Right now, I'm going through the whole chicken/egg thing. Did the low iron cause the thyroid problems? Did the various food intolerances cause the low iron? Was it the food intolerances or the thyroid problems that caused the heavy menses that led to the low iron? Did the mercury cause the food intolerances? Was it my diet or the thyroid that's causing the cysts? Round and round it goes....

I would guess the mercury was behind the food intolerances. Everything seems to be connected somehow but I'd have no idea how to put the pieces together.

I got a blaylock article recently that talks about the cancer cells and something that helps them from spreading so much......I'll see if I can find the info today.

Hi everyone, I am so behind I am not even going to try to catch up.:)

All's well with me, I am doing so much better and I am amazed by that, a year ago I was in so much pain all the time that I had forgotten what "better" felt like and I had nearly given up on ever feeling better.

It's good to see you Rinne! You need to pop in once in awhile (like you do) so we know you are ok. :D

Unless I'm confused and you never had those positive tests??

I thought her tests were positive. Maybe she wants to see if any of the bands have changed. She also had a low cd57.

Is that suppossed to happen?? I'm still a toothpick. :(

Some people obviously remain sticks......not me. I take after my grandmother more as far as body build.

Oh yeah....I had forgotten about the CD57 results.

I'm not sure if chelation would cause IND's or previously negative bands to become positive but I think its possible. I would imagine that chelation is stirring up the infections and the immune system might be more *aware*....and also more capable of fighting as the heavy metal load is reduced.

I think its likely to change the Western Blots....there was already alot of positive bands...but there might be more now.

Here's some things from one newsletter of Blaylocks.

Ugh, the results won't be in until tomorrow! GRR. The PICC line is a little more involved than we thought. We have to have it put in at a place that's right next door to a hospital so in case anything goes wrong, we'd be right next door. They also have to draw more blood to see my blood's clotting ability, so I don't bleed out...lol! Once the Dr. who is going to put it in gets the bloodwork back, we will make an appt. to get it in, THEN we will start the IV's. OMG, this is taking forever!!!

I knew this would happen, here it is Thursday and I don't know when we are going to start the IV's. I got into a fight with my mom about all of this last week because she "didn't feel like calling" and now we an entire month after the first time I had blood drawn!

I will know more in a couple hours, but then my mom has to go to work, so it's really hard to coordinate all of this. I wish she would let me do it, it would have been done weeks ago. LOL!

Kassandra,

I'm so sorry this is going to be delayed even more. :(

I've got to get lunch for the starving pack......I'll be back in a bit.

.....

Yeah...I had this type of ultrasound done last year. You guys recall the alien baby??

NOT FUN!!!! I did not like this procedure one bit!

Is that suppossed to happen?? I'm still a toothpick. :(

Nice to see you too Rachel. :)

I am thinking the toothpick look is quite likely connected to a deficiency of pink, I am quite confident that if you add enough pink that will change.:P

EEK! The specifics of this ultrasound are what? I am telling you I think there is something seriously twisted going on, like whose idea was this? I feel the same way about mammograms and had avoided one until I found the lump in my breast. Silly me, I thought that if you could feel the lump you wouldn't need to take a picture of it. So, that was and will be my only mammogram.

I have to laugh when I think of it though, I don't know if you remember but at the time I was seeing the acupuncterist and he was saying, "no cancer" and all the conventional medical folks were like, "cancer, cancer, cancer....." I remember feeling like I had one foot on the road to healing and that the other foot was still in the world of conventional medicine which offered nothing but misery. Hah, I got away.

Yes, it is wonderful that so many of us are now feeling better. I think this place, in so many ways, is one big reason for that.

...

By next year we'll all be ready for a Rachelville gathering!! With plenty of Rinne Bars of course. ;)

I am seriously optimistic about this. :)

Some people obviously remain sticks......not me. I take after my grandmother more as far as body build.

Me either, I am a round person and have put on a few more pounds recently that I would be happier without, funny though I am grateful now to have the pounds after being as thin as I was. A friend told me the other day that at my sickest I had looked like a zipper!!!

Nice to see you Andrea. :) I am always so glad to find you here and appreciate how much you do to mother us along.

melmak, my gyno has always said probiotics can also be applied vaginally, or yogurt packs.

nyxie, sorry about your dr. issues.

April, the early puberty is alarming. I have to agree with what everyone else said about the hormones in the milk and meat, estrogens in plastic, but also it's just estrogens in general EVERYWHERE. One of my practitioners was on the environmental board here for the northern region of the state and the results of water testing is quite shocking, high estrogen levels are present, they even found high levels of prozac :o These are things that aren't efficiently filtered out.

Carla, that's awesome about your son! Is this the son you've had so much difficulty with? I hope this mission will give him a different outlook on life and fill him with purpose.

My boyfriend is fluent in Spanish. I can understand it pretty well, I just am not good with using it in conversation, my brain/tongue connection is just faulty, disconnected wire or something.

Gosh Kass, these iron IVs have been a royal pain in the behind...and you haven't even started them yet! I hope you get it all worked out and coordinated.

Andrea, great info, thanks for posting.

Donna, that is cruel of your friend  Maybe she is trying to break you so you will go to

Rachel, if you are detoxing out smoke and junk from the cigarrettes I would think that is a super good sign, you're excreting and detoxing and getting healthy :D

I'm glad you are feeling good and cheerful. I also have bitten by the holiday spirit bug, even thought I feel like poop, not even pink sparkly poop.

Rinne, so good to hear you are feeling so wonderful too :D

Patti, I do not know the source of Vitamin E, sorry I can't be of more help.

Rachel,

Thanks for sharing your quit-smoking story! :D My mom quit shortly before she was diagnosed with Celiac-- like you, she had gotten to the point where they just made her really sick. Once she was diagnosed and started getting better, she refused to pick the habit back up.

On the young puberty age thing...... I started developing when I was 8. Hips, breasts, hair, etc. But my period didn't start until I was 13. I was actually the last of my friends to get it. Odd.

Ironically, I am a little concerned about Lucas for the opposite problem. I didn't used to worry about it, until I read all the bad things about feeding baby boys soy formula. Lucas was on soy formula until shortly after his 1st b-day-- he couldn't tolerate cow's milk or milk based formulas when he was a baby, although he is fine with dairy now.

Now I've read that baby boys who are fed soy formula are more likely to have problems developing LATE because of high estrogen levels in the formula! :( If I had known then what I know now, I would've tried a lot harder to get him to nurse.

The hospital pretty much ordered me to give him formula, because he was jaundiced and my milk came in late. I had NOTHING for nearly a week. He was starving and getting sick! I could've tried to switch him to the breast once it came in, but by that time I was like, "Eh... just let it be." I didn't know any better.

Then he got sick on the formula, and we switched him to soy... Gawd, for the first 2 months of his life he could only sleep if I held him tummy to tummy for the heat... and lots of Mylicon.

Ok, enough rambling, I got off on a tangent! :P

Now that is scary! We have city water which we do filter but this is a farming/industrial area so who knows what's in our water.

You can only do what you know, and you were in a bind.

We went on the vegan diet for one because we thought one of the benefits would be later puberty. We ate tons of soy......soy milk, soy sauce (braggs), chik seasonings (which are soy flour), lecithin, tofu.....I even made my own. Plus gluten everything. And we wonder why we have so many problems. I had no idea that metals would be a problem and best to stay on some animal products for those.

Speaking of feeling better...I knew I was feeling better this year, but heck, I think I've had a little bit of a sinus infection and didn't even know it. :P:lol: THAT's improvement. Last year this would have knocked me on my butt!

I am so NOT in the holiday spirit! I can't even think of going and getting gifts, especially considering Hannukah is in almost a week!! :o

Well, my situation is probably helped by the fact that I don't actually have to buy any presents. :P

Hi everyone, I am so behind I am not even going to try to catch up.:)

Sometimes you just can't... :P

More food is staying down

Yay for this at least! No real advice on the other. I haven't had one of those kinds of yeast infections since I was in my teens. The only other thing I can think of is cutting out any sugar...but you probably know THAT already. :P

I was trying to answer that first question, and my fingers just won't type it.:P

I'm sorry you had to go through that extra bit of hell Ami. I'll be thinking about you- get lots of rest!!!

So it's looking like we may not know until tomorrow when we can get an appt. for the PICC line. If it wasn't for my veins being so problematic, I would say forget it...but I can't. My arm is still swollen from the last 2 weeks of blood draws. I am burning out on all of this crap so quickly. I can't even imagine starting a whole NEW plan of "getting better." I am just so tired and crabby (did I mention crabby...lol!). UGH UGH UGH!!!

Ami,

I am glad you're doing okay. Keep us updated when you can...okay? :)

Well, some semi good news...I have an appt. with the LLMD on Friday Dec. 14th at 10.15 am!!! I am hoping that we will be able to keep the appt...I told my mom I was going to call and just make an appt. because this is getting ridiculous.

Let's just hope that all these "if's" work in the way we want. Also, the hematologist said that he wants to start with 5 IV's and see what my numbers do. If I am okay after 5, we will stop...so then we would have more room for error to still be able to make the LLMD appt. (does that make sense?)

Kassandra

AndreaB Contributor

Ami,

I'm glad you're back and resting. Take care of yourself and post when you can.

Kassandra,

I hope the 14th works out! That would be great! I think Rachel has her appointment with Amy on the 15th and don't know if Jin still has an appointment on the 13th but I thought she did.

I'm sorry you're arm is still so bad with the recent blood draws. Hopefully you won't need more than the 5 IV's and things will move quickly with them.

She is very thin. She is about 35 lbs. I have read that the more weight a kid has, the more estrogen they could be storing, but she has no fat!

She has a pediatric endocrinologist appt on Dec 14th, so maybe i'll get some answers.....

That's very strange then .... I look forward to hearing what the endocrinologist has to say.

I replied "YOU ARE A LOSER".

That's Adam's favorite name to call people ... loser. LOL

Ok, need to vent somewhere. I'm upset, POed, scared, and now stress eating (which is baaad).
This could be called the vent thread! It's okay to vent here, we all get it!

Maybe your mom will finally be tired enough of other doctors to see the LLMD this time. :)

I think you should go whether you are done with the iron IV's or not. :)

Your post demonstrates the profound frustration and isolation that so many in the Celiac community feel, and I want to thank you for channeling that experience into advocacy. The medical gaslighting you endured for decades is an unacceptable and, sadly, a common story, and the fact that you now have to "school" your own GI specialist speaks volumes about the critical lack of consistent and updated education. Your idea to make Celiac Disease a reportable condition to public health authorities is a compelling and strategic one. This single action would force the system to formally acknowledge the prevalence and seriousness of the disease, creating a concrete dataset that could drive better research funding, shape medical school curricula, and validate the patient experience in a way that individual stories alone often cannot. It is an uphill battle, but contacting representatives, as you have done with Adam Gray, is exactly how change begins. By framing it as a public health necessity—a matter of patient safety and protection from misdiagnosis and neglect—you are building a powerful case. Your voice and your perseverance, forged through thirty years of struggle, are exactly what this community needs to ensure that no one else has to fight so hard just to be believed and properly cared for.

Navigating medication safety with Celiac disease can be incredibly stressful, especially when dealing with asthma and severe allergies on top of it. While I don't have personal experience with the HealthA2Z brand of cetirizine, your caution is absolutely warranted. The inactive ingredients in pills, known as excipients, are often where gluten can be hidden, and since the FDA does not require gluten-free labeling for prescription or over-the-counter drugs, the manufacturer's word is essential. The fact that you cannot get a clear answer from Allegiant Health is a significant red flag; a company that is confident its product is gluten-free will typically have a customer service protocol to answer that exact question. In situations like this, the safest course of action is to consider this product "guilty until proven innocent" and avoid it. A better alternative would be to ask your pharmacist or doctor to help you identify a major national brand of cetirizine (like Zyrtec) whose manufacturer has a verified, publicly stated gluten-free policy for that specific medication. It's not worth the risk to your health when reliable, verifiable options are almost certainly available to you. You can search this site for USA prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance" and click it, and then look at "Inactive Ingredients," as any gluten ingredients would likely appear there, rather than in the Active Ingredients area. https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/

What you're describing is indeed familiar to many in the Celiac community, especially in the early stages of healing. When the intestinal villi are damaged from Celiac disease, they struggle to properly digest and absorb fats, a condition known as bile acid malabsorption. This can cause exactly the kind of cramping and spasms you're seeing, as undigested fats can irritate the sensitive gut lining. It is highly plausible that her reactions to dairy and eggs are linked to their higher fat content rather than the proteins, especially since she tolerates lean chicken breast. The great news is that for many, this does improve with time. As her gut continues to heal on a strict gluten-free diet, her ability to produce the necessary enzymes and bile to break down fats should gradually return, allowing her to slowly tolerate a wider variety of foods. It's a slow process of healing, but your careful approach of focusing on low-fat, nutrient-dense foods like seeds and avocado is providing her system the best possible environment to recover. Many people with celiac disease, especially those who are in the 0-2 year range of their recovery, have additional food intolerance issues which could be temporary. To figure this out you may need to keep a food diary and do an elimination diet over a few months. Some common food intolerance issues are dairy/casein, eggs, corn, oats, and soy. The good news is that after your gut heals (for most people who are 100% gluten-free this will take several months to two years) you may be able to slowly add some these items back into your diet after the damaged villi heal. This article may be helpful: Thank you for sharing your story—it's a valuable insight for other parents navigating similar challenges.

I had a very rough month after diagnosis. No exaggeration, lost so much inflammatory weight, I looked like a bag of bones, underneath i had been literally starving to death. I did start feeling noticeably better after a month of very strict control of my kitchen and home. What are you eating for breakfast and lunch? I ignored my doc and ate oats, yes they were gluten free, but some brands are at the higher end of gluten free. Lots of celics can eat Bob's Red Mill gluten-free oats, but not me. I can now eat them, but they have to be grown and processed according to the "purity protocol" methods. I mail order them, Montana Gluten-Free brand. A food and symptoms and activities log can be helpful in tracking down issues. You might be totally aware, but I have to mention about the risk of airborne gluten. As the doc that diagnosed me warned . . Remember eyes, ears, nose, and mouth all lead to your stomach and intestines.  Are you getting any cross contamination? Airborne gluten? Any pets eating gluten (they eat it, lick themselves, you pet them...)? Any house remodeling? We live in an older home, always fixing something. I've gotten glutened from the dust from cutting into plaster walls, possibly also plywood (glues). The suggestions by many here on vitamin supplements also really helped me. I had some lingering allergies and asthma, which are now 99% gone. I was taking Albuterol inhaler every hour just to breathe, but thiamine in form of benfotiamine kicked that down to 1-2 times a day within a few days of starting it. Also, since cutting out inflammatory seed oils (canola, sunflower, grapeseed, etc) and cooking with real olive oil, avocado oil, ghee, and coconut oil, I have noticed even greater improvement overall and haven't used the inhaler in months! It takes time to weed out everything in your life that contains gluten, and it takes awhile to heal and rebuild your health. At first it's mentally exhausting, overwhelming, even obsessive, but it gets better and second nature.
