Morning Lister--the best thing you can do is to call the 800# for the company and ask about the product. Usually if it says gluten free, then it is, but there are still products I am leary of. I found some Puritan Pride vitamins that said gluten free, but there is barley grasses listed in the ingredients. So I asked them why and the lady called the company, they told her that in their opinion, the barlet grasses do not constitute enough gluten to be considered gluten. I told them that they do not tell me how much is ok and I wont purchase the product.

Kraft is the one company that I know will always list the allergens on the ingredients list--I always trust them. When in doubt, I dont buy the product.

As for Dove, I am using one of their liquid soaps in the shower and it's fine. I usually use Softsoap brand. Deb

Clan Thompson says that Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm tin and tube and Lifeguard's choice and lip gloss are all gluten-free. Other gluten-free lip balms:

Blistex lip ointment

Blistex lip balm, regular, mint, berry

Chapstick lip moisturizer spf 15

Children's chapstick flava-craze, grape or fruit punch

I believe the Neutrogena lip moisturizer stick is also gluten-free. And if all else fails, petroleum jelly works great - put some on at bedtime to heal cracks and chronic dryness.

Lister Rising Star

are all blistex's safe? i acually have the medicated in my girlfriends car, it works great but i stopped using it ecause i did not think it was safe,

for the natures path rice bar-envirokids, i found a old post from vanderscope(sorry if i mispelled your name) saying his kids eat them so i just did mmmmm. i dont know thow im geten my normal "glutened feeling" but as i have noticedi think its just how i feel after i eat always for now owell. Maybe soy doesnt like me

I looked up my snickerdoodles and they look fine so thats good

only thing i cant find about is the ener-g pretzels

im just trying to be ubercarefull and make sure no one else gets reactions from these things befoere i eat them myself.

Guhlia Rising Star

The Energe gluten free pretzels are definitely gluten free AND delicious. I believe that they're even made in a dedicated factory to eliminate CC chances.

The Envirokidz bars are safe. I used to eat them all the time w/o a problem.

You can generally trust things if they're labeled as gluten free. I usually still read the ingredients, just to make sure that there are no oats in it since some people consider oats safe. If you're in doubt, just call or e-mail the company before purchasing or eating.

wolfie Enthusiast

I eat the Envirokids bars too and react to the soy in them.

Oh, forgot, I eat the Ener-g pretzels and have no problems.

Lister Rising Star

i just wanted to make sure about the berts bees i read a thread about vita E containg wheat germ is this true i just have Burts Bees bees wax Lip Balm, and i really really wanna use it but not if its gonna give me a reaction

Mango04 Enthusiast

In my opinion, the only thing on you list you should be careful with is the Vans Waffles. A lot of people do fine with those, but lots of people react too (I personally think it's the soy flour in those that "glutens" people). If you eat them and start to feel sick, you might want to eliminate them.

I use Burt's Bees lip balm with no problems.

Lister Rising Star

o thank god, my lips are peeling there so chappend, not like cut but acually skin peeling- im really used to licking my lips and have stoped in fear of getting something from them

o god it feels sooooo goood ahhhhhhh

edit- AHHHH IT BURNS IT BURNS IT BURNS- lol ow i think my lips were really bad because this crap is burnnnnnning

Mango, do you know of any gluten free and SOY free waffles??

Mango04 Enthusiast

Gosh, I don't know. The Lifestream ones contain soy oil and soy lecithin, both of which are less harmful to me (I think) than soy flour. I'll need to check the Trader Joes Bananna ones. I think they have a lot of junk in them, so they probably have soy, but I'm not sure...

jerseyangel Proficient

Mango--I reacted terribly to Van's. I thought it was because of CC--but it very well could have been the soy flour. Actually, that makes more sense. Thanks :)

Lister Rising Star

alright i will avoid the vans until i get my allergy tests(food allergy tests) done on wensday- do allergey tests test for sensetivity to foods also?

Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

I don't live in the US, but based on this thread, I wouldn't risk it:   https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/comments/1n2ehw8/cracker_barrel/   This app is helpful: https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/

I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
