Do you promise to never infiltrate Rachelville with gluteney foods? Yes, of coarse!!

Do you promise to never bring gigantic Auxigro ridden produce into R-Ville? I do. (Raise right hand.)

Can I have a job now? :P

I just wanted to stop by Rachelville for a visit...and say HI. =)

I admit, I had no idea what Rachelville was, until I pm'd JerseyAngel. I didn't want to seem like a dork. But, someone much braver than I asked publicly.... and I must give that person Kudos!!!

So... HI! =)

Hello and welcome :D Don't worry about sounding like a dork....I do it all the time.

Hi SusieQ :D So glad to see you! Hope you get to the bottom of your niece's breakouts.

Mango, those muffins sound sooooo good, what brand? Can we get them here? You must get the recipe and bring it back to your friends in Rachelville, it's your job, your duty

Carla and Morgan, The Bs, so sorry you came down with a nasty virus. Hope you both feel better soon :)

Yes Picard, your picture with a new name would be great!

Hi everyone, glad to find that Rachelville continues joyfully. I am so impressed by how graciously these growing pains have been handled.

My computer is still not working as far as this site goes. Is anyone else running Windows 2000? Yesterday I felt just horrible about it and my sweetie actually offered to leave his work computer for me but I said no, I'll be O.K. :(

Oh gosh...I might go through BAD withdrawal if my computer died, yikes!

Na, you just delegate, delegate, delegate! There are certainly enough people around here to delegate to!! And my rule is delegate to the youngest one who can do a task ... that way the older kids don't get overburdened and neither do I!

I finally got a pic on where you can see a little better, so the name order is now wrong.

I will try to put up a picture --- no promises.

It was a wedding shower for one of her friends, so she didn't pick the place. Since she went gluten-free on her own just because she feels better, she doesn't worry about cc like we do ... but she generally just eats before she leaves the house so she can avoid gluten. Her friends are getting used to her watching them eat. All I can say is she must REALLY feel better to be so diligent about it!! Well ... her severe seasonal allergies have completely gone away, so I guess that's her motivation.

Pink and Purple....hmmmmm....I dont recall liking those colors as a child. <_< Am I the only girl who didnt go crazy for pink and purple ribbons??

I

Nope! I don't really like purple. And I didn't like pink very much until a few years ago....and I'm "old"!!

My room was painted yellow when I was a kid. Bright and cheerful!! :D

Cool!!!! You can help construct all our patios in Rachelville, lol! Horse training might come in handy too as we're trying to round up the stray dingos and geese. Andrea? (Andrea is the keeper of the town list)

Well it was about a month or less after I decided to go gluten free....so I made the exception and ate a glutened meal at Tumbleweed  I didn't want to make a big deal since first of all, I just started going gluten free and nobody really got it. And secondly, at that point I wasn't sure if I would continue to remain that way. All my friends understand it now....and they're pretty used to it. Not only that, but I have another friend who just started going gluten free a couple of days ago bc she's having problems and aren't sure what they are from.

Yes my allergies are a huge reason that I keep this up. But I also have other little things that help. :D

Well, six year old girls anyway!! :o

Good point! I'm in Kentucky....just north of Louisville.

I thought underwear & I'm no kid that is for sure. Ha!

Welcome to town! :P

Jayhawkmom,

Come back anytime. If you want to be a regular and have a job....let us know.....application is on page 1.....very easy. For those that aren't gluten free we have a deglutenizing chamber.

Hello everyone! :D

It's good to see you found us Dave.

Carla and Morgan.....oops on the picture. I just saw the similar face picture and didn't even look at the name. I like both the new pictures. :)

Picard.......yes, picture please.

Rachel,

Why do I think his bark is worse then his bite? Afterall he didn't say anything about the orange jug.

Donna,

I'm here and I'll get the town list up soon, at least the addons.

My daughter had a super rough time going to sleep last night. We let her stay up til around 9/9:30 since her daddy was leaving and she didn't go to sleep til around 12 because she was worried about me going to bed before she went to sleep. I tried telling her numerous times that if she went to sleep I would be up til after she went to sleep. Then the baby woke up at 6:30, I had covered him up and he decided it was time to get up. He can pull himself to standing so that is great fun. I ignored him and he finally settled down again but I didn't look at the clock. I will be quite surprised if hubby gets home tonight....his driving hours won't allow for it so if he did it would be the middle of the night. His driving time has got to be close to done now, probably another hour or two. If he takes his required time off then he wouldn't be able to start again until later tonight and I'm guessing he'd only be 8-10 hours from his next drop. So he'll probably drive through the night again....gonna totally mess up his normal sleep time.

I see you Luke's Mom! Hello, come on in!

Jessica,

We need your interests as well unless you just want to be a visitor. :P

morganb Newbie

So I looked and saw who was on, and it said morganb, carlab, andreab, and luke'smom....we could all be related. (by the way, I have a brother named Luke) It just made me giggle  and I wanted to share

@sleuth, Has your son been checked for nutritional deficiencies?  All of those symptoms can be caused by malnutrition.  I had severe malnutrition that went unrecognized by my doctors.  Intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, and gastrointestinal distress are symptoms of deficiencies in the eight essential B vitamins, especially Thiamine B1, which becomes low first because the demand is higher when we're sick.     Celiac Disease causes inflammation and damage of the intestinal lining which inhibits absorption of essential nutrients.  Checking for nutritional deficiencies is part of proper follow up care for people with celiac disease.   Is your son taking any vitamin supplements?  Most supplements contain thiamine mononitrate which in not readily absorbed and utilized by the body.  Benfotiamine is a form of thiamine that is shown to promote intestinal healing.  Benfotiamine is available over the counter.  Benfotiamine is safe and nontoxic.   Is your son eating processed gluten-free foods?  Gluten-free processed foods are not required to be enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.   Is your son following a low histamine diet?  Histamine is released as part of the immune response to gluten and other foods high in histamine.  High levels of histamine in the brain can cause anxiety, insomnia, and depression.  The body needs the B vitamins to make the enzyme Diamine Oxidase (DAO) to break down and clear histamine.  DAO supplements are available over the counter.  Vitamin C helps clear histamine as well.  Some people find over the counter antihistamines helpful as well, but they're not for long term use.   Nicotine has antihistamine-like properties, but can also irritate the gut.  Tobacco, from which nicotine is derived, is a nightshade (like tomatoes, potatoes, peppers and eggplant).  Nightshades contain alkaloids which affect gastrointestinal permeability, causing leaky gut syndrome.  Nicotine can cause gastrointestinal irritation and alter for the worse the microbiome. Safer alternatives to Nicotine that have antihistamine properties include Lemon Balm (Sweet Melissa),  Passion Flower, Chamomile, and Bilberry.  They can be taken as supplements, extracts, or tea.  These will help with the anxiety, insomnia and depression in a much safer way. Oolong tea is also helpful.  Oolong tea contains the amino acid L-Theanine which helps the digestive tract heal.  (L -Theanine supplements are available over the counter, if not a tea drinker.)  Tryptophan, a form of Niacin B3, also helps calm digestive symptoms.  Another amino acid, L-Lysine, can help with anxiety and depression.  I've used these for years without problems.   What ways to cope have you tried in the past?

In general if it is labelled gluten-free then it should be ok for most celiacs, however, those who are super sensitive (which is most who have dermatitis herpetiformis) may want to eat only certified gluten-free items, which are supposed to test down to 10ppm (but don't always!).

Have faith, you will survive. I get mine from Pipingrock.com.  500 capsules of 10,000 IU for $22.  That is almost two years worth for me.  250 caps 5000 IU for $6.69 if you only take 5,000 a day.  It's like half the price of Walmart.
    • Wheatwacked
Testing can't alone be trusted.  Else why would it take so many years of testing and retesting and misdiagnosis to finally be told, yes you have Celiac Disease. As to what to eat, I like pre 1950 style food.  Before the advent of TV dinners.  Fresh food is better for you, and cooking from scratch is cheaper.  Watch Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals for how to cook.  Keep in mind that she is not gluten free, but her techniques are awesome.  Just use something else instead of wheat, barley, rye. Dr Fuhrman is a ex cardiologist.  His book Eat to Live and Dr Davis' book Wheatbelly were instrumental in my survival.
