Soy Sauce In Individual Packets

It would be nice to be able to carry some safe soy sauce packets with me so that sushi isn't so bland. Yeah, I can take a bottle with me when I know I'm going out for sushi, but I don't always know that I'm going to be out somewhere and have a sushi urge. Has anyone found a place to buy little packets of La Choy or any other wheat-free soy sauce? I see that the "Portion-Pac" sort of generic packets don't seem to have wheat in them, but I'd like to confirm that before buying a case of 500 of them.

Yes there is, but on the weekend the board is a little slow. Someone will post in for an internet site to order them ...I don't know, I carry around a bottle with me. :)

I called San J which makes San J Wheat-free soy sauce (it is gluten-free, too) last year because of the same issue of never knowing when we'd need soy sauce. They said that their bottle label does suggest refrigeration but that it is not necessary. Thus, we keep a small bottle (plastic thing I got at Walmart) filled with San J in the van at all times and take it out when we go somewhere we want it. Tania

I forget where I got them, but I would not recommend the place. I ordered 20 individual packets and they charged me $15.00 for shipping. So, now when I run out, I am also going to carry a little bottle.

Free shipping over $20 and the soy sauce is low-sodium, too! Less than $20 and you're stuck paying for fed-ex.

You can fill that $20 by getting A1 packets, dressing packets, etc...

I've been wanting to order the gluten-free soy sauce packets from them... I already have the tabasco and A-1 Sauce from them... I can't really find anything to "fill in" my order to get the free shipping... I see they don't carry Annie's salad dressings and I'm not sure about the other salad dressings on the site... Some are Kraft but they have modified food starch in them and other stuff.... does anyone know which are gluten-free so I can fill in my order :blink:

I know Kraft ranch is gluten-free, and as always, Kraft plainly labels gluten. Their modified food starch is corn unless stated otherwise. Enjoy! :P

I bought a brand from Kari-Out through their wholesaler www.whiteplainsrestaurantsupply.com. The owner supports the cause by keeping the price low. Case for $11.00. I ordered on a Friday and they shipped in 24hrs. They were very helpful with other question I had as well. I also got a great deal on cookware.

I was just going to post about Kari-Out. They are actually located down the street from my old apartment (and less than 10 mins. from where I live now), which was great because the owner told me about a chinese restaurant in the area he goes to.

Thanks! Lots of good info here. I have thought about leaving a bottle in the car, but considering how much heat builds up in a parked car in summer and how cold it gets in winter, it's not a good idea to leave any foods or meds in your car. I'll check out some of those web sites. My daughter, although not positive on blood test, has so many gut problems she has also started eating gluten free (with good results) so we will both appreciate any portable soy sauce!

      thank you RMJ! That is very helpful advice. Good to know we aren’t crazy if we don’t do the endoscopy. We are going to try the gluten free and see how symptoms and levels improve. thank you Wheatwacked (love the username lol) that is also reassuring. Thankfully she has an amazing and experienced pediatrician. And yesss I forgot to mention the poo...

      My son was diagnosed when he was weaned in 1976 after several endoscopies. Given your two year old's symptoms and your family history and your pediatrition advocating for the dx, I would agree. Whether an endoscopy is positive or negative is irrelevant. That may happen even with endoscopy. Pick your doctors with that in mind. In the end...

She has the weirdest poop issues.    How long did it take y'all to start seeing improvement in symptoms?

      My son was diagnosed when he was weaned in 1976 after several endoscopies.  Given your two year old's symptoms and your family history and your pediatrition advocating for the dx, I would agree.  Whether an endoscopy is positive or negative is irrelevant.   That may happen even with endoscopy.  Pick your doctors with that in mind. In the end you save the potential trauma of the endoscopy for your baby.   Mine also had really nasty poop.  His doctor started him on Nutramigen Infant because at the time it was the only product that was hypo allergenic and had complete nutrition. The improvement was immediate.

The other things you can do besides an endoscopy would be: 1.  Genetic testing.  Unfortunately a large proportion of the population has genes permissive for celiac disease, but only a small proportion of those with the genes have it. With family history it is likely she has the genes. 2.  Try a gluten free diet and see if the symptoms go away AND the antibody levels return to normal. (This is what I would do). Endoscopies aren’t always accurate in patients as young as your daughter. Unfortunately, without an endoscopy, some doctor later in her life may question whether she really has celiac disease or not, and you’ll need to be a fierce mama bear to defend the diagnosis! Be sure you have a good written record of her current pediatrician’s diagnosis. Doing a gluten challenge for an endoscopy later in life could cause a very uncomfortable level of symptoms.   Having yourself, your husband and your son tested would be a great idea.

      here are the lab ranges.  Normal ranges for tissue transglutaminase are: <15.0 Antibody not detected > or = 15.0 Antibody detected normal for endomysial antibody is < 1.5. So she is barely positive but still positive.
