since the lyme recurrence earlier this year.

Sometimes when I really am symptomatic, after the e-coffee I really feel light-headed and spacy, even tingly all over, then it passes and I feel much better and clearer. I associate it with the sudden let-down of bile and liver toxins but am not sure.

It can tip me up the feeling better scale by 15-30%, some days maybe even more.

If you can handle flax that works for some people. I don't remember if you tolerated vit C very well or not.

I'm thinking herx........but yes the Rachelville detective agency would be surprised if everything cleared up. With the bull's eye rash I'm highly doubtful though.

I use two cups.

You can use the epsom salts for constipation, too. I've never done it, but I read about it on the container.

I was thinking today about how sick I was last Thanksgiving .... such an improvement. I still didn't know I had Lyme at that point ... I found out Dec. 6th, so I must have taken the IGeneX test and have been waiting on the results.

I think you would offer to make your mom coffee if she looked and acted noticeably better with it. :)

Carla, LOL....nobody's offered to make my e-coffee!

Yeah, but everything else is made for you, so I don't feel sorry for you!!!

I feel the same way. Sometimes it makes me feel like I've taken some kind of "upper" temporarily ... I generally take chlorella if I feel worse from it .... but overall I feel better after it passes.

Kassandra, I forgot to say that hives sounds more like an allergic reaction to me.

Me, too.

Do you take this stuff for a week?

A month.

I hope everyone in the US just had a wonderful thanksgiving. :D I think I've gotten of non-glutened from the neighbor's house (brought my own food, though) and most likely non-food poisoned (turkey wasn't exactly done, the microwave ended up helping up with it <_<).

Kassandra,

That sounds a lot like a herx! Funny thing is recording the symptoms you're having now will probably give you a far better idea of what you're dealing with than the test the dr originally ordered. I've found that lemon water's helped me when I feel "icky." Just as long as I use enough water... trying to overdo it and push my body to far, as usual. :eyeroll:

    You guys are wonderful, and so kind. I just wish I had found this place sooner.

Okay, I'm going to do a little experiment re this worm thing. Besides the garlic, I am going to try a big dose of ground up pumpkin seeds (very common here), 60-120 gram in water. And then I am going to try three days of just eating pineapple primarily, with just some more pumpkin seeds and some figs perhaps. I figure this can't hurt me any.

This is all supposed to help naturally get rid of these pesties. I figure it might be enough to see if this if a problem!

I read that you need to do a minimum of 3 days on the pineapple and up to 10 days.

mftnchn Explorer

Andrea, since you like garlic...

The humaworm site says this about the benefits of garlic:

GARLIC - Garlic can slow and kill, more than sixty types of fungi and twenty types of bacteria, including some of the most potent viruses known to man. Garlic alone can help in controlling parasites. Garlic has a history of being able to kill parasites and control secondary fungal infections; detoxify and gently stimulate elimination; it also has antioxidant properties to protect against oxidation caused by parasites' toxins. Allicin and Ajoene, are the components in Garlic that kill parasites including the one-cell varaties as well as pinworms and hookworms. Garlic has antimicrobial activities (including anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-protozoal, and anti-parasitic) that kills: B. subtilis, E. coli, P. mirabilis, Salmonella typhi, methicillin-resistant Staph aureus, Staph faecalis, salmonella enteritidis, and V. cholerae ,staphylococcus, Escherichia, Proteus, Salmonella, Providencia, Citrobacter, Klebsiella, Hafnia, Aeromonas, Vibrio and Bacillus genera. Garlic is also very effective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Garlic also kills Microsporum, Epidermophyton, Trichophyton, Rhodotorula, Torulopsis, Trichosporon, Cryptococcus neoformans, and Candida, including Candida albicans. Garlic also has anti-amoebic and anti-protozoan properties and is especially effective against Entamoeba histolytica and Paramecium caudatum.

The humaworm site says this about the benefits of garlic:

BTW you have to crush the garlic (or chew  ) to activate it.

I assume I need to buy the fresh garlic......haven't had fresh garlic for awhile. Someone came up intolerant to it.....maybe two someones. I'm know T was one.

I'm one of those that would always hate washing my hands after cutting and peeling garlic because I love the smell of it.

mftnchn Explorer

Yeah, fresh. You can buy garlic preparations, but of course the fresh will be cheaper.

The taste stays with you for awhile, even just gulping it down like I do!

Good luck with that! I think the Humaworm is easier ... :P

I took Kyolic garlic for years and years. I took the one with astragalus. The interesting thing is that both herbs are supposed to be beneficial for someone with Lyme.

I still had Citrobacter and Klebsiella though. Both bacteria are on the list .... maybe it's because it wasn't fresh garlic.

ami27 Apprentice

Hi everyone. I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving yesterday. I would like to add my appreciation to this wonderful group of people  I feel like I have learned and benefited so much from my short time here.

ShadowSwallow Newbie
Are you saying you got food poisened? :o

Nope, it looks like we all escaped! The turkey was a little pink, though, and I had some from the outside and felt slightly queezy later (I'm suspecting a sip of decaf coke had more to do with than than anything else), so I was suspicious.

Can't wait to hear if you see any results from this.

Today I saw my naturopath, and at this point we're working on trying to solve an arthropodic parasite problem in my intestines. (No other parasites are showing up, though.) The only problem is that just about everything has Black Walnut Oil in it, and I am testing extremely weak to that due to my severe allergy to walnuts. At this point it looks like I'm going to be bringing in the Humaworm ingredient list and we're going to see if we can come up with something that will be effective.

We ended up in a bit of an argument over whether I should use antibiotics for Lyme. She knows next to nothing about Lyme and is of the opinion that herbal remedies will be enough. I'd love it if they could be enough, but it looks they won't quite cut it in the long run. I had to keep asking her to test me for a probiotic to help my insides heal in preparation for the antibiotics (and I just feel like I really, really, really need a probiotic now). It's the first time we've ever disagreed about something....

I also found out that I'm having sensitivities to dairy after testing fine to it for months. But all of that food with butter and milk in it I made for Thanksgiving is proving just too tempting.

She also did a mini field-balancing treatment that kills bacteria and parasites, and I'm pretty sure I'm herxing from it. My mind is completely out to lunch! It improved a little after I had some water and vitamin C. It's either me herxing or me being sensitive to EMFs, which is a strong possibility.

mftnchn Explorer
Did she know what you were using it for?:lol:

Yes, LOL. There is very little secret from her--she sees into all the nooks and crannies of our lives!

Carla---yep the humaworm would be easier, just hard to get for me now. Thought I'd try this--might relieve some of the parasitic load at least.

Birdy, sorry it wasn't so pleasant, but way to go for standing up for your own wellness and treatment! Maybe it will challenge her to research.

I'm sorry for the disagreement. :( I think that's not all uncommon and hope she realizes different people need different things.

BTW you have to crush the garlic (or chew  ) to activate it.

Sherry,

I used to eat massive amounts of raw garlic a couple years back...while doing the anti-candida diet.

I chewed it and swallowed. I reeked like garlic 24/7.

I had some bad reactions to it sometimes and was assuming it was die-off.

I think it was more than likely moving mercury around...plus I seem to not do well with too much sulfur anyway. I was worried about this with the DMPS but so far no problems with the low dose. We'll see what happens when it increases. It could be that I'm not having bad symptoms because the IV bypasses the gut...or because the DMPS has a strong bond with mercury....whereas garlic is a weak chelator and moves it around.

I used to also take Kyolic garlic capsules and earlier this year I was taking aged garlic extract (Kyolic). My ART practitioner told me to leave that alone for now because of the high sulfur content and the metals.

mftnchn Explorer

Interesting, well its an experiment for me anyway. I am not sure where I am at with the mercury right now--hopefully I am excreting!

Rachel--24 Collaborator

I'm on vacation now. :)

OMG...yesterday was the first time I didnt come home for lunch! I had lunch at work....with everyone else....like a "normal" person! :o

We had some stuff out for Thanksgivivng. I thought I would "try" the meat...which was a roast. I passed up on the ham but ended up eating a few pieces of the roast. :)

The roast had spices and all that.....my face did burn a little from it....not that I was deterred. ;)

Then I moved on to the pumpkin pie (3 slices). :D

No whip cream this time.

I even had a tiny bit of macaroni salad! :o

I was only gonna taste a little meat but ended up making a meal of it....so I was like "Guess I dont need to go home for lunch today". YAY! :)

So my face burned a little and then my body temp went WAY down for about 45 minutes..and then I got better. I felt fine after that but of course I lost some weight from it....woke up feeling kinda skinny today. <_<

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. @catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind
