Wendy's

Hi, Yesterday I got glutened pretty bad (although it went away much faster than usual for me). All I ate that was suspect was a wendy's baked potato which I put some country crock margarine that came with it on top. I also cheated and stole four of my daughter's fries. What do you think, anyone know for sure if they're supposed to be gluten free? did I make a mistake or was it just cc?

Potato should have been fine. Don't know about Country Crock ...

The fries are okay if that particular Wendy's uses a dedicated fryer. I, however, do not like how close the fries are to the nuggets, etc. So, it very likely could have been the fries, or your child's hands all over the fries after being all over gluten.

Or they could have cut the potato with a contaminated knife. I know many here who eat the potato ask for it uncut.

I used to get horribly sick every time I ate the fries at Wendys......My guess would be that! Hope that you are feeling better!

Sounds like the fries were likely the culprit. BTW, the Country Crock is fine :)

Early on in my diagnosis I ate Wendy's fries....they were SOoo good. However I stopped the day that I found a chicken nugget in the BOTTOM of my fry box. Yep I had eaten a whole box of contaminated fries  . No more wendy's fries here.

I do remember the days when a nugget at the bottom would have been a "bonus"

Not all Wendy's fryers are dedicated. You have to ask the manager at each one.

The Baker and Country Crock are fine...I also eat the chili there.

DH used to eat the fries too but when I checked the Wendy's website they are not listed as gluten-free. They do have a good gluten-free menu on the web if you want to look at it. There were more choices than I was expecting. At least the Frostys are gluten-free. DH and DS love those. :) Kendra

The fries are not on their gluten-free menu because not all stores have dedicated fryers. I wouldn't even eat them at the stores that do because of cc, but that is why they are not on the menu.

I eat the chili.

Ditto. I ate chili and a potato there last night with Country Crock. Also had large frosty. I probably eat these items once every couple of weeks with no issues. I would not eat the fries though.

Wendy's has a particularly "glutenous" connotation for me, as it was at Wendy's (after eating the fries, a burger, and chicken fillet) that I first became sick for the last 3.5 months w/ the illness I only recently know is Celiac! If Wendy's is glutenous enough to kick off this plague, I would guess the friest/ potatoe certainly could've done it to you. :) (I can't pass a Wendy's without cringing now! :/ )

Wendy's was horrible for me. It gave me such a headache after I ate a burger and fries there. It first happened after I ate a meal before my law school admission test. I was in such a brain fog that I struggled during the entire test. It felt like my brain was in neutral. Horrible way to take a test.

Thank goodness I avoid that now.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
