So true.

I go to work, eat, and live coeliac.

A highlight is coming home and checking up on celia.com.

But is has been awesome, and I have learnedso much from you all.

At last I have something (other than hubby) to feel passionate about.

What is housework?

I get on the message board when I'm pumping and realized the other day that if I give up pumping, I'll probably be giving up Celiac.com too, at least partially!!! :( I just don't have this much time otherwise. I guess pumping is a good excuse! :P

Ha ha! Well, the word in my house is that I am huge techny internet dork  So...I can relate... Dh makes fun of me being on the forum--but not in a serious manner. I mean, he belongs to a ferrari forum--so I can make fun of him too (although he visits a few times a week--vs multiple times a day!) Anywho...can't tell what your husband's tone was from your post...but after the initial learning curve wears off you may want to make sure you have some "celiac-free" space carved out in your home where you can talk to your husband about topics not relating to celiac....if that is even a problem for you guys.

Sorry, it's just funny that you've got a vacuum on your boob every time you get on here

Way to go on the pumping, though! :)

I am an addict. I have to get on first thing when I get to work, (good thing I'm the boss, lol) and get on several times a day. I need this right now and appreciate the support I get here.

Mine has his Lotus forum, but then teases me whenever I'm on the computer. Arg!!! But he's a kidder.

DW bugs me as well, but she also has 2 forums she checks a LOT more than I am/can be on here.

I apprecaite all the advice I get, and help when I can.

I do agree that it can be very all consuming, but what else is there. I live in a small town where the nearest support group/local chapter is 65 km (40 miles) away. Even my doctor had to make phone calls to help interpret my blood work.

Thank you all for your support.

Time on this forum is time well spent. It's like taking a college course in gluten-intollerance - and it's free! Can't beat that.

And, yes, I'm spending a lot of time here reading everything I can. I'm sure that after a few months I'll get on with my life and won't need the support here as much - but for now, this place is worth its weight in gold! (uhh, how much does an internet site weigh??

My husband is retired, but is writing a novel, so he's on the computer all day long. We both have our own computer in our rooms (he in his study and me in my studio on the other end of this very small house) and we have our own email address. Sometimes we email each other :D

TOO FUNNY!!!!

My husband complains of the same thing with me being constantly looking at gluten-free related stuff. I joke that he's just jealous of me. Then I found him the shirt mentioned in my sig below, which he thought was a hoot. But I must say he does fit the 'honorary' category because he pretty well eats what I do (but I cook, so maybe he's just lazy!).

[My hubby teases too. One of our daughters called recently and he told her that I was on the COMPUTER again. He is very supportive, told me not to worry about buying special foods (the higher costs). He was very concerned when I was very sick, could not stop losing weight just a few months ago. Yes, he is a kepper too. I am taking care of him now, he is taking meds for a sinus infection, first one he ever had!!

I would like to get him to go gluten free too, he is eating less now anmd does most of his own cooking. I have not yet baked a cake but maybe i will bake him a glten free BD cake in august. Might start something!!

take care all, evie :):);)

my girlfriend has threatend to break up with me on several ocasions because of this website.. it devowers your soul...... no seriusly its adictive i think its just beeing able to talk to people that are going thru some of the same stuff really makes you keep coming back and back and back, plus its the only place to really turn for any info about whats going on with yourself or how to take care of yourself

It is addictive. Today I came on here just to ask a question about a supplement and then I had to stop to read the new posts. Then I had to check up on the threads that I've participated in or started and reply. Before I know it way too much time has gone by! But I agree that it is time well spent.

It's the place I go to when I want to make sure that we're not "nuts." Everyone here has had our experiences and fears and anxiety so we don't feel like the outsiders (as we normally do with non celiac people). Although I am not celiac, I experience it with my DH. Hopefully celiacs will eventually be large in number and rule the world! ;)

I feel I've joined your club by default!(as I'm not the coeliac-hubbie is)

I suppose I'm an honoury coeliac (I want that t-shirt) but like Debmidge I am affected by all that having celiac disease entails.

I don't think my hubbie minds me 'dropping in' daily-as I've become his eyes and ears for the G.F diet, and over time,by regularily chatting about any concerns and worries regarding celiac disease,I feel I've built up 'cyber' relationships with people.I can bang on about celiac disease without boring the pants off you guys! as I know you all understand in a way that my 'real' (as in the flesh)friends don't.

This board is addictive though :o -For instance the first thread I always read (but haven't posted on) is Rachel-24's OMG,just to see how they are!!!

My husband can't complain about how much time I spend on here. I only get on the computer once every day or two, maybe an hour at a time. It could become all consuming, but when you're the one being ignored because your spouse is on the computer all the time, and even your kids start rolling their eyes when you ask where dad is ("on the computer of course"), you quickly realize that life is too short to get involved in every single discussion on every single site to the point where it is sucking up all of your free time. It's not fair to the other people in your life.

Sorry, sensitive subject for me!

Testing can't alone be trusted.  Else why would it take so many years of testing and retesting and misdiagnosis to finally be told, yes you have Celiac Disease. As to what to eat, I like pre 1950 style food.  Before the advent of TV dinners.  Fresh food is better for you, and cooking from scratch is cheaper.  Watch Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals for how to cook.  Keep in mind that she is not gluten free, but her techniques are awesome.  Just use something else instead of wheat, barley, rye. Dr Fuhrman is a ex cardiologist.  His book Eat to Live and Dr Davis' book Wheatbelly were instrumental in my survival.

If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch--thanks for the tip about Dupixent, and I've added it to the article:

I just want to clarify that what I posted is a category of research summaries we've done over the years, and nearly each one shows that there is definitely a connection to celiac disease and migraine headaches. The latest study said: "the study did indicate some potential causal associations between celiac disease and migraine with or without aura, as well as between migraine without aura and ulcerative colitis...this study did not find evidence of a shared genetic basis..." Anyway, there is definitely a connection, and you can go through more of the articles here if you're interested: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp-related-diseases-and-disorders/migraine-headaches-and-celiac-disease/

Two months ago, I started taking Dupixent for dermatitis herpetiformis and it has completely cleared it up. I can't believe it! I have had a terrible painful, intensely itchy rash for over a year despite going fully gluten-free. See if your doctor will prescribe Dupixent. It can be expensive but I am getting it free. When the dermatitis herpetiformis was bad I could not do anything. I just lay in bed covered in ice packs to ease the pain/itching and using way too Clobetasol. Dapsone is also very good for dermatitis herpetiformis (and it is generic). It helped me and the results were immediate but it gave me severe anemia so the Dupixent is better for me. Not sure if it works for everyone. I cannot help with the cause of your stress but from experience I am sure the severe stress is making the celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis worse. Very difficult for you with having children to care for and you being so sick. Would this man be willing to see a family therapist with you? He may be angry at you or imagine that your illness is a psychosomatic excuse not to take care of him. A therapist might help even if he won't go with you. Also do you have any family that you could move in with (with the kids) for a short time to get away? A break may be good for you both.

@tiffanygosci, Thiamine deficiency is a thing in pregnancy for "normal" people, so it's exponentially more important for those with celiac disease and malabsorption issues. I studied nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology because I was curious what the vitamins were doing inside the body.  See my blog.  Click on my name to go to my page, scroll to drop down menu "activities" and select blog.   So glad you're motivated to see the dietician!  We're always happy to help with questions.  Keep us posted on your progress!
