Rachel, I'm sorry. I posted that last post re: compounding your meds - and then saw that I was replying to a message from 2006! Feeling a little silly right now...

Katie

No problem. :)

I did have my thyroid meds compounded for awhile back then...but I dont really have a problem with corn so thats not really an issue now. It was costing too much money to continue getting them compounded and it didnt make any difference as far as my health problems....so now I just take the regular stuff. ;)

Rachel, Have you started your detox foot pads yet. I was going to order the ones you posted, but had no idea which ones to get lol.

No...I have them but I dont plan on trying them in the near future. I'm gonna work on one thing at a time so for now I just wanna get my copper levels down and some of my other minerals up. My copper/zinc ratio is not good.

Rachel--24 Collaborator

I stayed home from work again...seems like I'm almost back to normal except for my voice. I was talking fine but then I end up on the phone for hours and my voice starts going again.

I think tomorrow I should be mostly over it and back at work.

yeah rachel about the selenium. It helps keep mercury from getting to much in the blood. But don't rachel it because I believer too much selenium makes arsenic. I need to get more I just ran out.

Arsenic??

I definately dont want anymore of that. The arsenic showed up in all my urine tests as well as the red blood cell test I just had done.

Yeah...you definately dont wanna rachel selenium. I think it can become pretty toxic if it gets high. I think it can also move mercury to the brain.

Are you tolerating supplements pretty well these days?

I dont blame you there. Working on the copper levels are more important.

Have you heard of the book "Gluten-free Girl" by Shauna James Ahern? I just started reading it and it is great! Recipes in there too.

I have an appointment with Dr. S today...hoping he'll let me do a provoked challenge for metals!!! Pray, okay! I'll have my "report" from Anna as to which chelation agents I tested well for, so I'm hoping he'll see that I can handle some of them! [ETA: shoot, just remembered I left the stupid thing at home...oh wait...Anna emailed it to me...okay off to see if I still have the email, lol.]

Yep, as someone says, it happens at least once a month! Stick around and post with us!

I finally looked over the symptom list, have been avoiding it, I have 63 of the 75 symptoms :o

Wow, I thought my 47 was bad, lol!!!

Yeah, something tells me that even though I'm bigger, Rachel could take me!

(Although, me thinks I could possible get as far as the door with the phone)

Yeah, mine was really sore too, but that only lasted a couple of days...still the throat felt raw (but not enough to be very bothersome) almost the whole 3 weeks I had the thing.

Speaking of that evil cold/flu thing...I've been having pain in my shoulder blade area since then. Remember when I said the evil cough caused a pulled muscle in my chest and head...well, apparently I popped a rib. I've been seeing the physical therapist/chiropractor three times a week since I was sick to try to work out the pain...one of the chiropractors said I had a disc out...she adjusted me and it was fine...yesterday it was out again and another of the chiropractors said I popped a rib.

So be careful out there girls, lol. If you get sharp pain when coughing, go get that checked, lol.

About the selenium, we know about it on the thyroid forums. It lowers thyroid antibodies, both those for hashimotos and graves disease. The max amount is 200

HAve a great appt Donna, I'm looking forward to hearing about how it went and what's next on the agenda for you

I know, I am a little concerned about the 63 out of 75 symptoms  .

Yikes about the popped rib, hope the chiropractor can help you with that.

Well, I couldn't find the email...I know I have the attachment saved at home, but apparently not at work. BUT, fortunately I have this thread, lol. I found my post from March in which I listed the amounts of the various things. Dr. S should have a copy (Anna faxed it to him) but just in case I wanted to have something in my hand, lol.

Nyxie,

I'm a day or so late on this, but glad you popped in. I have been following your updates on MS, sounds like you have had some challenging days and a few better ones. Wishing you well!

Carla,

Why did I think you were in Mexico?!?! For some reason that stood out in my mind....

Do either of you, or anyone have a link with a brief summary/overview of chronic lyme disease??

AndreaB Contributor

Donna,

A popped rib?!?! :o

I hope your appointment goes well today and I'll be looking forward to the update when you can.

I'm not sure if Carla posted some of those on the Lyme Disease thread or not. Have you ventured over there before? I'm pretty sure she posted some links but they may be ones you are already familiar with.

I saw the symptom list in the first couple of posts, I'm looking more for a explanation more so I guess.

I haven't totally embraced the lyme, I have been in denial so I haven't visited the thread much

I did regular yoga (not the HOT class) on Monday and I have been SOOOOO tired ever since! Its that tired you just can't shake...I don't have time to be tired

I guess I will need to start with the easier class and work up.

I am thinking I need to get some selenium!

Donna, My ribs come out of whack sometimes too. I have to get them adjusted. It makes the middle of my back hurt - very annoying!

Paula,

I am glad the mold problem wasn't as bad as you thought! I had that happen to me recently.

Julie,

That is awful you have so many symptoms! Maybe by treating the lyme you will cure the angioedema??

Hi April, how have things been with your health and your daughters?

Sounds like your adrenals (with the hot yoga). Try a regular class, without the hot, and see what happens. I have terribly burnt out adrenals but I can do regular yoga ok, it actually regenerates me. The temp might be too draining for you.

I am hoping my angioedema will go away with treatment, crossing fingers.

Yeah, that's just about where I was hurting...but it was slight off towards the right shoulder blade area.

Thanks Donna Joy :D:D

 You're welcome Julie Marie.

I'm not sure what you're referring to as "normal" here - and is this something your doctor has mentioned (in bold)? As that isn't what any study or official information says. According to diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation, normal fasting blood sugar is 4.9-5.4mmol/L. Normal by 2 hours from the start of a meal is anywhere below 7.8mmol/L. Random (more than 2 hours after a meal) should be below 5.6mmol/L.  Not in any study of normoglyceamic individuals does blood sugar go down to less than 5.4mmol/L one hour from the start of a meal, and I don't see such numbers being considered a limit for one hour post prandial in any official definition of normal blood sugar ranges anywhere. It is basically impossible even for the most metabolically healthy individual to have a blood sugar level anything like a fasting number 1 hour only after eating a high carb meal. This is also why medical standards use the 2-hour postprandial value, not 1 hour. Blood sugar normally spikes at about 1 hour after a high carb meal.  For example this study shows that young, healthy normoglycaemic people experience a 1hr peak blood sugar level of about 6.5-7mmol/L before which the 2hr number returns to about 4.7mmol/L, slightly higher than the fasting number of that morning. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2769652/?utm_source=chatgpt.com Even a normal person isn't going to be seeing essentially fasting blood sugar numbers after any meal except for one with 0 carbohdrates contents.

My skin biopsy and MRI scan shows no signs of any type of nerve damage. Nothing consistent with demylination or peripheral nerve damage. On the contrary, the nerve function from the skin biopsy proved better than normal. I don't get any pins and needles or have any loss of nerve function. It's pain only.  Thiamin I take is 100mg a day in tablet. I used to test blood sugar a lot in the past, and it never correlated directly with the nerve pain. It has only correlated with increased exercise and stress. The after eating getting worse thing happens when the blood flow is directed to the stomach for digestion away from the peripheral areas, which is normal, but central sensitization has caused normal sensations to be turned into pain by the brain, according to the latest doctors, hence whey I am being referred to the pain clinic.

@HectorConvector, My blood glucose level would spike after I ate.  It wouldn't return to "normal" fasting blood glucose level for longer and longer.  Blood glucose level should return to normal an hour after eating.  Mine would take two hours, then three hours, then longer.  So over night fasting blood tests wouldn't necessarily be very high until they got really bad.  But the peripheral neuropathy would feel the worst while my glucose was too high.  My blood glucose meter confirmed this.   On top of all that, my Celiac disease was still undiagnosed at the time, and I was suffering from malabsorption and nutritional deficiencies.  The deficiencies in B vitamins affected not just insulin production in the pancreas, but also the nerves in my extremities.  Nerves need B vitamins to maintain the myelin sheath protecting the nerves (like the plastic coating on electrical wires) when they fire.  When the myelin sheath is not maintained, that "pins and needles" feeling starts and increases as more of the sheath is damaged.  My parathesia progressed until the "pins and needles" went from my toes all the way up to my thighs.   Without sufficient vitamins, I started slowly losing weight.  Our bodies will start using not only stored fat, but also tear down our own muscles to provide fuel for the body to stay functional.   I hope you don't have pre-diabetes or diabetes.  Most diabetics have a thiamine deficiency.   How much thiamine are you taking?  What form of Thiamine are you taking?
    • HectorConvector
These symptoms started initially in 2009/2010 and I've had normal blood sugar readings in all the blood tests - so never been diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes. I did request another blood test recently (yesterday in fact) which I have had, and if the blood sugar looks high it'll come up in my results which I'll be able to see next week. I don't have any other symptoms relevant to diabetes except for the nerve pain, which had been in existence for many years with "normoglycaemia", but we'll see. In terms of my current diet: I get roughly 60% of my calories from fat and protein, and 40% from carbs (an estimation). I'm on currently about 2200 calories per day, which is too low for someone of my size, so I've been slowly losing weight that I want to put back on again. But I don't want to do that without using weights, which flare my pain up unfortunately.

I used to react very badly to milk - much worse than to gluten and I was always worried about exposure. Any diary product would make me extremely ill and put me out of action for 5 days or so. I would have watery and bloody diarrhoea, bloating, malaise and be unable to eat. If I recall correctly, it was about a year after being diagnosed with coeliac disease and going on a strict gluten free diet that I accidentally consumed dairy products and didn't react. From then on, I have been fine with diary.
